About three days ago I started a post using this picture, taken early morning after getting an inch of rain. The sun was peeping through a dark cloudy sky.
The high winds yesterday dried things out quickly, but left the yard strewn with sticks and limbs. We spent a good part of this morning cleaning up.
and here too.
I've been meaning to show you Bun Bun and Penny's baby...how big he has grown...
Isn't he a cutie pie? and he stood right up to have his picture taken. A funny bunny too. He told me he wants to be an Indian chief.
I mean, being born with a natural Indian headdress and all. He says he wants a real Indian name. I'm just stumped! Any suggestions, please? This boy needs a name.
And, here's the recipe for the peanut brittle, that turned out right!
Doc's Peanut Brittle
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. white corn syrup
1/4 c. water
2 c. raw peanuts
1 tsp. soda
Cook sugar, water, and corn syrup together in a 2 1/2 quart saucepan until it forms a thread. Add raw peanuts, stirring continuously, until mixture turns light brown. Remove from heat; add soda and stir well. Spread on buttered cookie sheet. Let cool, then break.
Well finally, a finished post, "such as it is", as mama used to say.
Hope to be back soon!
Love,
Henny
Tonto? Chief Runs with Carrots? LoL Such a cute bunny!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
What interesting markings on that rabbit! He does look like an Indian Chief. Is there perhaps a NC tribal name or word for rabbit that would work? Or "Feather".
ReplyDeletebunny is very cute
ReplyDeleteI think "Chief" would be a good name, not too complicated for a sweet bunny. I'm ready for our flowering bushes and trees to get buds, but know it's too soon. I actually hope the peaches don't flower yet; we'd probably get a freeze before it's the right time.
ReplyDeleteHow about Tom Tom?
ReplyDeleteThe baby bunny is so cute! I'm stumped as to a name but others had good suggestions, some of them made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a hard time finding the time to do a post but it's things to write about that I can't seem to find.
Looks like you've got the beginnings of a splendid Easter Tree with your pretty blossoms! My mom used to start one at this time every year and then would hang little Easter bonnets amongst the pretty spring blossoms. Ooooh I love that new bunny of yours....he's a real darling. Wish I could think of a good Indian name for him....I'm sure somebody will. Love your blog Henny!
ReplyDeleteI think he looks like Chief Brown Eyes.
ReplyDeleteYour blooming shrubs look gorgeous. No blooming shrubs around here yet but many little green noses peeking out and a few early things (crocus, winter aconite, and snowdrops) blooming.
Chief came right in to my mind and I see into others too. He has such unusual markings.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to post because I have to have the whole post in my head to write it.
ReplyDeleteFrank said you should name him Cochise after John Waynes horse in his movie El dorado. We all love John Wayne movies at our house. He was also a Chiricahua Apache. I need to cut me some flowers for the house. I am so slack.
ReplyDeleteLove you bunches
Oh, he is so cute. I wanted to come up with a clever name, but my mind is a blank. He does have an Indian headdress doesn't he and the markings on his eyes are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteYour blossoms are beautiful, it looks like you are getting a early spring :)
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Connie :)
I would love to have a bunny but guess it is not to be! I also have a hard time getting posts for my blog written. My prescription to Mother Earth News just ran out and I didn't renew. Not a whole lot in them that applies to me but they are a good magazaine. Nancy
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a freshly-picked spring bouquet but we still have some snow. :( blah!
ReplyDeleteYours look very pretty. What a sweet bun. And so unique looking. I look forward to hearing what you name him. Hugs to all.
My how your baby bunny has grown! Since Bun Bun is his dad you could always call him Chief Son of Bun ; ) but that is such a long name so maybe like others suggested just Chief? I love his markings!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe!
The daffodils and blossoms look beautiful, a wonderful nod to Spring which seems to have been a longtime in coming this year. He really does look like he is wearing a headress so maybe Yuma would make a good name which means son of chief.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I would do the same with those twigs full of blossoms. They can't be garbage!
ReplyDeleteThat bunny is huge, or maybe that's normal. I know nothing about bunnies except that they're cute.
Your call for help naming him, sent me online for a)Native tribes of NC, and b)the word for bunny or chief in one of the 8 tribal languages...Not joking. Sort of embarrassed to admit.
I only checked in Cherokee and Coharie, though, and I can't pronounce the words.
I'm sure there's a great word out there that's perfect for the little guy but I would go with an earlier suggestion of Chief Runs With Carrots! So funny. Good luck!
How about Chief Powder Puff. He is a cutie.
ReplyDelete*Chief Funny Bunny* comes to mind. He really is a cutie... and may have personality to boot! Love your flower arrangements - especially the one with the peach tree blossoms.
ReplyDeleteTonto came to my mind first but I see lots of people are going for Chief.
ReplyDeleteAfter a little thought, I came up with Bandit.
The spring flowers are lovely.
I love your sweet old fashioned table!--the tablecloth( it's a beauty!!), the salt/peppers shakers, the gorgeous spring bouquet, and the lamp. Very welcoming, very cozy.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for that recipe! My husband loves, loves peanut brittle and I've never made it. But your recipe looks like I could manage it -- it doesn't call for a candy thermometer.
ReplyDeleteAwww...you've had peach blooms already! My husband's grandmother used to write us each year to tell us when the peach trees were in bloom in her area. It was the area where my husband grew up and there were a lot of orchards in that area. Now there are very few. I guess people nowadays don't care for the hard work. I enjoyed seeing your pink blossoms! And your forsythia...and is that baby's breath that is also in the picture. Your daffodils are pretty, too. Isn't it lovely to be able to bring inside the beauty of God's creation?
ReplyDeleteThe bunny is SO cute...and his standing up to pose for you to take his picture is pricelss! He must love his human. :) I'm afraid I don't have a name for him though. :/
Have a lovely week, my friend.
That bun bun is a darling! I'm glad you find time to post on your blog. It's a nice glimpse into someone else's life! We live in a city with house close by.
ReplyDeleteOh he's such a cutie pie!! I'm stumped on a name, though...everything that's coming to my mind sounds silly! But here's a link with some names and their meanings - perhaps you will find just the right thing!

What a sweet bunny! He does look quite sincere. I think his name should start with "Chief," like Chief Thumper, or something like that :) He's a doll. Your first photo is so pretty, it looks like those white blooms are just exploding out of your house. I'm so ready for spring! Those winds were just awful! We have lots of pine cones and tree trash around too. I want warm weather and to be out in my gardens all afternoon.
