A quick visit

Friends, it has been a week since my last post!! Why, we've had all sorts of weather since then!

Who was it that said, "how can you go backward when you're moving as fast as you can?"

Well, here's one way...last Tuesday I raked leaves for five hours straight, hauling them off by the sheet load...working so hard that I could hardly drag myself back to the house.

So,  Wednesday, a cold front blew in and I do mean "blew in", with winds up to 25 mph!

"Mama, you're not going to be happy when you see all these leaves!!"

It was disheartening, I tell you. But that's okay. I'm thankful to be able to still get out and work hard, and plan to rake leaves again today

The little bit of snow we got last week sure was pretty to watch. It didn't amount to much, but was pretty.

Better get busy! I will be around to visit and catch up!

and, "thank you" to a new follower, Linda Eller.

Love,
Henny

  1. Ooh Henny, you are such a trooper !
All that hard work, but at least you know that's less to do next time. A barrow full here, and a barrow full there, and sooner or later, they are piled high.
We had a sprinkling of snow last week, just enough to get you in the Christmas mood...perfect.
Watch your back Henny, don't go overdoing to the point of suffering.
    Beautiful snowy pictures.

  2. When the urge to rake leaves or pine straw comes upon me and I freely admit the urge doesn't come often, I get on the lawnmower and use it to blow them away.

  3. Loved the picture of Eli and the caption. That was too funny and made my morning.

  4. Oh my goodness! That would be almost disheartening, seeing MORE leaves to rake up.

    Happy Christmas holidays ~ FlowerLady

  7. Oh you poor thing, Henny - I hate raking leaves, but it sure is a wonderful (and free!) workout!! Who needs a gym when you have a house and property to take care of?

  8. I had to trim something with a lawn mower, so I ran over a good pile of leaves at least the other day

  9. Love both those pictures... but especially the one with Eli in it!

  10. Maybe a really strong wind could blow all those darn leaves right into the next county!! Wouldn't that be something. The little bit of snow does look pretty. I hope we get at least some snow this winter
( But not too much or for too long). Take care Henny!!

  11. I like raking leaves, but only because I have a very limited supply. Your bountiful supply is daunting, and then Mother Nature is no help at all!

  12. We lived on a farm for 20+ years and our children grew up there. When I came to your blog, I knew I had to follow you to remember the 'good old days'. Love your pictures. Thank you for accepting me, and I look forward to knowing you and yours better.

  14. Well you certainly got a good work out raking all those leaves! : )
Beautiful pictures and I love the caption of the picture of Eli coming in the door!!

  15. Hey HennyPen... We use the fallen leaves as mulch, anything left over just makes divine compost. If you covered your piled leaves with a tarp, you'll have the best matter for your garden in the summer! Merry Christmas and a Jolly Good New Year!

  16. Hi,
I love that last photo. Beautiful!! I think it could be a card or on a canvas.
We are to have 8 inches by the end of the week, maybe more! We will see, I do know we will have enough to cross country ski and I am very excited about that.

  17. Oh no, That would be so discouraging! I am glad that you are healthy enough to rake leaves. Love that Eli! Have a nice Christmas! Nancy

  18. Oh how frustrating for you. We used to bag 65 large paper bags of leaves (packed tight) and about 15 more in the Spring so I can relate to the work you would have put into raking. So much work and then the winds. I hope your weather gets better, how wonderful that you had some snow fall. It truly is beautiful isn't it? As long as you're not slipping and sliding on the road LOL. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  19. That would be frustrating! Glad to hear of your snow. I think the best kind is the kind that looks pretty but doesn't stick around for a long time.
