Christmas Angel, and Happy New Year!

Here it is New Year's Eve! Just doesn't seem possible. Look, I'm not prepared...I still have a little bit of Christmas stuff to talk about...

I was in the Safe Space thrift store a week or so before Christmas and saw the prettiest angel. I took her off a top shelf for a closer look...she was priced at $10.00...I sat her back on the shelf.

Well, the Thursday before Christmas I was back in the little thrift shop and noticed the sign on the door read, "all Christmas items 75% off". To my surprise, the angel was still there...

This time she came home with me and I paid only $2.50. Isn't she pretty?

I moved her from place to place before deciding she looked best on the table in the hallway...

Have you taken down all your Christmas decorations? We haven't! Normally, I take down and put away everything the day after Christmas but not this year. Sunday is supposed to cold and rainy. Hopefully, I will get it all done then. Looks like Eli is still waiting for Santa...

Anyhow, it's New Year's Eve out here in the woods. Poppy is watching, well, it was Gunsmoke, but now it's some old Western...probably with John Wayne or Audie Murphy. I did a little sewing tonight...almost finished two aprons but left it to do this post. We live very exciting lives out here. :)  Good grief! It's 9:34, bedtime!

Really just wanted to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Not making any resolutions but I sure do want to post a little more often in 2022. I appreciate you, my blogging friends, so much!

I've been playing in the teeny tiny greehouse these warm December days and have a few pictures. I hope to be back soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Love,

Henny

  3. Happy New Year to you, too!
Your angel is beautiful from the photo it looks like her dress is birch bark, very lovely and I don't think she needs to be put away at Christmas. She looks like she has fruits and vegetables like she's a garden angel.
It's supposed to reach -3° tonight, brrrrrrrrrrr! The good thing is that it's supposed to start slowly warming up in the next week. Not above freezing but at least back into the two digit numbers.
I was pleasantly surprised today when the phone rang and one of my dear friends told me her husband was coming over to shovel out my driveway with his four wheeler and blade. I am blessed with good neighbors, they watch out for me.
Looking forward to seeimg your post in 2022, hopefully it will be a better year for everyone.

  4. I'm sure glad you posted that photo of the angel on the hall table because I didn't realize how tall she is until I saw that photo. You got a great bargain and she's beautiful.
I would love more posts from you, but I know life gets busy. Love the picture of sweet Eli. I took down all of our decorations on Tuesday. I was ready.
Wishing you a blessed 2022 my dear friend.

  6. Your Christmas angel is so lovely! I'd keep her out all year round. I still have all Christmassy things up and I think I'll wait a week or more before I take it all down. It always seems so empty afterwards.
Happy New Year to you and Poppy and the furry ones!!

  7. What a great buy your angel turned out to be :)
Our Xmas decorations will probably stay up a few more days - it is too hot to think of doing too much at the moment!
May 2022 be a happy one for you and your loved ones, Mxx

    1. Thank you Willie. I bet the thrift shops here are closed today too. It is warm here too, 72 degrees and windy. I should hang Ellie's blankets out to sun and blow away some long white hairs. :) Happy New Year!

  10. Happy New Year, Henny. Love the angel and what a bargain. So glad for you it had not sold yet to someone else.
My tree is up until Monday. I enjoy it from about Dec 3, after Thanksgiving, until after the New Year. The more
light the better this time of year. It is pouring down this morn and tomorrow the bitter cold moves in. It's to
be 30 tomorrow instead of 60, then 18 tomorrow night. Last year I was shoveling snow every day from Christmas eve until New Years, so the rain this week has been easier to live with, lol. Always enjoy your posts when you can. Lynn and Precious

  11. Happy New Year to you, Poppy, creatures etc. I feel very hopeful that this new year will see things getting incrementally better and resolve into a more normal situation than we have had for the past couple of years. It sure can't come too soon for me!

I love the angel. She makes me think of you with her curly brown hair and carrying all those lovely vegetables in that basket like you do coming out of your teeny tiny garden all summer and fall. You're a good shopper, checking things out a second time for possible bargains.

