Christmas Post, such as it is :(

Dearest Friends,

Eleven days until Christmas and I haven't posted the first thing about decorating or shopping or any of the fun things.

But, I have now put up a few Christmas decorations...

Yep, out to the shop and picked out a few favorites and placed them on the mantle...

then brought in the same little old Christmas tree and like the mantle, picked out and hung just a few favorite ornaments...

For some unknown reason I am hooked on Western and kinda wanted a Western look for the tree and surroundings. Wonder if this feeling comes from living day in and day out with Matt Dillon and Gunsmoke? :( I actually dreamed about Matt recently.

I added another string of lights to the tree and didn't do a very good job of hiding the cord.

and this old old wreath I pulled from the shop too...Oh, I have carried this wreath to many a yard sale only to bring it back home and hang it in the shop...

so I added a few sprigs of holly and cedar, a pine cone or two, the bells, a ribbon and it looks okay, maybe. At least the artificial look is covered.

Oh, my new lightweight battery powered leaf blower has arrived. As soon as the battery was charged, I gave it a try and soon had the front yard cleaned, again! I love it!!

and I did hang the big Santa poster...just can't get a good picture because of the glare...

tomorrow I'm taking it down and figuring out some way to fit it better into the frame and reduce the glare.

Well, I'm going now to write a few Christmas cards. Hope to be back soon but one never knows. Want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for putting up with me. I love and appreciate all my blogging friends. Thank you!

Love

Henny

Oh, and let me show you this big red barn!

Is this a beauty or what! It's located about five miles from our place. I watched with envy as this barn was being built. I wonder if it really is a barn or if it was built for a home? Okay, lots of love!

  1. I love seeing all of your Christmas ornaments and decorations, the western look is sweet, and perfect for your log cabin.
Hoping that you are healing well and you'll be able to easily use your new leaf-blower.
That is one beautiful barn :)

    1. In case it didn't do right, that's a stat, Joseph, Mary with baby Jesus, a camel, sheep, and llama. I couldn't find anything in the icons to be an angel. And they probably did not have llamas, but I ❤️ llamas.

    2. Thank you Sandi. That is a very nice Nativity. I love llamas too. Merry Christmas!

  5. Well dear Henny, I think that all of your decorations and your tree look great! You did a fine job on that wreath too! Ha...hearing about Gunsmoke reminds me of my dear old Dad....he used to love that show, along with Andy Griffith too. And that's a pretty cool Santa picture you've got there. Fun to see that big red barn....that could be a cool house for somebody! Merry Christmas to both of you, in case you're not back before then! Happy New Year too! God Bless you both and all your critters too!

  6. It's always good to hear from you, Henny. I'm so glad that you got a battery powered leaf blower. My son gave his dad one for Father's Day that's light enough for me! I don't have all the leaves in the front yard where I blow them, but we do get an accumulation right across the front of the house, garage door, and sidewalk. I can keep the walk to the house clear and move the leaves away from the garage where they blow right inside. Aren't tools fun sometimes? You can see progress right away. Your decorations are perfect for your log cabin. That barn looks like it could be a house with a garage on one side and a workshop on the other. It's gorgeous.

    1. Thank you. It's always good to hear from you too Peg. I do like that little leaf blower, especially for places hard to reach with a rake like you were talking about. How did I manage all these years without one? Hope you have a Merry Christmas.

  7. Oh Henny, I love all of your pretty things. The wreath and tree are both beautiful and so is your mantel. I love them all. Matt Dillon. I remember that when I was a little girl and would watch Gunsmoke, I thought he was so handsome and couldn't figure out why he and Miss Kitty weren't married. They were so perfect for each other and obviously in love. :-)
I'm glad you got your electric blower. You're going to love it. Wishing you, your sweet husband and those cute puppies a wonderful Christmas.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

    1. Thank you Betsy. I always wondered about Matt and Miss Kitty too. You know, he never even kissed her in any of the shows. :) Hope you and all the family have a wonderful Christmas too. Hug Miss Piper for me.

    1. Henny! was just thinking..re the Santa picture..
One way you can reduce the glare is to tilt the
picture from the top..a piece of wood say, attach
it along the top, fix it back in the frame, so the
top is a little away from the frame..and the picture
slops downwards a little..and not completely flat..!
      Try it..might just work..! 🎅 🎄 🎅 🎄 🎅

    2. Willie, you say the funniest things! This cold weather makes my hair look like it was blow dried with a leaf blower. :) Hope you get to spend time with your daughter this Christmas. I've been looking at thrift shops for a Navity set. Think it would look pretty set up on a shelf in the old cupboard. I've always wanted one. Merry Christmas to you Willie. Oh I had the cutest picture of Smokey and forgot to add it to this post.

    3. Thank you Willie! That is a perfect idea for fixing the poster of Santa. It drives me crazy seeing the glare. Will post a picture after I get it fixed. Got therapy today so may be tomorrow. Thank you!

Are all the furry ones wearing Santa Hats by now? I just put my few cards out. I get some
on Dec. first and that is just too soon for me. I enjoy receiving them close to the holiday date.
Have a very Merry Christmas! Lynn and Precious XX

  13. I enjoyed seeing how you decorated for Christmas. Your western theme lends itself well to your log home. I think your additions to the wreath are very pretty and I love the natural touches.
When we moved to this house we purchased a battery powered leaf blower. I love that thing. There is such a feeling of satisfaction watching the leaves and other debris disappear from the porches and patios. :)
    That red barn is gorgeous!
Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  15. You've got your place all decorated and now you're in the Christmas mood!! I should give my old wreath that's hanging on the front door a few new baubles or something. I intend to look for a new one after Christmas ( at the thrift store, of course). I hope you and Poppy have a wonderful Christmas. ((hugs))

  16. Things looking very festive around your place.
So glad you like your new leaf blower - nice that it makes things easier for you. You should see me with a leaf blower - I have no control and just blow the leaves all over the place. :)
The barn looks like a home to me.

  19. How nice to have your leaves all taken care of. It's always good to get something like that which just keeps hanging around in the back of your mind dealt with so you can concentrate on other things. Hope your physical therapy is paying off and your wrist is getting stronger and stronger.

Love your decorations, they look so homey and nice----not all primped up like so many people do these days. I decorated (if you can call it that) yesterday putting big red bows on wreaths that I have hanging all year round for the most part and adding a little greenery ( little wiglets and small branches from the big pine trees that got blown down--a shame to just throw it away!) to baskets and things. Not much but it does make things a little bit more festive around here. A few more presents to find and some wrapping and maybe a few Christmas cards to send out and I'm pretty much off the hook for Christmas this year.

Thought of you last weekend when we had a terrific thunderstorm with thunder, lightening, wind and limbs blowing off trees-the whole nine yards! Hate to think of all those people down south who are all messed up right here before Christmas. It has to be especially hard just now, of course there's no time that's really convenient for that sort of inconvenience.

  20. I just love the wreath. Does holly grow wild by you? Or do you purchase it?
I also like the grey reindeer ornament on your tree, so cute.

  28. Sweet friend I love the western look. My dad would be right at home at your place. He loved the west. Always dressed up with his cowboy boots and cowboy hat. My mom was not fond of his attire but he was who he was and there was no stopping his cowboy ways. I adored him. Would give anything to see him coming through my door in his western clothes. Miss him. Thanks so much bringing back good memories. Love the red barn. Hugs!
