Seriously! Where do the days go?

It's been raining here for the last hour or so. We sat on the front porch. The rain brought down lots of little willow oak leaves. It looked like fall. Lifted my spirits.

Before the rain I was up at the teeny tiny greenhouse where the little succulents are growing and making themselves quite at home.

Can you tell they've grown? A few years ago, neighbor Ann gave me the faded, paint chipped, pots. Someone had thrown them out so Ann gathered them up and brought them to me. I think these pots are just right for the little succulents.

In case you're wondering about the junk under the pots...

Well, I had to move all the "old motor-grader road" museum items up to the greenhouse. Poppy said to throw them in the pile going to the junk man, but I simply could not part with them. For those of you who don't know...

the dirt path we live on used to be called "the old motor-grader road".  For a long long time, with every walk, we found old rusted metal pieces; plow points, nuts & bolts, tools, old bottles, etc.. I just can't part with them. Most pieces are probably over 100 years old. Maybe I'll hang a little sign on the greenhouse; "Old Motor-grader Road Museum".  :)

Who knew, I would love succulents so much??

Such pretty little plants...

Okay, enough is enough!

The Antique Tractor Show last Saturday...where I was a vendor...well, it wasn't as much fun as the last one. Not as many vendors, not as many folks walking around. I made a measly $58.00 after all the work and toil of packing, setting up, standing in the hot sun for hours...

The older gentleman with the Model T was there but had his wife along so we didn't see much of him. Last time he was buying bonnets and giving everyone rides. Hummm!

Here's a picture from last time...

Anyhow, here's some of the little dolls I made and carried to the sale...

and a group of homely looking little fellows...

Guess I will get up from here now and go put supper on the table. Don't know what struck me but yesterday I cooked collards, turnips, sweet potatoes, dried butter beans, and cornbread. Had plenty left over so will just warm it up.

Thank you friends for stopping by. Seems like I had something important to post...oh!!! I just remembered!!! It's Poppy's brand new carport...

Never really wanted a carport but now that its here, it's kind of nice. I like it okay...Poppy LOVES it.

Thank you!!

Love,

Henny

How cool to have all those old parts from the road!

  3. I was given a succulent as a "thank you" like the one in the last photograph. Hope I don't kill it. The carport will be very welcome the first time it snows or freezing rain is dumped on you (well, if you don't get snow or freezing rain then when the water is liquid)

  4. Your succulents are growing; and look nice and healthy. I love your long hair lady dolls. Those tiny outfits must be so hard to sew. Poppy's new carport is great; a nice addition to your already wonderful property.

  6. I like succulents, too. They're so different; all so unique. I love the little doll you sent me years back. She sits on the dresser in my loft and my granddaughter loves to play with her. I'm surprised she still has her clothes on. lol Poppy's carport looks really nice. He will sure love it when the snow is kept off his truck. We need one for our old tractor. Hope everyone is doing fine. Give all the furry ones a hug for me. Maybe two for Smokey. Take care xo

  7. That's funny about the Model T guy being a bit more reserved since his wife was with him! I love those bonnets! The old tool pieces ARE interesting, Henny!

  8. Dear Henny....so many good and interesting things in your post today! Your succulents are so cool! I love them and they are surely doing well by you! that's awesome. Glad you're hearing the pitter patter of raindrops...that always puts me in a good mood, as long as it's not a big storm! Poppy's new carport looks pretty good. Glad he loves it and I'm sure you'll get used to it! I just love your beautiful dolls. That must have been a pretty quiet sale if you didn't sell out all your sweet dolls!!! You do such a wonderful job on them. Hope your next sale will be better! Take good care!

  9. I'm sorry your day at the tractor show was a bit of a disappointment. The dolls are cute, especially those boy dolls. I like your collection of pots and succulents. Seems one can never have too many pots.
That's a nice carport. It will keep Poppy's pick-up nice and dry.

  10. Those succulents are taking off growing very well. It's no surprise though because you really have a green thumb! The things from the "old motor-grader road" are great little pieces of history. I've always loved anything old like that. Your dolls are just beautiful and the little boy dolls are so cute! If there would have been more people at the show you'd have sold every one of them!

better in a terracotta pots..gives them a bit of
    character...! :).

And..the little dolls look great to..especially
the little fellows...Though l think you ought
to make some more little fellows, the little
girls outnumber the little fellows..HeHe! did
l get that all the right way round..! :O).

  12. When we dug up the yard to add an addition to the house (a house we have now moved from), I kept everything we found in the dirt. Old bottles etc. Nice port to store the truck.

  13. I think it looks like a great carport for the truck. It'll help keep leaves and branches and twigs from filling up the back end when that's not what you want in it. I love the dolls I'm sorry that the so did not bring more money in for your hard work. It's a toss-up around here, some of our shows go over very well with this covid, and others don't get much of an audience. Love seeing your pictures and your flowers look great. Lynn and Precious

  14. Hi Henny- Back in 1993 I had a Stall at Parramatta Hall selling my Scratch Built Models - I made $1,000 for the weekend and did the same again in 1994...I guess my secret was reduced prices for my items- they were priced to clear. Anyway- I've enjoyed your Posting - with Poppy's new Carport- such a good idea. Best Wishes. KEV.

  15. Blogger was acting silly for me yesterday! Just dropping in to say you will love that carport when it's cold because it will keep ice off the windshields! I would trade my garage gladly for a carport, being such a bad driver I can't get the car into the garage so it sets in the open! I agree with you, keep those old artifacts from the Old Motor Grader road! I can't believe you didn't sell out of the dolls, they are adorable, both the girls and the boys!

  16. When you get some pretty vines growing up the poles of the new carport it will seem more at home there. I love your little succulents in the pots.

  17. Oh yes, please set up a little Museum sign. I love little quirky things like that around the garden, and even more so when they are things you feel attached/attracted to. The succulents look great in those rustic pots, a perfect match :)

  18. I love the little pots! The chips and different colors are so charming! I also love all the things you've found on the road.
We used to do shows like that. Bob did woodworking, I did sewing, cross stitch... Some were great, and then there were those you worked all day and not much happened. Sorry you had one of those days.

  19. I just love the succulents!!
I also love the Old Road story. I say, yes, keep the artifacts. Too much of our history is being taken down.
    Love, Carla

  25. So many things you talked about here, but the motor grader path is something familiar to me. I used to live near the old city dump and we were always pulling treasures up, brings back memories, Henny. Take care of yourself, love ya! Terry
