Fun in Wake Forest

Wake Forest, NC
Dear friends,

Sorry to have been gone so long. Isn't it always something!! Last night I sat here at the computer for over an hour trying to start a post...with a blank mind. I'm beginning to worry. Seriously!

Thinking about Poppy, who never had any sinus problems, yet having had sinus surgery less than a year ago because of a sinus infection that would not clear up...and considering my recent unusual dentist visit, not because of a tooth ache, but because all my teeth ached and learning from the x-rays that day in the dentist chair that I had a serious sinus infection...and now having gone through surgery myself.

Then remembering back a few months when we discovered the hot water leak under the house that had gone on for two month, got me to thinking..."MOLD"! Could it be?Anyhow, we have used dehumidifiers and treated for mold and mildew but still probably need to call in a professional and have things checked out. Always something!

On a happier note, the birthday outing with Lynn and Andee was just the best day ever! Andee drove from Virginia, picked me up and we met Lynn in Wake Forest.

The little shops on main street are busy on a Saturday morning.

Lots of antique shops and fun places to look.

We must have spent an hour or more in the Goodwill store looking and laughing,

then left Lynn's car parked and Andee did the driving to

the Mellow Mushroom for lunch.

The day passed way too fast, as they always do.

I am so far behind with everything right now. Think I'll burn that dad-blamed "to do" list, write down somewhere in big letters, "I AM RETIRED", then do what needs to be done, when I can, and stop worrying!

With that said, I am on my way out the door to finish cleaning and painting the outside of the shop. The front is finished. Painted dark brown. I'll have pictures! :)

Hope you haven't totally deleted me yet. Hopefully, I will get it together and be back here soon. Thank you.

Love,
Henny

  2. Sounds like a really nice day out for you. It's really good to have family close enough around to do some visiting once in awhile. My nearest family is 13 hours south of here so don't make it down there very often.

There just might be a connection between the mold and your sinus problems. It's a good idea you have to check out the situation below in case it hasn't been completely rectified by the steps that you all have already taken.

    1. Goodness, 13 hours is a long way. My youngest daughter is 3 hours away, but that's not too bad. We've got to have the mold thing checked out. Thank you Vic.

You're not alone. Sometimes I have no clue what I'm going to post next, either. Thank goodness inspiration does hit us eventually... :)

  5. You had a lovely day out with your two girls, how nice!
My mind seems to blank out all the time on blog posts. I always think, just do a short simple one, but it never seems to turn out that way.

    1. Oh, I just don't get enough of those kind of days. Probably only one time a year can the three of us get together, so I really enjoy it.

  9. It took me almost a year to convince my hubby that we were retired. So glad to hear you are doing well. Sinus problems are so annoying!

  10. I understand the writing dry spell. I'll need to get some chickens, or move somewhere interesting where exciting things happen.
Yes, I think checking on that mold is a really good idea.

  13. I'm glad you had a great day with your girls. Mold is a dangerous thing. It invades and grows where you can't see it, but it sure gets in the air. I taught for a couple of years in a basement classroom with stone foundation walls that seeped moisture. I was sick a lot, had lots of sinus infections, and terrible sinus headaches. Thank goodness I got away from that. Now that I'm retired, I do pretty much what I want, when I want. I don't even have a set day to do specific household chores like I used to. I do the work when I see that it needs to be done. My stress level has gone way down. Who cares what day you vacuum or do laundry? Not me. Life is to be enjoyed, not endured. Part of my enjoyment is reading blogs! I certainly enjoy yours, but don't want you to feel guilty when you don't post. Don't stress over it!

    1. That is so scary! I've been reading how doctors sometimes have no idea that mold is the cause of someone's illness. Last night we ordered a nice air purifier, one that helps with mold spores. We need one anyway living with so many animals around. I hope I can remember what you have said about being retired. Honestly, who does care? I feel like a terrible lazy person if I sit down during the day. Than you, Peg. I'm glad you enjoy blogs. I look forward to your comment on mine.

  14. It's so nice to find you blogged today. I just thought Poppy being home was the reason you didn't have a moment to yourself, *smile*
Once he goes back to work you'll catch up on all those pesky chores, I'm sure.

  17. Very happy to know about your day with the lovely girls, you three are certainly the leaders of the "long hair is beautiful society"! I hope there isn't a mold issue, but if there is, it might explain some of your health problems. I am sure you will keep us posted. Best of luck!
