Tired, sleepy, and dumb too (me, not Eli)

Eli and I feel about the same today!

Here it is twenty til four, late afternoon and I have wasted the day away. Big plans I had of getting a ton of stuff done! Poppy is in a meeting in Raleigh and said not to look for him home before seven tonight. So what have I done? Again, wasted the day away! Here's the problem. The clock alarmed at 4:20 this morning. Poppy needed to be at the store at 6:00. Same thing yesterday. I am tired and my mind is not functioning. Seriously.

I go outside and stand and stare thinking, what am I out here for.  The volunteer vine is moving right along.

There are big yellow blooms but no fruit. Every blossom falls off like it was snipped off with scissors. I wonder why.

Oh! misspelled words! In my post about fishing I spelled Bream...Brim. Good grief, how embarrassing! I do know that Bream, not brim, is a fish. :)
Did you read Red's post on hiawathahouse.blogspot.com about embarrassment? I should have written that post. I'm good at embarrassing myself. Oh well, this too shall pass.

This peach tree I moved in early spring seem to be doing good. It has several small peaches.

That heavy duty yellow drop cord, actually there are two, hanging over the little door that goes under the house is where the dehumidifiers are running, hopefully drying things out.

Okay, I don't feel capable of writing a decent post today, so I'll push away from the computer for now. Sure glad you stopped by.

Love,
Henny

    1. Thank you. Oh gosh, back when Poppy and were dating, my dream was to build a cabin in the Ozarks and live off the land. I bought every issue of Mother Earth News to read about people who were doing that. I agree about Eli and Keeper. Poppy and I talk about how Eli acts like he knows everything we talk about. We've started spelling some words. :) It's the way he looks at us.

    1. Thank you. Dessert and desert, forty and fourty are two that I never know which is right, and usually pick the wrong one.

  9. That first photo of Eli perfectly illustrates a no energy day. Consider it a rest day. Your get-up-and-go is not gone. You will find it.

    1. You're right. I do need to just let it be a rest day and not worry about it. Thank you. :)

  12. That looks like a courgette to me, (small marrow) the flowers that fall off are male flowers, it's the female ones that produce the fruit.
I go outside and upstairs all the time and forgot what I've gone there for, I call it my 'senior moments'

    1. Oh I hope that's what it is. This morning I noticed where a slug had crawled and wondered if they bite off blooms. Glad to hear I'm not the only one having senior moments. I'm sure having a bunch of them! Thank you Wean.

  13. We all need days where we do nothing more taxing that breathing. And you usually accomplish more in one day than most people to in a week, so you're due.
Embarrassing yourself? How about the post I wrote on grammar and a reader left a comment pointing out an error? And I'm an ex-English teacher!

    1. Marty Marty that sure makes me feel better. :) You know, I think your post on grammar in one that I missed. Of course, now I've got to go back and read it. :) When others make errors, I think nothing of it. But when it is me, I feel like the biggest idiot around.

  14. Some days are like that. My allergies wipe me out and I wonder around in a fog.
When we have plants that drop their blossoms we feed them epson salt, usually helps.

    1. Oh allergies can sure make you sick. I have a bag of epson salt. I'll sprinkle a little around the roots. Thank you.

  15. Dear Henny,
I bet just thinking about doing your tag sale with the girls is making you tired! All that organizing, and then you expect a hot day! Let's hope you have a ton of customers and come home with an empty Corolla and lots of $$. I need to weed out lots of things and don't know if I would have the energy to do a yard sale. Our home has 2 Goodwill stores within 1 1/2 miles. Hope you feel revived, and have room in the car for a cooler and some frosty beverages!

  16. I think those days when you don't feel like doing anything constructive are meant to be savored. After all, a list is really just a bunch of letters written on a piece of paper and the earth won't stop turning if you don't get any of those things done. Just sitting down and enjoying all you have accomplished is worth doing every once in awhile.

  17. No energy comes over me once in a while, too, and then the next day, for no apparent reason, I'm all energetic again. I guess we just need that day of down time. Don't feel guilty!

  19. My Elli was tooo tired to do much yesterday so he just lazed around then I took him out for a big burger at five guys and I had my salad at home when we got the burger...Your Elli looks relaxed and happy, one has to just go with the flow, it has been so hot and no humidity here baking us like cookies then the cool breezes come in the evening and my hubs Elli just melts into a recline chair thingie I got two years ago that reclines and sleeps of course our cats love to join him and I hear him from the kitchen snoaring and the kitteh cats purring and it is a hoot, my Elli more of a dog person but he is gentle and kind to all living creatures and human beings, hope you got some rest and relaxation..ciao

  20. It's already been sort of mentioned, but the when a squash first starts blooming, there are only male flowers. Not sure why, maybe to get the pollinators trained to come to the plant. The female flowers, well you can tell which ones they are because they have a tiny version of the squash right behind the flower, whereas the male flowers just have that skinny stem.
