A teeny tiny yard sale

How do you like this mess? Last Monday Poppy put the yard sale signs up on the highway.

We have actually had a few customers, made a little money, and got rid of some things. Kind of enjoyable too. I told Poppy just today that is was nice to sit out in the yard and talk without the TV blaring between us. It felt good to say something without being shushed! Maybe we should do this more often.

Some rather matronly looking frocks hanging on our makeshift clothes rack. I'm known for bringing home clothes from the thrift store and never wearing them.

Eli said he's not used to so many people coming and going out here in the woods...

Feels good to get things cleaned up and put away. Yard sales can be work!

Hope you all are having a good weekend!

Love,
Henny

  1. One yard sale convinced me it was way to much work. Your yard looks like a wonderful place to sit and breath in the peace and quiet. I could go for that. Especially if I had Eli with me.

Beautiful Eli, he looks completely wore out :)

  4. I have never done a yard sale. we just donate stuff to Goodwill. It's just easier, and we never have that much stuff to get rid of.

  7. Glad you did well.

I enjoy going to yard sales but do not enjoy having them.

    Enjoy the weekend.

  8. Sounds like you enjoyed doing your yard sale day! We just did a garage sale and I don't like doing them although I do like talking to some of the people! Nancy

  9. That part of your post where you mention bringing home clothes from the thrift store and then never wearing them really hit a nerve here. I HAVE to stop doing that. When looking in my closet for something red to wear for Canada Day I saw I had a pretty top that I've never worn. Tried it on and it's at least a size too small. Now, why would I have bought it? It's so nice but now I have to put it in the 'donation box'. Have a happy 4th.

  10. It is nice just to sit outside sometime away from the distractions and noises of indoors. I love your cosy living room. I just noticed the wonderful Native American prints. I'm partial to such things. Happy July 4th, around the corner;-)

  14. Looking at your yard sale photo, I can see several things I might have bought. Yard sales are hard work, I agree. I hope yours was fairly successful. Poor Eli. Mandy would be barking her head off during something like that!

  15. Yard sales are a WHOLE LOT of work! But it's great to get rid of stuff and always fun to chat with the people who come. I would have loved to come to your sale because I bet you had some fun stuff to sell. Eli looks pooped out after greeting so many people. I bet you guys were, too.

  16. Yard Sales: I have a lov/hate relationship with them. We have only had one, maybe two, and they definitely are WORK. I always feel that I need to neaten up (dust etc) the stuff that's being put out (which my husband says is ridiculous) and the pricing always challenges me. They are nice though in that you actually get paid for a bunch of stuff that otherwise is just sitting there cluttering up the place.

  19. I used to love to go to yard sales...but I haven't in years. My girls like to have sales, but not here. I'm glad you made a little money and the best part is to get rid of "stuff". Hope you and Poppy are having a nice holiday weekend. My husband is working, so I'm cleaning. UGH.

  21. It looks like your weather is just right for a yard sale. My husband and I are packing to move this week and we have been getting rid of everything we don't need! I may be w/o internet but I'll catch up with you asap. God bless your Fourth of July!
