A little post with a big "thank you"

Thank goodness for daffodils that bloom while we are waiting for spring weather...

and thank goodness for blogging friends!

Thank you so much for the comments on my chicken post. That was a pleasant surprise. So glad I didn't lose you all over that bunch of chickens.  Even came through it all with two new followers, Alison and Faith. Thank you!

The late afternoon sun shines through the little sewing room window...
it was just so bright and warm, I could not resist taking a picture...

and most days there is a kitty cat napping there. I do see signs of one having been there.

and speaking of the sun...
it made the delicate blooms on this Ash tree look like ice.

Guess I had better end this. It's about bedtime. We have to get up at 4:00 tomorrow morning. Poppy works at Food Lion.

Love,
Henny

    1. Thank you Bonnie. It has seemed like forever, and I can't believe all the snow some folks still have. Of, course, it is still March. I get in too big of a hurry. :)

    1. Just got back from town..trying to think of
      a song..about Sunshine...Ah! Oh! Yes!
      Ain’t No Sunshine...Bill Withers..1971..

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone too long
      Anytime she goes away
Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
      Anytime she goes away..

      And it's on uTube...

    2. Thank you Willie. I was looking for you to come back. I do remember that song. Pheasants are pretty, aren't they? Wonder if pheasants would get along good with chickens?

    3. Pheasants are naturally free roaming game birds.
The problem with this is that they can fly a lot
higher than chickens, and are frequently wooed away
      by wild pheasants. ...
Getting your pheasants as youngsters will help you tame
them so they will be easier to house every night....

    1. Hey MK. Yes, he retired, sorta, but still works two days a week, occasionally three. I appreciate your comment about the chickens, and glad to hear how Adam built your chicken house. We just started building with no plans in mind. I wish now we had done a better job. At least, put a floor in. I will never talk Dan into building a new house. He keeps asking why we can't stop adding on and just maintain. What fun would that be? :)

  10. What a beautiful room, so inviting and cozy. Daffodils? You have them blooming already, oh they are beauties. You are in NC, I in Ohio, we are still pretty cold here, soon our landscape will be filled with the scents and sights of Spring. I was originally and for years Crochet by the Sea, I changed it eventually when it came to me, that line is in the poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes, and it becomes a rose by and by. You really can make this bread, even if you are not a seasoned bread maker, this is doable. It is just the way you see in the post, it is a no frills bread, crunchy and crackly, with holes and all. Today I am making Amish White Bread, a little more work, with a different type of finished product. I appreciate you stopping to make a comment. :)

    1. Thank you Faith. Yes, it will soon be spring for all of us. Thankfully! I do remember the name Crochet by the Sea, but don't think I followed you then. I will find that poem and read it, and also will look back at your bread recipe. It sounds delicious!

  13. Thank you Sandra. I understand about seeing the snakes. Snakes are just no fun to look at. Once I've seen a snake in the yard or chicken house, the rest of the day I feel like there are snakes all around. I watch everywhere I step.

  14. That reminds me of my bedroom off the kitchen in our old farm house when I was a kid. The sun slanted through the window in the afternoon and it was a bright, warm spot to come home to. I usually flopped on my bed and did my homework while the sun lit the room...because at 5:30 sharp we went to the barn and did the milking.

Thank you for your comment on my Easter blog. My way to return email comments got screwed up for part of the day. SOOOO Thanks for the visit and the comment. xo Diana

So nice seeing that bit of sunshine coming through your window.

  18. I can't wait to see daffodils...and love that view of your sewing room. Forever I only had sewing machines in the basement. then a few years after the kids were gone, I set up some sewing in my dining room...it takes over a lot of the time. I just love being able to see out the window! Now I still quilt in the basement...and once I am down there, I am okay, but I just have to force myself to go down there.

  22. Sunshine and daffodils what a lovely way to welcome Spring! Last fall I planted a small sack of daffodil bulbs out in what we call our meadow. They are just starting to peek through the ground. They will be a welcoming sight for sure. Your bedroom looks so bright and comfortable, if I were a cat or a human it would be my choice spot for an afternoon nap, too.
Have a lovely day, sweet friend and thank you for your prayers.
    Connie :)