    1. Hey Victoria and Happy New Year to you and yours (as Gomer Pile used to say) :) Oh I certainly hope this new year will be much better. I normally don't buy angels. I've just never decorated with them but fell in love with this one. I was in the greenhouse today. I found a tiny cabbage sprout growing in the compost bin. I dug it up and put it in a pot and inside the greenhouse. Guess it will die now. :)

  12. It's now New Year's Day. It's cold this morning, 24 degrees, and our old snow is still hanging around. The icicles have stopped dripping. We're carrying the old weather into the new year, but hope for a change soon.
Wishing you a peaceful New Year.

  13. Hello, dear HP!! Sounds like a lovely, cozy Christmas in the woods for you two. Eli is such a handsome fellow! We also are outside doing work on these gorgeous days! We are continuing with the "work" on the barn -- i.e., demolition :) It may become something useful yet.
The angel is so pretty. I like her wings. My tree is still up. I'm waiting till this coming week.

  14. That's a lovely angel, and an even lovelier price! We had a very dull New Year's Eve here. Wishing you a wonderful New Year! And I'd love to read more posts because I love seeing your sweet animals and your home! -Jenn

  15. Happy New Year, Melba! Just how we arrived in 2022 is a mystery to me! LoL I just love the angel and the price is ridiculously wonderful! All of our decorations are packed up and safely in the shed. I am always ready to put it away so I can get my O.C.D. back under control!

    Grace & Peace,
    Pam

  16. Happy New Year.
Yes, all our Christmas decorations were put away a couple of days ago.
Great deal on the angel - it was bigger than I thought when I saw the last picture.

  17. No, we haven't put anything away yet. Our decorations start with the tree the day after Thanksgiving and all stay up until the week after New Years (and even then I'm hesitant to take them down). Occasionally we forget something and see the Christmas bells on the dear antlers still there in the summer (ha). Your angel is really nice... and the price was great! Wishing you and yours a healthy happy 2022! And Eli looks very comfortable - best way to start the new year.

  18. Happy New Year to you and Poppy. I'm looking forward to catching up more often in the new year. I, too, would like to post more regularly. We are having warmer weather this winter so far but the cold is on it's way. I've been able to get out to the potting shed and poke around; potting up some cat grass for the cats. I'll be putting our tree ornaments away tomorrow and the tree I will prop up on the deck and fill with bird treats over winter. We seem to have more birds every year. Love and hugs to you, Poppy and the furry gang. Give Smokey an extra squeeze from me.

  21. I love your Angel. It was there waiting just for you...was meant to be. That experience has happened to me in a consignment store where the prices goes down the longer the item is there. Always a good "score, score" feeling..lol You can leave her out all year if you like...it looks like she fits in fine and would be good company..all year. Eli is so beautiful and adorable. ...I wish I could put my arms around his thick coat. :0) ... Happy 2022..Be blessed and thank you for brightening my internet life with your Blog.

  22. I like to have all signs of Christmas gone before the New Year. There actually are a few small pine boughs here and there, but they are drying out quickly. I love your Christmas angel. I wouldn't want to put her away either. I always enjoy your greenhouse pictures, so I will be watching. I hope you have a wonderful new year.

  23. Happy New Year to you too, Henny and to Poppy too. Always nice to read your posts. I'd say you did well getting that pretty angel at a good price. We will keep our Christmas decorations up for a week or two yet. My husband has to walk all the boxes across the way into another garage, and these days the walking is treacherous with ice and snow so we will wait for a warm up before doing that. May you have a very happy New Year and God's blessings all the way through!

  28. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are already enjoying the New Year. I think your angel is beautiful and she was meant just for you. It's cold here today in East Texas....but we are enjoying the break from the upper 80 temps. I have already taken down all of my Christmas and my house is now organized. Hope you have a beautiful week..

  29. Happy New Year Henny!!
We take our Christmas down next weekend, January 8th and 9th. We leave a few twinkle lights because it is just so dark and cold, it makes things a wee bit cozy.
