Anybody wanna go play in the rain; maybe splash around in some big puddles? We've got just the place.
I carried the camera out with me to feed the animals this morning...
Here we go, down the steps with the bucket of feed...
and on down the path for hay that is stored in an old chest type freezer with no lid...
I ducked under the shelter and laid the umbrella across the mower then filled a bucket with hay...
Got the goats and chickens fed then walked around to the other side of the house for a look...
That's all the rich soil I hauled from behind the chicken lot. Thankfully, the newly placed bricks are holding back black mud.
Seems kinda foolish to fill the birdbath anymore.
Cedar trees hold lots of water...
Going on around passed the back porch, the pond is full and rushing over the spillway into the woods...way back there in that far corner...
Looks like those brick columns supporting the house are bracing, trying hard to keep the house from washing right down the hill and into the pond
meanwhile, on this end of the pond, the muddy water from off the side road pours steadily in...
why, straight down this hill under the muddy water are the stepping stones we use to cross over.
newly made streams rush through the woods from off the side road.
bringing in more and more muddy water...
and covering what's left of the teeny tiny pier...
So there, we've been all around the house. Thank you for walking with Weetie and me. It just feels good to show someone.
Hurry Weetie, let's go get a dry towel.
We really do need a few sunny days now, just like you folks up north who are covered in snow.
All this was early this morning. We've waited all day for a break in the rain for Eli's long walk, but there has not been one. Now we are going anyway. We'll bundle up and carry the umbrella and slosh up and down the muddy road.
Sorry for such a gloomy post. The weatherman says "tomorrow afternoon", look forward to tomorrow afternoon! The rain should end for a few days. Whew!
Dumperoo says "Hey" from a dry spot under the sewing table.

I admire your tenacity to take all those photos whilst the heavens are bucketing down. Gosh, that is a lot of rain. Hopefully, the sun comes out soon and dries up all that water. The photo of your lovely home with the light shining through the window made me smile. It looks cosy and warm in there.

You have so much water you could almost make the lake bigger. I can see why you would get tired of rain. It's great to see Weetie too! I had fun seeing it all Henny and now I'm going to get a towel!
ReplyDeleteWhen we get a lot of rain here, there is a small small floating pier that always ends up under water anyway. Then a few days after the water goes down, it reappears again.

ReplyDeleteMy grand daughter (the 6 year old one) would love to walk through those rain puddles with you. I think splashing through puddles is one of her very favorite things to do! Hope there really is no chance of your house really washing down the hill! And it looks like Dumperoo has found a good dry spot!

ReplyDeleteWow...those are quite the pictures and dialogue to go along with them. So sorry about your soggy yard....you don't want to hear about your snow piled high and no place to put any more of it...even though we're supposed to get 8 to 18 inches more of the white stuff tonight and tomorrow! Quite a winter everywhere you look....hopefully Spring will come one of these days....you'll get it long before we do! Hang in there!

looks just like Wales, we get plenty of rain here but it does make for a green country. I have my full length Dryzabone coat, wellies and waterproof gloves and both dogs have coats for walks. They do not care about rain and puddles and as long as I am wrapped up neither do I. Add in some sideways wind screaming down the valley and we have horizontal rain. That has to be endured rather than enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteWow, you are surrounded! We have had some very high tides and the four rivers of Georgetown are all full, but our house is high and dry. (High in this case means 12 feet above sea level.) You may be needing a kayak to tend your animals!

ReplyDeleteHere we were besieged by howling winds all last night keeping me awake thinking (worrying) about that huge pine tree in front of the bedroom window! It continues this morning with little snowflakes coming down amid the gusts of wind. The forecast says that these will end in about an hour but who knows-------there was nothing about snow last night when I checked the weather forecast!
Take care-----of yourselves and the animals too.
All in moderation, that's what these photos are reminding me of. I love all the seasons and every kind of weather has its beauty and purpose--- but never in excess! I would be feeling quite desperate seeing so much wet and the problem is it keeps rising. Actually, we'll be seeing those growing puddles very soon with all the snow that needs to melt around here. Well, at least spring is on its way.

ReplyDeleteYou sure did get drenched. It could be worse; it could have turned to ice. The weather over most of the country is just crazy lately. When I see weather maps on the news I realize how fortunate we are to not have the blizzards and floods that seem to be everywhere. We had wind gusts of 67 mph overnight and it's still howling out there, but we haven't lost power and it's not frigid. I hope you don't get these high winds. I worry about trees with shallow roots and high winds - not a good mix. Be safe. I hope the mud left behind doesn't make too much work for you. Spring isn't far away and daylight savings time starts in just 2 weeks. Have you planned your garden yet?

We've had lots of rain, too, but nothing compared to yours. Today we have had extremely high winds...up to 75MPH at times. Thank you for the tour...and I do pray that soon the sun will shine there. xx

ReplyDeleteMy goodness Henny you certainly had a lot of rain...thankful your house is above all that water. Whew it has been a year already of challenging weather. We just came through 50 mile per hour gusts of wind for about 24 hours. Glad to see that weather gone. Hope you are receiving some sunshine today. Hugs!

Maybe another time I should stop in on my trip to mama's house and visit you for a minute.
