Guinea sweetness

Dear friends,

Oh, I really did want to reply to each one of your comments on my last post...and here I've been away from home all day again. Replies  now might be too late...but I sure enjoyed each one. Thank you!

You know, there is a heat lamp in the baby guinea's pen to keep them warm. So, just before dark, when I close the chicken house door, I look in on the babies too. What a surprise I got last night...

They were not snuggled in the hay under the lamp, but had climbed the ladder up to the roost.

had to go to the other side of the pen to get the two babies facing this way.

Not much of a post, and the shortest one ever. Mostly wanted to say how much I enjoyed your comments.

Love,
Henny

  1. Aren't they adorable!! And such big girls and boys, to sit up on their roost :) It's good they've already figured that out. I love peeking in on my chickens when they're roosting too :)

    1. Thank you. We love guineas too. I think there are lots of folks who don't like them because of the noise they make.

  9. Cute photos. Our hens are starting to sleep next to each other as it gets colder here too. I have to get a heat lamp out there, but it's never turned on until it's in the negatives.

    1. Thank you Kristina. It's not really cold here yet, but since these were used to being under a heat lamp, I was afraid they would be cold. Oh gosh, the negatives sounds cold! :)

  12. Well, guess they were warm enough. :-)

Maybe they'll move back to lamp, when it gets colder.

  13. My vote for your best photos of the year will definitely be these! Last year when our local Farmers' Coop had baby guineas for sale, I so wanted to take some home.

  14. What a line up.

Yes, mam, they're all lined up and ready for you identify the perpetrator. No, don't worry, they can't see you on this side of the glass. Yes, mam, I know you're nervous, but just take you time and look carefully. We need a positive ID and we hope you can help us.

Oh wait, maybe I've watched too many reruns of Law and Order. They are real sweeties-----no felons in your guinea pen.

  15. Henny, I have had a rotten day and these sweet photos just made my day! They are so sweet, just all bonding together. Thank you for the gift and are there white guineas in that bunch? We only had gray guineas, they are so smart, they know how to bond together! What a sweet picture! Terry

    1. Hey Terry. Well, I'm glad these little guineas brightened your day. They make me smile too. Four of them are white, and in the first picture, the baby on the far left, I think is going to be chocolate. Thank you Terry.

  25. OH MAMA! This is the sweetest thing ever! You are so good with your animals, and you are THE BEST mama in the world! I can remember you teaching me to iron. To sew. To color. To cut out paperdolls. To be kind to animals. To fear God. You are the best and I would not want ANY other mother than you! ~your troublesome child who always wanted to sit in your lap
