Getting stuff done!

No matter how many times Poppy says he is done building stuff around here...he ends up with a hammer in his hand, finishing up what I start. Actually, I was pretty proud of my work on the rabbit hutch. Even Poppy said he was impressed. Together we finished it...

And, Bun Bun is in his new home, inside the goat's lot...

Also, most of the trim on the back of the house is finished. Poppy, bless his heart, finished up those high spots. Yeah, I was supposed to get that done on Saturday but something kept telling me to stay off the top of that ladder. Now it's that faded old fascia board that ruins the look. We will get to that soon. And the pitiful looking bushes on the right were once big beautiful sweet smelling Gardenias. The unusually cold winter was very hard on them. These are slowly beginning to come back. And the sunflower...

Wait, here's a better shot...

As mama used to say, it volunteered and came up...and what a perfect spot.

On to the teeny tiny garden. We could really use a shower of rain along about now...

The bean vines have almost covered the little wattle fence...and the one eggplant looks like it might survive...

Time to start supper...AGAIN! Thank you for visiting.

Love,
Henny Penny

  1. That's a fine looking rabbit hutch. Nothing like collaboration. I bet Bun Bun loves it.

I know what you mean about the gardenias taking a beating with the past winter. I had a huge hydrangea bush, big Knockout rose bush, a large St John's Wort bush and a Chaste Tree (just a tall bush this far north) which all died back to the ground. All those big empty spaces looked pretty pitiful. They are all bounding back now except for the St. John's Wort (it's always late to show any growth) but there are a few new branches coming back from the base finally. Actually it may have been a good thing since I was able to divide some offsets of the hydrangea and the St John's Wort which would have been difficult with all the top growth still there in the way. And they are coming back nice and bushy which is nice. The rose is even blooming although much, much shorter than usual.

    1. Thank you! About the cold winter, both my fig trees died back to the ground and are just now putting out new growth. I was hoping to have figs this year, but I guess not. You must have a beautiful yard. Glad things are coming back! Knockout roses are great, aren't they?

  3. It's a lovely hutch for Bun Bun, it will make a little rabbit a fine home......
Your garden is growing well, and your flowers look beautiful. After the cold winter we all experienced I'm surprised any flowers and shrubs survived.
I love your home and setting.

    1. Thank you, Jo. I was looking at Bun Bun's home and thinking, if this were in Jo's yard it would be beautifully painted and decorated...which I just might try doing! It needs something!

  7. Hello there, good to see all the progress on the hutch, the home and the garden. I haven't looked at the blog for a bit, and you have been very productive! I made some art yesterday, felt like I accomplished something, but I didn't have to pull any nails and break down a pallet first. I loved the picture of Eli and his little bear, he is the most adorable dog, and I know you must love him to pieces. Hope your other animals are not too jealous! Everything is looking so green and pretty.

    1. Good to hear from you Pam. Hey, if I had your talent I would not be tearing down pallets! :) Eli with his bear is one of my favorite pictures too.
