Would you like a peek out my kitchen window...
Poppy is not crazy about kitty cats walking on cars, so you did good Smokey, choosing the old Corolla instead of Poppy's big shiny truck.
He watches me while I stand at the kitchen sink washing dishes. I say this old sweetie pie can do just anything he wants.
These two watch too. Probably trying to figure me out as I am always waving to them from the window.
Mother's Day was nice. Nobody was here except Poppy and me, so we drove to Henderson and ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Pecan pancakes! I had pecan pancakes! I never pass up an opportunity to eat pecan pancakes at Cracker Barrel. Oh my...with warm maple syrup and bacon on the side. Then believe it or not, we ordered pizza for supper. I mean, seriously, pecan pancakes and pizza in the same day!
Thinking I would eat, drink, and be merry then go on a diet (again) Monday morning...and what arrives in the mail but a sweet card from Andee, Todd, and Madison with a gift card to Dairy Queen tucked inside...one that will buy several "Blizzards"!
Cracker Barrel is full of stuff.
I could have looked all day, but we had to make it back to Mr. Murphy's farm before noon to buy a bale of hay...
I love this farm! And let me show you one more time...Mr. Murphy's pet bull...
He was pretty shy and didn't want to come out at first.
but a little hay did the trick. I've posted this before but thought you would not mind seeing the bashful bull again.
Thanks, if you are still here. :)
Love,
Henny
I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years - there are none nearby us here, too bad! Love the view out your kitchen window - there's lots to see, for sure! I saw my first hummingbird of the season this morning - it was great to hear that familiar buzz as I was planting in the veggie garden!
ReplyDeleteWe all need a Cracker Barrel close by! I love the humming birds too. :)
DeleteOh, I love Cracker Barrel. We have one here and go occasionally. I almost always get the beans and greens with cornbread. Pinto beans are just about my favorite vegetable (legume?). But the pecan pancakes do sound good so I might just try them the next time we go.
ReplyDeleteAt least it looks fairly dry in your patch today. We actually had a little bit of sun this morning and so I went out to transplant some seedlings that came up in the herb garden. I figured that if I dug holes where I want them to go and then dug out the transplants with about the same amount of dirt around them that they would make the transition without knowing that it had even happened. In addition I wouldn't have to try to dig up and loosen the soil where they were to go since it's so soggy and has a good bit of clay as well-----digging and loosening is just not an option. I did get the hole dug but then it started to rain so I hung up my shovel and came inside. Rats! I've got a bunch of plants from the swap on Saturday as well as some annuals that I got out at the greenhouse last week and something that I ordered is en route even as we speak. Who knows when I will be able to deal with any of them!
All but one of my visits to Cracker Barrel have been for breakfast and I always get pecan pancakes. I bet they do cook good pinto beans and greens. Poppy and I will have to go there for supper one night. I hate to want to work in the garden and it's too wet. It has dried a little here but we are supposed to get storms today and again on Friday.
DeleteSweet Smokey, he loves his life....
ReplyDeleteThe Cracker Barrel was founded by two locals in our hometown, we have been customers there since the early seventies. I can honestly say, we have never had bad food there, and the service is always consistently good. I love their gift shops.
Sounds like you had a sweet Mother's Day...literally :)
THAT is one BIG bull !
~Jo
I did not know that about Cracker Barrel. I've always wondered where they find all the many antiques. Their service is amazing...even in Henderson. There are not many places in Henderson we like. Hope you had a good Mother's Day.
DeleteThat looks like a two or three day place to visit, and with deep pockets and short arms. The bull is a handsome chappie.
ReplyDeleteThat's the truth, Pam. I've never had enough time or money to stay in Cracker Barrel as long as I would love to.
DeleteHi Penny what a lovely view you have while washing those dishes :) x
ReplyDeleteThank you! It helps! :)
DeleteLove Cracker Barrel and I could spend a day there too! Love your kitty too watching as you work. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melanie! You too!
DeleteYour grey kitty is so sweet! I really must go the Cracker Barrel someday. It's on the way to our son's house up in Ft. Collins.
ReplyDeleteYum! Dairy Queen! Take care, sweet Henny!
Thank you! You would love Cracker Barrel. I really need all these sweets!
DeleteI like cracker barrel, their little store is always neat to look at even if I never really get anything
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to look, but I rarely buy anything. There is too much to choose from!
DeleteWow, that is a bull! Pecan pancakes from Cracker Barrel sounds wonderful. I don't think we even have Cracker Barrel in Oregon. Sure loved eating there when we were in Texas. Love your kitty and the goats.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. That is a huge bull and not as sweet and shy as he appears. :)
DeleteOf course we are still here. ^_^
ReplyDeleteWe went to Cracker Barrel Monday. I always enjoy going there.
A shy bull is definitely different!
Love looking out your kitchen window. Thank you!
Oh, glad you got to go to Cracker Barrel too! I don't think that bull is as shy as he looks. That was such a good shot of him. A lucky shot!
DeleteYou don't think of a bull as being shy, what pretty (can you say that about a bull?) markings he has.
ReplyDeleteNo you don't and I don't think he is really shy. I would be scared to go in the pasture with him!
DeleteI have never had Pecan Pancakes...just plain or blueberry! :) Sounds like you had a great day! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, pecan pancakes are the best! I've never tried blueberry...too busy eating the more fattening ones.
