On the last leg of our late afternoon walk around the pond, then up past the garden, and down the road past the house...
and past the teeny tiny goat barn, where we turn around and come back home.
Look! I've found a container, a big container, to hold potting soil up at the new potting bench...
Oops! without the kitty cat, of course. It's an old granite ware tub, part of an old wringer washer. My daughter Andee and her friend Dawn found it in an old barn that was being torn down and thought of me.
For now I've set a bucket of soil inside the tub. It will take a lot of potting soil to fill this tub, plus I need to find something to use for a cover...don't want rain turning it into a black muddy mess.
See the vine in the dark green pot on the bench with the clay pots? You know, I was looking for a vine that would grow in the shade and lo and behold found the Creeping Charlie vine that had taken root in one of my potted plants...how's that for luck?
Looks like I am not the only one having fun up at the teeny tiny garden with the new potting bench.
Can you see me now?
It was mighty boring around here before sweet Smokey arrived. No matter what I'm working on in the yard, he stays right with me, playing hide and seek and jumping out to scare me. He follows me around like a dog.
That's about it for the news on Henny Penny Lane today...but wait, finally, a half way decent picture of Rosie goat...
Hope to be back soon...
Love,
Henny
It is obvious that she is obsessed with food.
ReplyDeleteLove the 'new' tub, I would love some rustic pots for my garden. Rosie is very sweet, what a cute picture xx
ReplyDeleteYour house is just so charming! And all your critters must keep you always entertained!! It's a great way to live, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find, the enamel tub is just perfect for potting soil. You are really making it into a really charming area. Rosie is adorable.
ReplyDeleteMy oh my, how DO you keep that pink wheelbarrow looking so shiny and new! :)
ReplyDeleteYour place looks so nice, comfortable and homey. I'm surprised that you let Rosie get near your neck and ears ---- with her appetite she just might start nibbling on you.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a cat that would follow me around like Smokey follows you. Very companionable. I miss him a lot when I'm out working in the yard. And another cat that would let me pick him up and carry him around in my arms with him looking out over my shoulder---- just like a little kid. Now we are down to two good for nothing sisters who are very standoffish but will occasionally sit on our laps or give us vigorous back rubs with their kneading.
Lots of things going on there! Smokey is right in the middle of it too! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThe tub is perfect for potting soil! I don't think I've ever seen green granite ware. It's really neat.
ReplyDeleteRosie is precious. I enjoy the tours of your property.
ReplyDeleteAw! Cute animals! I love cats that are full of personality! Everything looks lovely in your neck of the woods, Henny!
ReplyDeleteLove looking around your farm. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteSmokey is a good supervisor! Looks just like one of my cats. Rosie is a doll, too. Oh, you live in such a pretty place. Have a nice evening!
ReplyDeleteIt's surprising the number of things that can be put to good use like the old washing machine tub your daughter found.
ReplyDeleteyou have to wonder what would happen if some animals never ran out of food in their grasp
ReplyDeleteYour place is looking so good!
ReplyDeleteRosie makes me think of my Lab, Bracken. He's obsessed with food too and we've had to stop giving him any treats at all between his 2 meals a day. Slowly he's getting the message. Before all he could think of is whether we were by any chance carrying a treat for him and he got so in-your-face. Not a nice trait. So... no more treats for him.
I love the wash tub! That is a great idea for potting soil. I really want a green house and a cat and a dog. Love you bunches!
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing how your house sits in regard to the road. and love the little wishing well. Rosie is getting to be a big girl too. Life goes on...
ReplyDeleteOh, my that Rosie is still darling and love Smokey too. What a wonderful find in that big tub! Your place is so nice. Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh, Smokey, you are not only mischievous but adorable, too. I'd say you're 'adorkable'. Love the granite tub, Henny.
ReplyDeleteSmokey and Rosie - so nice to be loved by such sweeties.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you always have lots of good company!
ReplyDeleteHa! First thing I thought of after admiring the wash tub was getting a cover for it. I bet you find somethings my appropriate just waiting for your eye to see. I have some pots going now with a couple of tomatoes and some herbs. Just have a few places to keep them where they get drip system water. Always feel anxious when we leVe and it gets hot. Your place looks like it is very fertile and well loved.
