The little Parsley plant

Last March when I started a few seeds in the teeny tiny greenhouse, I put a parsley seed in a bit of potting soil. It sprouted and grew to about the size of a toothpick.

After the garden was planted, not wanting to leave the tiny little parsley plant to die, I dug a hole at the end of a row and planted it there, then forgot about it.

Cleaning up the garden lately this big green healthy plant growing under the edge of a  bunch of zinias caught my eye. Could that be Parsley! Is that the tiny spindly litte sprout I stuck in the garden and forgot.

It's Parsley alright. So big and pretty! The weatherman was calling for a hard freeze Friday night. With a shovel I scooped up the whole plant, roots and all and put it in a big bucket, watered it good and put it in the greenhouse.

The little greenhouse is not heated except for a heat lamp, the kind used for baby chicks, with a red 250w bulb. Anyhow, it worked. That was two days ago and the parsley is still pretty. I've dried five trays of parsley in the dehydrator...enough to fill one spice jar. Yay!

Oh my gosh! The leaves, the leaves, the leaves...here they had just begun to fall...

Hard to tell where the driveway ends and the path begins...it's that time of the year!!

and there have been some really pretty colors around the pond this fall...

I love the gold in this big old hickory nut tree that grows just outside Rosie's lot...Sorry I have no picture of Rosie. She is so fat! Rosie tries to eat every leaf that falls in her pasture,  and so far has done a pretty good job of keeping up.  :)

I apologize for all the pictures. I've taken so many and just need to share them with folks I love. Thank you for looking. :) Oh, and I have a few "hello" pictures from the animals, plus a little Randall Rabbit video...

another one of the pond with miss ducky...

Isn't it hard to believe that our Eli is ten years old!  He loves being out in the sun these cool days. Sunshine makes his sweet face even sweeter...

and of course our baby Ellie. Ellie is doing well on her medications. She goes in once a month for bloodwork...so far,  so good...

and now here's Randall Rabbit. What a big sweet bunny this boy has become...

Have I mentioned that I want another bunny?? Well, I do. Not just for me, but for Randall. There are some for sell in Wake Forest for only $20.00...not as big as Randall but are considered large rabbits. The problem is finding a way to get her spayed. My gosh! Why is it so expensive!

I've heard there are places that will help with the expense of spaying and neutering pets, so I am checking around. I have a Christmas craft show coming up November 18th. Hopefully, it will be a good one. Haven't mentioned all this to Poppy yet. So don't tell anybody. :)

and now the Randall Rabbit video... (especially for you Rian) Hope I remember how to load one...

Not the best post I've ever done. Thank you friends for stopping by. Our computer is dying...of course, it's about time for a new one. The screen is jumping up and down as I try to type. It's like trying to type while riding on a four-wheeler! :)

Love, Henny

  1. I absolutely loved your post today, Henny! Your photos are fantastic, and I'm really impressed by that parsley plant. Impressive!
Yes, leaves are falling here, too, faster than we can clear them; that's what "fall" means!
    Blessings!

  3. Hi Henny! Love the pics... especially of the animals... but the parsley is pretty too. Wish Texas and North Carolina were closer as my daughter would give you all the bunnies you want. She still has a stall full... Randall Rabbit is so cute. But as far as I know, she only has gotten one golden bunny, the others are white, black, black and white, and grey. And yes, she has been looking into spaying too.

  4. Such fun, fun photos. Loved all the fur babies. Randall Rabbit is so fluffy and cuddly looking, and I adore Eli and Ellie. I just want to give them both huge hugs. That parsley is something else all right. You could supply us all with parsley for the winter from one plant! :-) All of our leaves are long gone. We even had a skiff of snow last Sunday, although it's 63F today. I much prefer today. Take care dear Henny. I love your posts.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  11. Your Parsley did amazingly well. I've never tried drying any. I grow it for my bunny who loves it, almost as much as she loves cilantro. Your Randall is so fluffy looking and so big. I wonder if he'd like some parsley too ❤ GM

  15. HeHe! All behind again..must be these tight Cargos...! :).
And that must be flat leaf parsley, one of the most used
parsleys and herbs ever...used in all types of cooking....
I use it all the time, it's great and very tasteful...!
Don't think l've seen a plant that big....!

After a few days of strong wind, all the leaves have blown
off my Virginia Creeper, collected most of them, few more
to do...and l also start trimming it back, make it look a bit
more tidy...! I do love my Virginia Creeper..it's 45yrs old
now, and still looking good..back and front..!

Think we've all said that you should get another bunny....
Especially for Randell...be company for him, and another
    bunny to talk to...! Bless!x

  16. That itty bitty bunny has a big appetite, lol. He probably can play with Eli and Ellie. My parsley plants are in pots so I can put them in the dark garage all winter. Not yet thankgoodness. They will turn yellow but still survive. I plant them to get Black Swallowtail Butterfly eggs and caterpillars. Some years I get lots, this past year none. Our trees are 90% bare and we have leaf blowed and raked until we are near dead. I hope the Christmas craft show works out great and Poppy will be proud. Precious sends purrs to handsome Smokey.

  17. I just love coming to visit with you, my friend! I love your pictures...that parsley is amazing! And to think that you didn't really put effort into it other than sticking it in the ground! Our yard looked about like your driveway and path until a couple of days ago when my husband used the leaf blower. He said because there are still so many leaves left on the trees that he isn't going to blow anymore until the majority of them have dropped. Randall is adorable. Thank you for the video.

  18. I love seeing all your critters. Such a joy. And I love your fall photos. It's a bittersweet time of year; the cooler temps and autumn color are welcome, but it signals the upcoming winter.

That's fantastic about your parsley! It gives me hope for my greenhouse.

  29. Great post Henny! Wow at the parsley, it knew you loved it enough to put it in the garden, so it went hog wild! Eli looks beautiful as does Ellie, hard to believe he is 10. Where does time go? Finally, cutest Randall Rabbit! Maybe you will find him a Ruby Rabbit or some such name, he will love that. I think that you could find a clinic for spaying her. I don't think I have heard anything about that around here, but I'm sure that there are ways to get those things done. Beautiful post, fall is so beautiful, but we are in severe drought so it's a problem for sure. Love the post! Terry

  32. Hello Henny! I haven’t posted a comment in some time, but just know I visit and view any new post you have posted. Just love your beautiful array of fall colors with your trees! I live in Ca and the only trees here in our yard with fall colors are our Liquid Ambers🀷🏻‍♀️ The ones with what some call messy pods! Lol All of your animals are so sweet!🧑And love your large pond! Did you dig and build your pond? And are there fish in it? I used to have a pond with beautiful Goldfish, but sadly was talked into getting rid of it😒 I gave my fish to my sweet gardener to live in his pond. But want another one! Love your site so much! And I think I speak for many, please never stop as we really love reading updates about your beautiful life. Lots of love from Darlene from CalifπŸ₯°