DeleteThat Cracker Barrel looks like a fascinating place! Well worth a visit. We don't have them, too bad. We had pecan pie on Mothers Day. Not homemade, since David was in charge of dessert, but a nice treat and a nice change.
ReplyDeleteOh, pecan pie sounds delicious! Pecans are good in just about everything!
DeleteGetting to go to Cracker Barrel is a treat no matter what you order! I love ours but we don't go very often because of the crowds! Smokey is a beautiful cat and I would let him do whatever he wanted...within reason! LoL
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace
That's true! Gosh, the place was packed Sunday morning and we got there early!
DeleteThat Smokey is smart. He knows to avoid Poppy's truck. Must not make kitty cat pawprints all over it. My parking spot is under the utility wires and birds are forever pooping on my car. Kind of yucky.
ReplyDeleteCracker Barrel sounds like a combination of restaurant, gift shop, and antique store.
Yes, we all know to be careful around Poppy's truck. I get the paw prints and the bird poop since there is a big willow oak near my parking spot. :)
DeleteI guess Cracker Barrel is only in the States; not in Canada. I could spend some time there, for sure. Oh that Smokey. I just love that face. If Audrey looked at him she would think she was looking in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteRemember how I wished and hoped for Smokey to look like Audrey? I think it was meant for Smokey to wander up here because of how I fell in love with your Audrey. But for sure, there is still only one Audrey! :)
DeleteThat is funny how your kitty watches you while you do dishes! Bashful or not I would not want to be around that bull! Cracker Barrel is a fun place to look and sounds like you had a wonderful Mother's Day! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI agree Nancy. I would be scared to death of that bull!
DeleteThanks for the mini tour from your window, and the Cracker Barrel morning. We have some places called Cracker Barrel, but I don't remember going to one. Have to check it out for pecan pancakes. How do you say "pecan" in your part of the country? I learned to say pecan, like pecon, but others say pekan. That bull looks so curious peeking out at you from his barn. I'm glad he wound up as a pet!
ReplyDeleteHey Pam! Yes, I say pecon, but lots of folks around here say pekan...and drag it out. :) Hope you get to try the pecan pancakes at Cracker Barrel sometime.
DeleteThanks for the fix of country life. It's in my blood, and sometimes I miss it, just a little bit.
ReplyDeleteHey Linda! You're welcome! :)
DeleteYay for Cracker Barrel! I will definitely try those pecan pancakes sometime. I also bought a top in there yesterday (hmmm, over my budget but I had a gift card to pay for most!). Love the critters in this post.. sooo cute! Oh my... Blizzards <3 !!!
ReplyDeleteOh I saw several tops in Cracker Barrel that I wanted, but didn't get! I love the longer tops and there were several. Thank you. Yes, the darn Blizzards! I'll gain another pound!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI love Cracker Barrel, we do not have one all that close to us. We have to drive 4 hours South ;-)
We do love it when we are able to stop at one when traveling. My boys love shopping the candy section. ;-)
I love the bull photo!
Carla
Thank you Carla! Their candy section is amazing, like going back in time. I like it too.
DeleteI love pecan pancakes, but have never had them at Cracker Barrel. Have you had their chicken and dumplings? YUM! There's no other place like their store. They have so much unusual stuff. I used to go there after Christmas and buy ornaments. They're always half price and gorgeous. That bull has pretty markings. My kitchen is on the front of the house, facing the street which is the main one into our neighborhood. So I see a lot of cars and maybe people walking dogs, but certainly nothing as good as what your view is.
ReplyDeletePeg, only once have I been in a Cracker Barrel for a meal other than breakfast and we had chicken and dumplings. It was really good. Like homemade! I've never thought of going in after Christmas. That would be fun. I LOVE after Christmas sales! I love watching out the window, and people watching is the best!
Deletelove those pictures of the bull and all of your animals to! I wish Jimmy was tame! I need to write in my blog but I just can not get the words going. I love you and hope you had a wonderful mothers day!
ReplyDeleteHey Vicki! You know, that bull, I don't think, is really tame and shy. I just happened to get a cute picture of him. No telling what he was thinking, peeping around that corner! Hope you had a good Mother's Day!
DeleteWe always visit the Cracker Barrel when we are in America, I love all the vintage artefact on display around the restaurant and the gift shop is always a delight. You are blessed with a stunning view from your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThank you. That's so good that you visit Cracker Barrel when you are in the USA.
DeleteOh, that photo of the bull peeking around the corner made me laugh . . . adorable photo :) I've never been to a Cracker Barrel, it looks like a very interesting store. I could send hours there.
ReplyDeleteI was sure lucky to get that shot of the bull. I don't think he is really shy and sweet. He just looks that way! :)
DeleteLooking out of your kitchen window is just a joy with those adorable little eyes of those sweet critters gazing back at you! Now you've gone and made me hungry for some of them those pecan pancakes. I don't think I have every had the pleasure because normally I order the blueberry ones...OMYum! I think you may have talked me into getting the pecan variety the next time! And isn't it the Old Country Store just chock full of so many great things? I love going to Cracker Barrel too. So glad you had a great Mother's Day :)
ReplyDeletePardon my typos :)
ReplyDeleteJust getting caught up with your posts while I've been gone from blogging this past week. Always a pleasure to stop by and see what is happening with you. : ) A Cracker Barrel has just opened up in the town we go shopping. It was so crowded when we passed it that we decided to check it out another time. I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteA happy day to you my friend. : )
