A boring bit about the Fair

Might as well go ahead and say it, "I did not ride the hobby horses at the state fair"!

Shelby and I walked and walked. We ate fair food.  We talked and laughed. We visited all our favorite places, like the village of yesteryear. Why, we must have walked past the merry-go-round a dozen times.

The best excuse I can offer for not getting on the merry-go-round is being worn out at the end of the day. There were two empty seats here...

so we decided to sit and listen to the bluegrass music for a while.  Sometimes you don't realize how tired you are until you sit down. The music was good. We sat there probably 45 minutes. It was late afternoon, so we decided to start on that long walk back to the car, instead of around the fair grounds again.

Shelby checked her Fit Bit and friends, we had walked nine miles. Nine miles!!

Had to get a picture of this tall lovely lady passing by.

Tuesday was the fair. Wednesday we packed. Thursday morning at 5:00 we left for Missouri...but will post about that later. I've bored you enough for today.

Hope you haven't totally given up on me. I've got lots of catching up to do. Aren't the days busy! This morning the car has to be taken in to be serviced and inspected. Yesterday, it was a trip to Henderson for Poppy...always something! :)

Love,
Henny

Neither did we ride this newest, tallest Ferris wheel! Next year, I am riding the hobby horses...right after we eat the plate of fried dough with powdered sugar!

  2. That was indeed a long walk, nine miles is not a stroll in the park. Shame you didn't get to ride the hobby horse, there is always next year.

  3. Haha, you say that every year!! Looks like you had a very enjoyable, albeit tiring day. Fun to do something like that every once in a while.

  5. Fair food is the best! Probably not the healthiest but hey, it's one day a year. Walking 9 miles is nothing to sneeze at! No wonder you were tired. Can't wait to hear of the rest of your adventures.

  7. That's a lot of walking - and talking! Now you have something to look forward to for next year, when you MIGHT ride those merry-go-round horses!
Sounds like you've been gallivantin' all over the place.

  8. Aaww! You shouldn't feel one bit badly that you didn't ride on the Merry-go-Round. You and Shelby had a good time together and that's what counts.

  9. Glad to hear that you got back from your trip without any difficulties along the way.

The fair sounds like a fun day for you and Shelby. Wow! Nine miles----that would compensate for a lot of that fattening fair food----hope you got your fair share.

The carousel is the only thing that I will ride at the fair. Once several years back my son and I went up on a ferris wheel and that was a most unsettling experience----never to be repeated! All that swinging back and forth and up so high!

  10. That ferris wheel does look tall. I hate being up tall so slow like, and it's cold up there even in summer.

  11. Nine miles. That's quite a hike around the fair. Worked off some of that fair food. : )
There's always next year to ride that merry go round.

  14. That looks like a very fun way to spend the day. I am a big blue grass fan and that tall lady's dress was spectacular. She must have been walking on stilts, how hard would that be :) Thank you so much for your get well wishes; I truly appreciate them.

  18. I'm glad you had a fun day with your sister. Nine miles!!!! I hope you had good shoes so your feet didn't hurt. It makes a huge difference if the ground is more or less level - or not. I used to love to go to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. It's like an old time Ozarks settlement with shops, craftsmen, rides and LOTS of entertainment. The music is country, gospel and bluegrass and they have several theaters, indoor and open air so there are shows all over the place all day. However, that place is built in the Ozark mountains and in places it's really steep. It's built in the hills and 'hollers'. Your 'boring' post isn't boring at all. It brings back good memories for me.

  19. Lol... Henny, what fun times you and Shelby have together !
Walking nine miles I would have been calling a gurney to carry me to the car, but all good walking eh !
