Oh dear me! I've simply got to get back in the sewing room. There are bonnets  to be made, and new aprons to add to the shop, and dolls to finish.
January and February are not exactly my favorite months of the year!

I did manage to pull out the old work  baskets yesterday, and again today...
I made a new door to the guinea lot. The old door was in a tight spot, and a real pain to go in and out, especially if carrying feed or bucket of water.

and finally got around to cutting down another skinny little maple sapling to use for doll sticks...
we sat on the old bench down near the pond.

Eli was asleep on the porch, so Weetie stood guard as I sawed and sanded...

Friday, my cousin Pat stopped in to see us. We were glad to see her, but my goodness, Eli was more than excited...

He was sure her visit was just to see him.

You've probably heard that we have snow coming tomorrow. Yep, the weather man said there is a 98% chance that right in this very spot...there will be snow.

Okay, I'm off to the sewing room. Hopefully, I will do more than stand and stare at the fabric in the closet.

Love,
Henny

  1. I've been standing and staring, in my sewing room, too! I just can't get myself motivated! I have a pocket knife, just like yours, though it is dreadfully dull. It was my Daddy's. Love that Eli and of course her visit was just to see him!

    Grace & Peace,
    Pam

Wow Henny, you've got a lot of beautiful material in that closet! Can't wait to see what you're going to do with it all, I love that Eli....he's so beautiful and always looks so happy! Hope you don't get too much snow. It's been a crazy winter so far! Take care and have fun sewing!

    1. Hey Diane! It has been a crazy winter, even here, where we don't usually get that much snow and below freezing temperatures. Wish I could get motivated to use up all that fabric in the closet. Some of it is old and ugly.

  3. You are so smart getting so much done everyday. I wish I was that smart. I feel like after I exercise I am not worth much. Oh well. If y'all get snow share some pictures with us. Love you bunches!

  4. You have a lot of material! I have been doing the 15 minute sewing challenge so that has helped me get more done. Eli is so pretty with all that white hair! We got snow today and iunder a winter weather advisory. Nancy

  6. I'm glad Weetie stands guard while you cut and sand the doll sticks. I'm not sure if you've ever shared how you make the dolls. I may just have forgotten if you did.

  7. I just love that you even cut your own wood to make the dolls! I love to see all the different dolls you make along with your other sewing! You are such a talented person! That picture of Eli and Pat is something. He is bigger than her! I'm sure she loved the attention he gave her as much as what she gave him. Eli is such a handsome boy! Be careful with that snow tomorrow - maybe you can just stay in and sew. We have had such cold weather and snow here. Seems like we hardly ever even get above freezing and lately have stayed in the single digit temps. When it is this cold we stay in all the time and eventually get cabin fever! I need to get to sewing on a quilt but I can't hardly get my motivation up in this weather! Take care Henny!

    1. Bonnie, I'm the same way, thinking, when the weather is bad, I will sew or embroider or clean out closets, but then when the weather is bad, I'm not in the mood. I stand and look out the window. Not getting above freezing gets old!! At least, we have warmer days here and there. Thank you, I love your comments.

  8. We ended up with snow, too. Not like you, I'm sure; but it is way too cold for Louisiana!
Take care, be safe and stay warm, Henny. God bless.

  9. I understand the inspiration block my dear friend! I just love the adorable bonnets, aprons and all your crafty hands find to do. How sweet of Eli to be so welcoming to your cousin's visit! Too funny! I hope the snow doesn't cause any major issues for your area! Stay warm, dry and cozy, and I hope the inspiration comes soon for you... I dislike those blocks too, especially when you have projects that need to be done, lol! Hugs to you today :)

  10. I could happily stand and stare in your sewing room, it looks so enticing. All that colour, all those prints and as for the button jars..... i love the way that Weetie has one ear on red alert and the other at rest. Eli looks as though his delight just tired him out.

  15. I had sort of forgotten how big Eli is until I saw the photo with him and your cousin. He is such a huge sweetie! Just think of this: the snowstorm will be a good time to get lots of sewing done. I hope you don't get too much. We are supposed to have ice over night, AGAIN. We will just stay home until it melts.

  16. You are so creative Henny !
I just love my little apron you made, I wore it at Christmas :)
Eli is so happy to see your cousin, he's such a big boy :)
Hope you don't get too much snow, we are on the backside of it now, but temperatures are awfully cold.
    Hugs,

  17. I love when you take us inside your sewing room; lots of nice things to sit and stare at! With snow coming you may find time to do some sewing. Of course, there will still be animals to feed and .... Take care!

  18. Hi Henny! Just wait until you get in the mood to sew. Sometimes when I am ironing I just plop down and sew a bit. It's easy to get caught up in projects and the time flies! Snow! A good excuse for hot chocolate! Eli is so funny!

  20. so glad you stopped by, and enjoyed the fur house post...sure is a strange looking sight for sure! How is the sewing coming? Those are gorgeous bonnets, you do a great job! Is it still snowing? Hope you'll put up some pretty pictures of it for us? That Eli is one big fluffy GORGEOUS DOG, I'd just love to give him a hug! He's so pretty.

  22. Oh my goodness!!! Look at your beautiful fabric stash! My yarn stash doesn't have shelves like that, but bags :( -- so I can't see it all at once, haha. Yes, snow came, didn't it? Your puppy does look happy to have company!

  23. I too need to get in my sewing room. At least you are ahead of me! Your room looks so much more organized in mine. I do my fabric in rolls so that I can pull one out without disturbing the rest, and if I'm lucky I can shove it back into the same hole. Sounds good in theory but doesn't always work that way!

  24. I cleaned out my fabric stash last night and gave several things away. It was freeing!
