Bits of news

Looks like once a week may be the norm for posting now. Just can't seem to get back to the computer. With Eli full time and trying to get the garden growing, plus all the mowing...well you should see the "to do" list I almost completed on Saturday. This was one tired crew by the time supper was finished. Did not know Poppy had the camera...

Gosh, I washed all the living room windows and screens. Then drug the water hose up on the back screened-in porch and cleaned the pollen and dust from the walls, the floor, all the screen wire, and the furniture. But wait, that's not all...I sanded and painted the rails on the back steps...

The steps and trim work still to be done. I weeded the blackberries, then hauled three wheelbarrow loads of mulch from the garden area to a flower bed in front, and then cleaned out the goat's barn. This was after doing the housework, the laundry, and feeding the animals!

Have you ever seen such a patch of Lemon Balm?

Finished up the mowing in this area near the woods and the place smelled just like fresh lemons.

Eli thinks if he gets here first, it can be his chair, not Poppy's...

This old sweetie pie is growing. We put Eli in with the goats today and he loved it. He wanted to play with them but the goats seem to think he was a bit silly...

Now the sweetest news of all. I have a Great Grandson. "Greyson" was born Friday the 16th. He weighed 9 lb. 1 oz.  You may have seen this already on Lynn's blog, amothersjournal.com . I can't wait to hold him...

Thanks for stopping by.

Love,
Henny Penny

  1. Wow you have been busy! Your yard is beautiful. I love the lemon balm I have some bee balm and I hope that it blooms this year. It only bloomed the first year I had it. Eli is so handsome! Congratulations on your great-grandson.

    Love you!

  7. Phew! What a day you had. Were all those projects on your list? I tend to start one thing, and as soon as I've finished it, I think of one more thing to do. By the end of the day I've worked steadily on one thing after another, none of them planned.
Your family produces beautiful babies! Congratulations!

    1. Thank you for the nice comment! I did cross those things off my list Saturday. Normally, I will work all day and then realize I did not do one thing that was on my list!

    1. Terry, you say the nicest things! I look like a great granny in that picture. Can you believe that Lynn is a grandma? I think she would like for Greyson to be her baby. You could never be like a snail! :) You work at the hospital and garden and do all that other stuff. Love, Henny

  9. My goodness please do slow down you are making all the rest of us look like slug-a-beds! The "spring things to do" make for a very long list and they all seem to need to be done "right now!". Your efforts do seem to be showing as everything looks very spic and span at your place.

Greyson is just beautiful even if he is a boy.

    1. Hey Victoria! "slug-a-beds", I have never heard that funny expression! :) You're right. This time of year there is so much to be done. Oh, it's far from being spic and span around here. Thank you! :)

  10. Wow....I'm wore out just reading your post :)
So much to do this time of the year, all that fluffing, and cutting.
My Lemon Balm died this year, and it seems to be scarce in the nurseries, I miss it's fresh scent.
Congratulations on your new grandson Greyson, he's a lovely little fellow.
    Enjoy your week deary.

  12. Congratulations! What a sweet boy. Lemon balm is trying to take over my yard, too. Once it gets started there is no stopping it. Take some time out to enjoy your beautiful place.

  13. How precious. The baby and the puppy!

We are mowing the clover and feeding it to our fattening calf. I would rather just have it all fenced.

    1. Thank you. When we moved here we sowed clover seed, but we could not get anything to grow!

  14. Wow, that was one busy day, no wonder you fell asleep. Don't you love days like that though, you feel soooo productive at the end of it:) I just ripped all the lemon balm out of a flower bed, for the umpteenth time. I think the only way to have it is in a container or in a patch of lawn that you can mow around, like you do. Love the smell but the plant drowns out everything.
    Wow, a great grandson, congrats!

    1. I do love days like that! Probably be a while before I have another one. Most days there are too many interruptions to really accomplish anything! Wish I had known about Lemon Balm before I stuck a sprig in the yard! :)
