our very cluttered little living room with way too many patterns and textures and stuff :(
Between raking leaves and trying to Christmas shop, there has hardly been time for anything else.

This was Lynn, last Saturday in a Durham parking lot. She was waiting for me to arrive. We planned to Christmas shop, all day! I came home with one gift, but that's okay. The best part was spending the day with Lynn, and visiting with Jason.
But, today is another shopping day, and I have simply got to come home with some gifts!
Before leaving...friends, I have mastered the leaf blower!! Don't have a picture, but will get one and show you later. I, and all those leaves, must have looked like a whirlwind!!
Hope to be back real soon.
Love,
Henny
PS. Don't know why but every time I add a caption to a picture, the next paragraph gets caught up in the picture??? :)
Your home looks SO cozy and warm and I love your decorations! I hope you get all of your shopping done! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletemakes you wonder how many leaves fall in an autumn?
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of your living room. It looks so warm and inviting just like a room from a Christmas story! I know you enjoyed your day with Lynn and Jason. The older we get the more we enjoy the special time spent with family. Lynn is sure beautiful - just like her Mama!
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie, thank you! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!
DeleteLove the living room, with all the wood you can have patterns and colour galore. It looks so cosy, just the place to open the door and relax into. I am not keen on homes that are show houses when you hardly dare step on the carpet never mind actually sit down.
ReplyDeleteI love your log home Henny, it's so cozy and inviting.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the shopping, I feel I must buy the perfect gift for everyone on my list, otherwise I'm not such a happy camper.
Happy to see Lynn, she's a beautiful lady !
Hugs,
~Jo
You are blessed with a beautiful home and the decor is a delight. Thrilled to hear you have mastered the leaf blower. Hope you manage to get your Christmas shopping done.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like me I hate to shop! I like to have a specific idea of what I am going to get before I go into the store. I know you will get everything done before Christmas. Wish you a very Merry Christmas. Love you bunches!
ReplyDeleteI really don't like shopping for gifts. I never know what to get and when I do buy something I come home and agonize whether it was the right thing to get. Some people have a knack for buying such appropriate presents... but not me!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed that you have mastered the leaf blower. That should make your work a lot easier.
I thought you meant to put that sentence there and was impressed with the styling! See how little I know. Henny, your cottage home looks wonderful, but in my book, it doesn't have ENOUGH pattern! We just saw the fabulous movie this morning...The Man Who Invented Christmas. You have to see it. The story is wonderful all about how Charles Dickens created A Christmas Carol. But, most important, the London of the 1800's was done so beautifully in the movie and his home! Just see the movie and you will see how a profusion of pattern is a more is more concept. I want to do my house just like Dicken's movie house and you will too.
ReplyDeleteNice warm colors in that living room.
ReplyDeleteHenny, your house looks so beautifully comfy and cozy. Thank you for sharing that picture. So glad you've armed yourself with the leaf blower. Hope it helps so you can quit worrying about your leaves so much. Have a wonderful Christmas with your hubby and all your special animals and any friends or family that you happen to see. God's Blessings be upon you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Diane. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
DeleteI agree with everyone else: Your living room looks so warm and comfortable. I'd like to just sit down in that easy chair, put my feet up on that footstool and take a nice little nap.
ReplyDeleteYou're cutting your present choosing time pretty close. I too hate to shop and am a terrible decider and I'm just glad when it's all over and I can sit down without thinking about all the stuff that still needs to be done. One more present to get and a few Christmas cards yet to write and post. Oh and I have to finish knitting the second Christmas hat for the cats, I found a book at the library ,appropriately named CATS IN HATS, with 30 different hat patterns (cupcake, bunnie eared ones, chicken ones, elf hats, ones wth reindeer antlers you name it)-----so cute and small and quick to make. I know that Scout and Grace will be so thrilled with their new finery! We're hoping to get a picture of each of them before they rip them off and scuttle off to safer territory.
Well if you don't make it back before Christmas have a happy one.
Thank you Vic. I would love to see a picture of the cats in their new hats! Hope you Christmas is a merry one too, and Happy New Year!!
DeleteYour living room photo looks like something from a magazine. How beautiful! I am a terrible gift shopper too! Probably because I put it off until the last minutes at which time I am way to stressed out to think clearly. Maybe this year I will begin in July. Merry Christmas, Henny!
ReplyDeleteYour home is so you, comfortable and warm and inviting.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't know what gifts to buy if I didn't get lists from close family.
your living room looks warm and cozy!! I'm done shopping.....now need to FINISH WRAPPING, my least favorite part of the season, lol
ReplyDeleteLove.
ReplyDeletelovely home :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think your room looks cluttered at all. It looks warm and comfortable and so very nice.
ReplyDeleteWe aren't buying gifts this year. Our new house is our gift!! : ) I did bake and knit some things for people.
Your living room looks perfectly cosy, especially with all the Christmas decorations. Larry and I stopped buying gifts for each other last year. It is very freeing and made it simple. I am a terrible gift buyer. I never know what to get anyone and tend to wander aimlessly hoping that I will see something that jumps out and says 'I am the perfect present for so and so...' And because I am such a thrifty person I had a hard time justifying the costs of new things. This year, after reading a fascinating article about all the waste at Christmas, I declared to our kids that they were not to get us anything this year, unless they made it themselves, or it was edible. For them, I got David and Melissa a good sized gift certificate for ethically raised meat from a ranch that delivers to their area, and Meredith is a getting a made over table and stool set for her condo. It will look a bit strange to see no presents wrapped and waiting under the tree, or very very few of them, but it feels good to be freed from the pressure of trying to find the perfect gift. As I said to David and Melissa, all we want is for them to arrive safely after their 14 hour drive, and to be able to spend time with them between Christmas and New Years.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and Poppy, and your lovely daughters and families, and all your animals too!
Your living room looks cozy and Christmas-y. No wonder you don't want to leave and go shopping. I hope your trip was successful and you are ready to wrap them all up. That's my favorite part of getting ready for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks very cozy, Henny! I hope your Christmas shopping went well and you can relax now.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family, furry family included, of course. I send some belly-rubs for the kitties. :)
Julia
Oh dear, I hope you have more gifts now. Your living room is divine! I want to sink into that gorgeous chair and drink in all the gorgeousness! May you have a beautiful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYour home looks very inviting! I am not a good at choosing gifts for other people either. Have a wonderful Christmas! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI'm not a great shopper either, unless I'm seriously IN the mood, which only happens once in a rare while. I always hope that the desire to shop will strike right before Christmas. I hope you found some good gifts!
ReplyDeleteYour living room looks just perfect, Henny! Cozy and Brambly Hedge-y! Yay!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Christmas, lovely friend!
I love your living room- it looks nice and cozy. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYour living room looks warm and cozy to me:)
