Now about that FedEx truck that backed into the driveway yesterday.
Friday morning as we were drinking our coffee, I said to Poppy, "you know what would look good in the living room"? He rolled his eyes, like what now! "A new rug. A dark brown, soft plush, almost a shag, and bigger than the one we have now".
It may have been the "dark brown" that sold him on the idea. We searched on-line and found the perfect one. Shoot, he said, lets go ahead and order it.
This was on Friday, so you can see why we were so surprised to see FedEx, mid day on Saturday.
You know, I've worried constantly about how the newly upholstered chair clashed with the big bold flowery print in the rug we had in the living room, and Poppy informed me Friday morning that he never did like the fabric I picked out for the chair anyhow. Well duh!
As much as I have loved and enjoyed the old rug, this solid color goes much better with the new chair.
It would have been much simpler to have upholstered the chair in a solid red color and keep the multi-colored rug?? But me...having a touch of Dyslexia, being a Virgo, and left-handed, and dealing with a little obsessive compulsive disorder, well, occasionally, I do get something right! :)
So, this was the big secret that created the noise yesterday. Oh, friends, today it is dark cloudy, windy, and cold, with rain showers. Spring is getting closer though.

Wow! That sure was fast. It looks great with that upholstery on the chair and ottoman. It's huge, too. I like a rug that goes as close to the edge of the room as possible, but that's just my preference. I really like wall to wall carpeting, but with a house with hard wood floors you just don't cover them totally. Rugs make a room quieter and warmer feeling, I think. The rug goes well with the wood and brick in the room.

DeleteHenny, I love that fabric on your chair! It's beautiful. The new rug does make the room cozier. Your home reminds me of Charles Faudree's lovely cabin that he called The Roost. He adds all sorts of florals, like your chair, with stripes checks and plaids. Maybe you just need to mix in more patterns.

ReplyDeleteNice rug..and a good size, too. I like the fabric on the chair- it is kind of a timeless classic, I think. I love how fast things come when you order online...even with horror stories I have heard about some companies we have always (knock on wood) had good luck.

ReplyDeleteI love the new rug and the chair!! I would not change the color of the chair. I have not decorations skills at all. I also have problems with accessories also that goes with clothes. My house is dull. Oh well. I am not worried about it what counts is if me and the farmer like and and the same for you and poppy. Who really cares what others think LOL

The chair is beautiful, so if the new rug compliments it, then it's all good. Where did you order it that the delivery was so fast?
ReplyDeleteWe ordered it from Wayfair. We have never shopped there but looked up locations and found out there are two stores in Raleigh and one in Greensboro, NC

ReplyDeleteI think your rug was a great choice!! I would have been a bit nervous ordering something like that maybe, well some things I like to see in person. The speed of delivery is amazing though. They sometimes joke that you should match the colour of your rug to the colour of your dog, haha, or they used to say that about Labs at least! Hope Eli doesn't shed much....;-)
