My dearest dearest friends,

I simply can not get over all the nice comments and well wishes you left on my last post. That alone is enough to make anybody feel like a million dollars. Thank you!

Just a quick update and then no more about my ailments. Last Friday the doctor gave me another injection in each shoulder for pain and swelling. In six weeks if the pain is back we'll do a MRI to check for a tear in the rotator cuff of my right shoulder, which is most painful. Physical therapy helped the pinched nerve in my left shoulder and arm.

And, for the last few nights, I have been able to sleep. Sweet sweet sleep!

Eli and Ellie...

wanted to say "thank you" too.  Look a little closer ...

at miss Ellie's silly face. What a silly girl. Pardon Eli's dirty chin. They were in the back yard in the leaves.

We have color down Henny Penny Lane again...

and up at the teeny tiny garden and greenhouse...

We do have pollen, everything has a dusty look Oh, but the ground is dotted with violets...

even the weeds are pretty in early spring...

So very thankful to be feeling better...just can't go crazy and overdo it in the yard and garden, no matter how far behind I am.

All my big major "to do" lists have been put away, out of my sight! I've simply got to learn to do a little at the time.

I will leave you with a picture of Smokey resting in the sun on the steps of Poppy's shop. We could change his name to Dusty...

I do appreciate you all so much.

Love,
Henny

  1. I'm glad you have been able to get some relief as constant pain is just so debilitating. I'm also glad that you know you have to learn to pace yourself, which is not an easy thing to do but oh so essential. Wishing you all the best, Mxx

  4. So glad you could at last get some much needed sleep! Eli and Ellie are so sweet...they have the sweetest faces. I would just love to be able to pet them. Spring is slowly springing here, too.

  5. It's good to know you're more able to sleep these days. It's hard to put away those to-do lists but I guess we have to face the fact that we can't do as much as we used to. It sure is looking like Spring has come to you. Everything's nice and green.

  6. I am glad that you are feeling a little better and hope for more improvement. I am getting a shot in my shoulder in a couple weeks so hope that helps. Good you can sleep now. Eli and Ellie are adorable. I have CFS so can sympathize with you not being able to do as much. Hope we get some lovely blooms like you soon. Nancy

Such good looking pets you have and Smokey looks great in the sun.

  11. Aww, love you Henny! So glad you're feeling a little better after your shots and even sleeping better too. Thank God. Wow your lane and land is looking gorgeous with all kinds of new buds and flowers peeking out! You wouldn't believe it if you looked out my window...huge mounds of snow and ice! I will enjoy looking at your pictures and doing some Spring dreaming! Your Eli and Ellie sure are cuties...just like twins! And love that Smokey/Dusty! Take good care Henny and please don't overdo it!!!

  12. I didn't know that you had a possible torn rotator cuff. It's awful. I was not able to lie down to sleep. Finally I was given a cortisone shot and it lowered the pain to a bareable level. The shoulder is still tender but it's livable.

  13. So glad to hear you are feeling better and getting some REST! Take full advantage of that. It's good that you are planning on taking things slow and squirreling away those "to do" lists. Everything will still be there waiting for you once you are back in good shape. The world won't stop turning if you aren't out there working all day!

    Take care.

  14. I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better and you are able to finally get some sleep! Getting enough sleep has such a positive effect on how we feel. Everything is looking so colorful and beautiful there! I know you are tempted to do all those things that you should not be doing, so please be strong and just don't even think about them. You don't need a setback for sure! Besides, these days many people are going for a "natural look" in their yard which does not require so much work.

I just love that picture of Eli and Ellie! If I didn't know better I would think I was seeing double! They are such fine looking dogs! Now you take care of yourself and enjoy Spring without working for a change! xxx

  16. Eli and Ellie are both hugely beautiful. And I do mean hugely in the best possible way. And of course you know I love seeing Smokey and he has not been present lately. Glad to see he had some lovely sunshine and I am jealous of even your weeds blooming. Let's hope that you continue to find what is causing the trouble in your shoulders and get it taken care of before really good weather gets your way. I know you miss working in the yard very much, so just do it very carefully. Lynn and Precious XX

  17. Hi Henny- Sounds as though you shoulders are getting better with some medical help- nothing worse than trying to sleep with an aching shoulder. Your yard look so lovely and green with all the Violets- my Mum's favorite flower was the wild Violets- I use to put them in pots for the Green House. Best Wishes. KEV.

  18. Good Morning Henny. I sure hope your shoulders continue to do well and the pain doesn't come back. I've been praying for pain relief for you.
Eli and Ellie are the sweetest things. You have to get a little dirty when you're having fun don't you? They look so happy and content.
Wishing you a wonderful Thursday my friend.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  19. Sweet HP :) You are so wise to just put those job lists away in a drawer and WAIT until you are healed. The work will always be there! And the people who matter (the dogs and cats, haha) don't care a bit if the weeds are pulled or the dust is swept! Eli and Ellie are just adorable!! Love their faces.

  20. It's hard to make yourself realize that we can't do as much as we used to. I was fighting that battle out in the yard again today.

  21. You and I are in the same boat. I have had inflammatory issues that started late last Fall and have not been able to do anything. The kids have always called me The Energizer Bunny so this is driving me crazy. I am on some meds that seem to be helping but will take another few weeks to kick in. If you are like me, you probably feel guilty for not being able to do what you are used to doing.

    Prayers for you!!! xo Diana

  22. Is that a forsythia I spy at the bottom of one of those photos? They are in glorious bloom here. Richard thinks Gertie Groundhog was eating violets in the front yard, but I'm not sure. Hope your shoulder continues to improve. It would be lovely if you did not have to have surgical repair of your shoulder but "needs must..." if it comes to that.

  33. To~day is Thursday! Maundy Thursday..!

In the Catholic Church, the ritual washing
of feet is now associated with the Mass of
the Lord's Supper, which celebrates in a
special way the Last Supper of Jesus, before
which he washed the feet of his twelve apostles...

The foot-washing ceremony takes place on the
Thursday before Easter in Christian tradition,
and is meant to re-create Jesus Christ's washing
the feet of the 12 disciples, highlighting his
    humility and love for all...

    And to think...
Peter said, “You shall never wash my feet.”
And..Jesus answered, “If I do not wash you,
you have no part in me.” Amen!

    2. Yes! And in certain churches, not so
      often now~a~days though..
At weddings..Bride and Groom wash each others
feet in a bowl with a sponge and dry them off
      with a towel...
The reason some Christian couples decide to do
this is because it is a symbol of being humble
and willing to serve one another since that is
what Jesus did for his disciples...!
But! As l said..not that often now..!

  34. Just to let you know you are still on my prayer list. I hope all turns out well and that your shoulder will be better soon. Your sweet dogs together look like a set of salt and pepper shakers! So sweet! How lovely your whole area is turning out with spring growth! Wishing you a happy Easter weekend!

  37. So happy to hear you are feeling a bit better. Physical therapy is no fun but if it helps, and it has helped me, it’s so worth it. Those two dogs are so beautifully white and sweet, looking out the window. And I do think spring has sprung on Henny Penny Lane! Sending love and happy thoughts. Xo
