Hand Made Dolls

Finally finished that little bunch of dolls I've been working on.

they're kinda cute from the back, even if I do say so myself

and all of them wear pantaloons.

If only I could draw a prettier face.

Wish I had kept a count of how many stick dolls I've sold, especially a few years back at the Wake Forest Farmer's Market.

My best customers were the home schooled girls, especially when they were reading "The Little House on the Prairie" books.

Saturday mornings some of the girls would bring their dolls with them back to the market and hang around with me while their moms shopped. It was fun to see a little girl wearing a bonnet, and playing with one of the dolls.

It was fun. I've wished many times that I was still selling at the market.

I had all intentions of cutting another sapling today, but spent the whole day working in the house. Having that new rug made everything else look old and dirty.

anyhow, I'm dying make a few more dolls. I suppose making these silly little dolls would be my favorite crafting project. Oh, and I am adding these dolls to my little shop...haven't had any there yet.

Thanks again for visiting. Poppy needs the computer so I'll be finishing up now.

Love,
Henny

  2. Your dolls are wonderful. When my 3 girls were little they would've loved having one of your dolls with a matching bonnet that they could wear themselves. They were big fans of Little House too.

  4. I love your little dolls. I made them and sold them for years, too, at craft fairs. I made Amish dolls and wrote a story to accompany each one. I love that you had a relationship with the little girls that would come back to visit.
I hope you have a great night- xo Diana

Oh Henny, your dolls are all so pretty. If I was shopping, I would have such a hard time choosing which one I liked best. I hope they will sell like hotcakes! Thanks again for the great and always interesting blog. Enjoy that new rug too!

  7. I love your dolls! They are adorable and the faces are very well done! That is beautiful beige lace around their aprons and the dresses, bonnets and yarn hair are just perfect. I've always loved old fashioned dolls. I remember when I was little there was a place where a lady made dolls using dried apples for the heads. It was really unique but difficult to describe.

Thank you so much for sharing these pictures of your dolls! You are so talented Henny!

  18. Stick dolls? They aren't rag dolls? They're very pretty and I wanted to see their pantaloons! I'll echo a commenter above who says she wishes pantaloons were still in style. I think I do, too, but then I never wear dresses or skirts so how would that even work? Lovely post. I love dolls.

  20. Hello, my friend,

I am slowly getting back into the blogging world and actually doing some visiting and reading and commenting again! Will miracles never cease? I have to tell you that those dolls are adorable and how many other women would go out and cut down saplings to use for their doll making endeavors...I can't think of anyone but you. Henny, you are such a hard worker.

AND...I have to tell you that I love that dark brown rug in the living room. It really ties everything together, doesn't it? Good job, YOU!

Have a wonderful remainder to your week! xx
