Home, home in the leaves

Sorry things are a little messy around Randall Rabbit's home. Things seem to take on a ragged look in the winter months, don't you think? I was on my way down to feed him. If you look closely, you can see poppy through the wire fence.

awww, here we are...

The little veranda I had been building around Randall's house, Poppy saw as the perfect spot to sit and watch the deer at the end of the dam. He and Randall keep each other company.

Seems Randall sees the deer first and signals to Poppy by thumping loudly.  Late yesterday, Poppy texted me to Look out the living room window. There were eight deer at the end of the dam.

Taking a break. Apple peels are his favorite treat...

Randall sure is a sweetie pie. I missed the perfect opportunity to adopt a companion for him. Makes me sad to think about it. The Orange County Animal Services, about an hour's drive from here, had a large grey and white female, "spayed" rabbit that needed a home. I was ecstatic. This was late afternoon on Friday before the last big craft show. They are closed on Sunday, so I promised to be there Monday morning. Well, someone came and adopted her on Saturday. :(

Oh well, maybe it was for the best. So, while Randall helps Poppy hunt Smokey keeps me company...

Can't resist picking him up for a hug. He is so warm and cuddly these cold winter days...

His look says he had rather have the soft cushion back, so I got back to my work.

Well friends, just a little Randall and Smokey post. I have been in the Christmas decorating mood and hopefully will be back with a bit of a Christmas post. I actually got around to making an ice box fruit cake yesterday. Yum! So easy and so delicious!

Rian, hope you can visit and see our big boy, Randall. :)

Love, Henny

Oh yes, almost forgot, "Home home in the leaves...

  1. Henny, love seeing the "pets" which does include Poppy, lol. Hope he got one of those 8. Or come here and get one of our 20 or more! Get your Smokey cuddles when you can catch him sitting still. And to think Christmas is just 2 weeks away. Hope you see your daughters then.

  2. It's too funny that Randall lets Poppy know when a deer is close by. What a dear bunny he is, and I love Smokey, too. Blessings for a wonderful Christmas, Henny!

  3. I love that Randall and Poppy are keeping each other company out there. So nice to see the deer out there. Hope Poppy got one of them.
Here we are home, home in the snow! It's been snowing for a few days, it's 14 degrees and everything is closed. So, I'm cozy in the house, doing some Christmas baking.

  4. How sweet. I love a good pet post! So did Poppy get a deer for the freezer while sitting there? I wish my husband had when he went hunting but maybe next time. I simply love your little "Home, home in the leaves".

    Grace & Peace,
    Pam

  5. I laughed out loud at Randall alerting Poppy as to when there were deer close by. What a great pair. I'm sorry that you didn't get a companion for him but maybe another bunny will show up. He's so cute. And so is Smokie, but I missed seeing Eli and Ellie. :-)
    Merry Christmas my friend!
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  6. Sorry you missed out on getting that grey and white female bunny. Apple pieces/peel are a big favourite with my bunny too. Miss Kitty went AWOL for 24 hours and had us worried. Today she wandered back very nonchalantly as if to say Can't a girl go visiting without worrying the family? GM

  9. Not long now....! Nice to see everything coming together,
Smokey and Randall look all geared up for Christmas, but,
l think you should try and get a friend for Randall in the new
year, bunny rabbits don't like being on there own...He'd love
to share his apple peels with a friend...Bless! :O).

  14. Randall and Smokey are both cute as can be. I miss my kit cat so much. It's almost been two years now and I can't being myself to get another cat. Losing them is so painful. On a brighter note, I hope you have a happy Christmas holiday. This year seems happier to me than the last few. I am thankful for that, even if it took me awhile to get in the mood.

  15. Randall reminds me of Bailey, a rabbit we had. The girls would let her out in the yard and if some noise or something scared her. She would run to them and get in one of their laps. They would be sitting on the ground...not in a chair.

  16. Henny, thanks for the Randall/Smokey post! They are both such good looking critters! I laughed at the expression on Smokey's face. I think he was rolling his eyes... and I'm wondering, does Randall let you pet or cuddle him?
