Around the teeny tiny farm

Penny eating Kale...

Did I tell you that she was already named Penny when we picked her up? Nadine, who sold us the bunny, said her son had been calling her Penny. It's a perfect name for her, don't you think?

We have a little guinea family...the mom, the dad, and one baby...

Late in the day on Sunday, I noticed the baby having trouble flying up in the tall cedar tree so I brought out the old bent up ladder...
It's amazing how the baby knew exactly what to do...

Wasn't long before she was right up there next to her mom.

Haven't spent much time up at the little playhouse under the long legged tower lately...
and I still have the two old windows to hang up there...somewhere?

Seems like my energy and excitement over gardening fizzled out in early July. I've promised myself, if the Lord is willing, that things will be different next summer.

I want flowers, lots of flowers, growing along with the vegetables in the garden. So, I've got about seven month to dream, and plan, and work on improving the soil in the teeny tiny garden. I did get most of the garden cleaned up yesterday except for that big Basil plant and the row of okra.

The beauty berry turned out pretty in spite of the dry weather...

and pretty wild flowers are blooming around the pond...

I don't know what the pink flowers are, but the little vine with white flowers is a Hemp vine and it grows all along the water's edge. I'm wondering if it could be rooted in pots, it is such a pretty little vine.

and look who was waiting for me.

Thank you for visiting. Hope to be back soon.

Love,
Henny

  3. What a beautiful little haven you live in! I could be very happy all that to look at all day long. Your beauty berry is AMAZING! I found out what it was a couple of winters ago when I saw the dried berries in my son's backyard. The berries are mesmerizing, even when they are all dried up...maybe even more so. Thanks for sharing you little farm with us!

  4. Yes, already thinking about next summer's garden, too. The shade here is spreading wider and longer. Add that to the short growing season of Massachusetts, and I think I'm going to have to give up on vegetables.

  5. Penny is a precious name. Bless you for assisting the quinea. I once had a beauty berry bush and yours is so nice - the berries remind me of the pop beads I made necklaces with when I was a kid!

  6. Amazing the little chick knew what to do. She looks so sweet with her parents. Seems pretty soon you will have a large bunny farm if you keep collecting them.

  11. Isn't it funny how we always think of how we'll do things NEXT year. I am trying to jot down some of my "great" ideas so I will actually do them next year and not forget.
Penny is so cute she makes me want to get my own bunny.

  12. Hi! Penny looks so sweet. Would make me want to pick her up and cuddle her. I think when it gets so hot it is hard to continue to be enthused about gardening! I love to dream and plan all winter too. I say I am an armchair gardener! Nancy

  16. Penny is just a doll. She looks so soft and cuddly.

I think lots of gardeners poop out around about the middle of July or early August. Just too hot to do much of anything out side and usually dryness is taking a toll on the plants. It's onward and upward toward some fall changes and a list a yard long of possible plans for next year some of which might actually become reality.

The beauty berry bush is just gorgeous. I love the shiny metallic color. I planted one in a neglected corner of the yard a few weeks ago. I'm hoping for a mild winter so that it gets a good start and comes through in good shape.
