After Christmas

Well, well, well, friends, I have tried since the day after Christmas to post something and simply cannot put it together!

I did want to post a picture, first one ever, of a fire in the fireplace. Yep, early Christmas morning before the family got here, we got a fire going...

making the cabin toasty warm for our visitors. We haven't used the fireplace much lately, but I do enjoy a fire.

Christmas Day was wonderful! My only complaint is that, all too soon the day was over and we were sharing hugs and saying our goodbyes. As usual, no great pictures to show you. I'm a poor excuse of a photographer.

except when it comes to Dumperoo. :)

and here's a little explaining ?? and apologizing...

Friends, you know how ignorant I am when it comes to computers; knowing just enough to keep my blog going.

My Daughter Lynn, who helped me start a blog in the first place, said Mom, do you remember to check "comments awaiting moderation" on your blog? Well, no. So I checked and wow! there were several!

I apologize to those who left comments that were never published, months ago...especially to the nice person who read several of my older posts about "growing up in Robbins", and posts from the 1950's, and who had a Saucy Walker doll just like mine. I enjoyed your comments and hope  that you will visit again. I'm very sorry. I don't understand why comments go there in the first place???

Oops! Here's one picture from Christmas day...
Lynn and Poppy, and sweet Madison sitting with her back to the camera. If Lynn shares some of her pictures with me, I will post more.

Okay, I'm going with this for now. Hopefully, I will be back with a better post, and to show you my new beautiful baby doll.

Thank you, if you're still here.

Love,
Henny

My thanks to you for writing this post, and to Lynn for reminding you about the comments awaiting moderation...I checked mine and was shocked to find just how many were in there. Ooops! I am a bad blogger!
I hope you have a wonderful New Year. Elaine.

  4. I'm like you, I was so busy enjoying my time with my daughter that I basically forgot to take any pictures, but they're in my heart.

  5. Well, I found 47 comments in "waiting for moderation"! I had no idea. Why do they go there?????? Anyway, thanks for the heads up!
I love the look of your Christmas fireplace!

  6. Oh Penny...the fireplace looks wonderful! and I'm glad that Lynn shared about the comments. They changed it awhile ago and it took some getting used to for me also :{

Have a wonderful blessed new year Penny :)

  8. Your fireplace looks so cozy and warm . . . such a welcoming sight. I am sure that everyone that came for Christmas enjoyed it's warmth. I'm so bad about taking family photos . . . when they come to visit, I'm having too much fun enjoying their company that I never think of the camera until after they have gone home.
    Happy New Year!
    Connie :)

  9. Don't feel bad about not taking pics, I think we're all guilty of getting too involved with the goings on that even though we planned to take 'family shots' of everyone, we seldom remember to do so. It irks me because we are so seldom all together at the same time that another opportunity has been missed. But again the being together is what is important... and we did get to enjoy that. As for the 'comments waiting for moderation', I am aware of them, but don't always remember to check. Love the fireplace! Nothing says cozy like a fire in the fireplace!

  10. Uh oh. I've never checked "comments awaiting moderation"! Your fire looks so cozy and welcoming. I know what you mean about Christmas going by so fast. I said the same thing yesterday.

  11. I can imagine your cozy and welcoming home, with the fire lit in the hearth and the smell of wood smoke enticing you inside for further enjoyment. I for one couldn't resist the temptation.
I've deleted my share of comments thinking they were spam, not to worry, they'll be back to visit your lovely blog.
Happy New Year to you and yours there on Henny Penny Lane, may it be a blessed one dear friend.
    Hugs,
    Jo

  12. That fire blazing away within the beautiful fireplace just shouts out a great family time. My week has flown by with Francesca here, even though we lazed about each day flew by. Wishing you a happy new year.

  13. Cozy Christmas. That's what's important. You can get more pictures later. I have a cat, Byron, who looks a lot like Dumperoo. What's better than pictures of our kitties at Christmas? The fire adds to the festive day. Blessed Christmas. Phil/ Eagle Bend, MN.

Oh henny....you know we are always still here...waiting for your next post!!! I love that first pic of your fire in the fireplace....it warms me up, even from this far away! Tonight it will go down to at least -15 again. We have almost had a week of this cold weather now. I wish Canada would quit sharing their air with us!!! Love your pics and your stories...wishing you and yours a wonderful New Year! And can't wait to see your new doll!

  16. Your fireplace looks so warm, cozy and inviting. Really Nice.
In settings you can change it so that your comments are never moderated. You can check Never or Sometimes or Always. If you check sometimes you can choose any amount of days you want. I have mine checked for moderation after 5 days.

  17. I don't understand either why comments sometimes go to "awaiting moderation". There are so many things about electronic things that I don't understand. Just this morning I couldn't get my TV to work and it had something to do with the power outage we had. Good thing my son knew just which button to press. Apparently he has explained this all to me before but I can't remember it.
I like your cozy cabin with the blazing fire and comfy cat!

Happy New Year to you and Poppy! May 2018 be both happy and healthy!!

  18. Check the Spam ones too. Sometimes you have to delete them. Looks like a warm and lovely Christmas Day. I hope you're warm out there in the woods. Happy New Year to you and Poppy and all the big and little critters all around!

  20. Looks like you had a fun Christmas, Henny. It's always over far too quickly after all the build-up. On to the new year now. I look forward to a clean slate and lots of dreaming. :) I wish you both a wonderful year ahead and hope it's a good one for all the gorgeous animals that share your home on Henny Penny Lane. xo

  21. What a lovely photo of your Christmas fireplace! The stockings and garland are gorgeous and warm. As for the "comments awaiting moderation," I guess they want to give you the chance to delete any that are "spam" or are inappropriate, before they get published?
On my regular blog, I do moderate comments b/c sometimes I get spammy ones I want to delete. But on my farm blog, I just let all the comments go straight through, and I don't check those. You can choose whichever setting you prefer.

    Happy New Year's, Henny!!

  22. I'm trying to figure out why you would have comments waiting to be moderated? Isn't it all or nothing? With your blog I just post and it appears, whereas Granny Marigolds, it always says 'awaiting moderation'. I'm glad you had a good Christmas and family visited. That's the best!
