Dear friends...
Didn't mean to be away so long...lots of things happening lately, but maybe I can now catch up.
this pretty deer was right outside the kitchen window, helping herself to the rose bush and peach tree.
She acted hungry so we let her enjoy herself. I don't think she could do any more damage than this hot dry weather has already done.
We had just about give up on getting any rain, but then late yesterday this big dark cloud formed right overhead. There was thunder and lightning and rain...two inches of rain!
Poppy decided to run out and help the old one-legged rooster get inside the hen house before the storm. On his way back to the house, it started to rain, so Poppy, being excited, stopped and did a little Indian rain dance. It was hilarious!! but as he was dancing around there in the driveway, lightning flashed and then it thundered...wish you could have seen him run for the house. Sure wish I had had my camera...I was standing on the porch watching.
Anyhow, we sure were happy to get the rain.
It's getting late and Eli is snoring. Hope to be back here soon.
Love,
Henny
So glad to hear you finally got rain! Thank you, Lord!
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
LoL...I giggled, hard, about Poppy and the rain dance!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
We'll be doing rain dances here soon. 42 days and counting at least a week ahead with no rain in sight.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that rain dance. I always enjoy rainy days but especially in the middle of summer. It's been terribly hot and steamy here for the past week or so but a front came through Friday night and today was marvelous. Temps in the 70's with almost no humidity. I worked and worked knowing that this perfect weather surely would not last. Tomorrow is supposed to be equally as nice although a bit warmer. As for tonight I will have no trouble sleeping what with all that exercise today.
ReplyDeleteWe had two inches of rain last night/morning also! I would have loved to seen Poppy doing his rain dance! xx
ReplyDeleteGoo to see you back!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you all got some rain! I would have loved to seen Poppy doing the rain dance! We got a little yesterday evening to.
ReplyDeleteLove you bunches!
Good to hear that you got some rain . . . if you can please send some our way, too :)
ReplyDeleteHenny, so glad about your rain... and yes, it would have been great to have captured 'the rain dance' on camera. As for the deer, I agree (if they're hungry, let them eat). It's our philosophy concerning all the strays/feral animals that come into our yard by the creek. They are welcome to share food, water, and some security if they need it. So many of our neighbors call them a nuisance. They're just trying to survive.
ReplyDeleteThats why I could never obsess over a garden. I honestly can't blame animals for wanting to eat it.
ReplyDeleteI bet it was funny to see Poppy's rain dance! I am glad to hear you got some rain. Seems like we either go dry or get flooded out with little in between. I love the deer pictures - thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Bonnie. It's like that here too...dry as a bone, or the pond overflowing. We really did have a beautiful spring and most of summer here though with just the right amount of rain. That doesn't happen often.
DeleteWhat a pretty deer. I would have let it be, too. You need to have a video camera at the ready, Henny. lol
ReplyDeleteNice pictures of the deer and I'm glad you finally got some rain.
ReplyDeleteIt was generous of you to let that deer eat your Roses. Nice that you got 2 inches of rain. Maybe we should do a rain dance and get a couple of inches. This week our temps are forecast to be 100 degrees or more, a rare happening here . I hope it's not a trend or there are many thirsty plants I'll have to get rid of.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good week.
Yay for rain! I don't want it ALL of the time, but I do like it in the summertime. Aw! That poor hungry deer!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you all got some rain! I would have loved to seen Poppy doing the rain dance! We got a little yesterday evening to.
