Busy outside today

Supposedly, we have snow coming our way Friday night, but I will believe it when the ground is white. When the weather people are this sure about a big snow storm, we usually get rain. We'll see.

Anyhow, to be safe, we moved the mama hen and baby chicks into the big house with the big chickens...

it's safer and warmer, and the other chickens will benefit from the heat lamp too, with all this cold weather coming our way. Looking warm and cozy inside.

the chicks enjoyed exploring the big open space...

I piled sticks and limbs around this old stump and have been amazed at how all the chickens, even the older hens,  have enjoyed climbing on them.

anything wrong Ms. Hen?

While we worked, Eli practiced balancing on the logs in the goat lot...

not much room for sitting!
Good boy, Eli!

Not much of a post. Looks like I need to buy a new camera. Maybe a better camera. Lately, my pictures look fuzzy. Got to have pictures!

It's almost 9:30 here and feels like bedtime. It was a busy day. Hope to be back soon.

Love,
Henny

It's also fun to know that the hens like to climb and play too.

  2. Reminds me of my brother's great dane. She wants to be a lap dog but she's the size of a pony.

  3. Hi Henny,
Eli looks like he is having fun. Love the photos today.
Let us know if you get snow. Do you ever have frost in your area or is that rare like snow?
Love from your WAY UP NORTH friend in Wisconsin who had -13 degrees this morning!

  4. I love the coloring of the two dark hens. They're beautiful. I hope you don't get much snow. The snow hit us last night, but it's so fluffy that my husband cleared our driveway and those of 5 or 6 neighbors with a leaf blower. It was too fluffy and dry to even make a snowball. If you do get snow, I hope it's not heavy and wet.

  5. Funny, my camera has been taking fuzzy pics too. About half of the ones I take I delete.
Eli makes me laugh, seeing him try to fit his bum on the stump.

  6. Hi Henny, I am having trouble with my camera too! I heard you were to get snow Friday. Glad you have the chickens tucked up. They all look very cosy. Eli is hilarious!

  7. I couldn't imagine trying to keep chickens warm in our climate. Woke up to -17C this morning, Only one squirrel at the feeder until the sun came up and the mourning doves braved the cold. I love how you take such good care of everyone. Rosie finds Eli very entertaining, I see.

  8. We received our snow that was predicted starting around noon yesterday (Thursday). I think it has stopped now...at least for a while. We probably have about 4-5 inches. If you do end up getting yours tonight your chickens will be nice and warm.

  13. Your picture of Eli made me laugh ! A big, beautiful white dog balancing on 2 logs and then sitting there looking noble in spite of himself.

Your chickens look pretty cozy to me , and busy too. I love the way chickens are so easily entertained. All we have to do is tur over a rock, a log, or put something shiny into their pen and they have a wonderful time. They are so much fun.

    Stay warm !
