HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Flowers in the dead of winter!

isn't that what Olivia said to her husband John Walton when he made it home through a blizzard late on Christmas Eve. He handed her a bouquet of cut flowers.

Well, these beautiful flowers are from Poppy, to me for Valentine's Day.

I've never seen so many different flowers in one bouquet...

Why, I've taken about 25 pictures and none of them show their true beauty...

My plan was to do a quick post early this morning and say "Happy Valentine's Day" but...

again today I haven't felt well. Not sure what's going on so I will probably call the doctor tomorrow.

Oh, my GOOD NEWS! Little Heidi is standing on all four feet, even walking around. She wants out of the little stall she is in but with all the rain, and Rosie, being the little bully that she is,  I feel Heidi is safer there. Hopefully the rain will stop soon.

And a bit of SAD NEWS too...Our oldest hen died yesterday. She was very special...

this was her when she was just a baby. Our neighbor came knocking at the door early one morning a few years ago. He handed me the little black chick and asked if I could raise it.

There was a bad storm the night before. Some animal had killed the mother hen and this little chick made it through the night alone.

She has been a sweet hen...

and even raised a few chicks of her own. We will miss her.

Guess I need to stop here.  Poppy just asked if we are having ice cream tonight.

Hope you all have had a nice weekend and a Happy Valentine's Day!

Love, Henny

Happy Valentine's Day

Good Grief! I've almost missed Valentine's Day!

Here it is 9:05 and bed time.

Poppy brought me roses yesterday. It was a surprise...

Dumper thought the roses were for him...

I didn't get Poppy anything. I feel terrible.

So, mostly I wanted to say Happy Valentine's Day but also to tell you there were no storms yesterday...just rain...lots of rain. Thankful for that. Thankful for the sunshine today too!

Love,
Henny

we got a cute card from Cousin Pat...It said "Hogs and Kisses"
Thank you Patty

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Before going out the door to finish the potting bench, I wanted to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day.

It's been a long long time since Poppy gave me roses...

He got off work at 5:00 yesterday. I happened to see him walking from the truck toward the front door with one hand behind his back. Never dreaming it could be flowers, I opened the door and asked, what are you holding?

It was a surprise, for me!!
The silly picture is Poppy's fault...I just stopped to smell the roses!

Here's what I dashed out and got Poppy. He will be home today at 2:00...

I know! Who wants a store bought cake! But listen, we have a little country grocery store in town called Carlie C's. Their cakes are delicious, and this coconut/pineapple is Poppy's favorite.

I did add a few hearts and a little Valentine.

Better go. It is 1:45. Poppy will be here soon. Let me go prop up beside the cake. Maybe he will want to cut it. :)

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Love,
Henny

Valentine's Day

So many sweet Valentine's Day posts, and I have nothing in mind.

Wait! Be back in a minute. I'm going outside with the camera. Maybe something heart-shaped will turn up.

and it did...

I really didn't expect anything special, but look! My sweet Valentine!

This old mirror from the thrift store and sweetie pie was all I needed...

to say "Happy Valentine's Day!!

and then, along came Poppy and picked up the mirror...

HAPPY VALENTINES!!

Love,
Henny

Old Valentines

Happy Valentine's Day!

My Mother loved valentines. She loved those sweet old fashioned ones. I can see her now, laughing as she opened and read the valentines that Lynn and Andee and I picked out especially for her. For many years mama kept a valentine tucked away in her Bible. It was one that Andee, when she was very young, had sent to grandma. Many times we have been at mama's when she would pull out that valentine and show it to Andee.

In grammar school, Valentines Day was one of my very favorite days. Covering a cardboard box with red construction paper and pasting on the pretty pink and red hearts. Then a slot was cut in the top of the box so we all could mail our valentines to the class.

It was quite a job picking out just the right card for every classmate...and then that really special card for that cute boy in the class.

So, I got to the computer bright and early this morning to wish you all a happy Valentine's Day. Have to be pretty fast to beat Poppy. :) Speaking of Poppy, he is doing fine although not feeling as good as he did the first couple of days after the surgery which seems odd. He goes back to see the doctor on Tuesday.

Oh, something else to tell you...about a vintage valentine. We were having a yard sale a few years back. I had gathered up a box of old books to sell, some very old, bought at a thrift store. A lady picked up one of the books dated in the 1920's and was flipping through it and found an old valentine. A beautiful love note was written on the back. The lady that found the valentine said how much she loved old valentines and she would love to have that one. I said okay and she walked away with a treasure. My treasure!

Thank you for visiting. Hope to catch up with reading all my favorite blogs today.

Love,
Henny
