Sitting at the sewing machine in my teeny tiny sewing room it hit me! Today is Halloween!!
Seeing as how it has been a month since my last post, if I hurry, I can wish you a happy Halloween. We have no trick or treaters way out here in the country, but here's a couple of cuties thay came in a text...
Miss curly top, Violet. Not sure who she is dressed as but I do know it's a character from Toy Story...
Bet she can hardly wait to collect a bucket of candy.
Halloween used to be such fun in the little town of Robbins where I grew up. There was music and dancing in the streets in downtown. I remember once there was a cake walk and when the music stopped, there I was! In the right spot! The most bashful kid in town. A lady came over and put the big chocolate cake in my hands, Somehow, I managed to get the cake to mama. :)
Would you look at this lovely witch...
What a spooky back yard she and Jason have! Easy to see however, that my daughter Lynn is a good witch on her way to work...
Anyhow, aren't the leaves simply beautiful!! And we were told by folks on local TV stations the colors would not be as pretty this Fall because of the drought. We need rain terribly bad. Our little pond needs water.
Here's a picture. Look how far above the water the little old pier sits. Poppy and I built that pier and built it too low. Sometimes, it is under the water.
We do see a few beautiful spots along the path as we walk Ellie every morning...
and down the power line...
You all know that Poppy calls himself a big deer hunter. Well look at this picture he took from his hiding spot near Randall Rabbit's home...
Lucky bunch of deer we have around here. Poppy came home empty handed. I love it!!
Not much of a post. Mostly wanted to say hello and happy Halloween...and I am still blogging!!
Love, Henny

Hi there! It's good to see you. I love your daughters woods, with the mist- perfect spot for a photo.
ReplyDeleteOur grandaughter came over today with almost the same outfit as your great grand - so cute!
Happy Halloween! Violet is very cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable little cowgirl. :). Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteHenny, I was beginning to worry about you. Didn't want you to give up blogging as I look forward to your posts. And I laughed when I saw Violet. She is adorable... and the funny thing is that my daughter's office all dressed up as Toy Story characters and my grown daughter was the same character as your Curly Top. But the little ones win out with the cuteness! Love all your pics! Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear from you again. Violet is adorable; I love her curls. That close-up of Lynn reminds me of pictures of you mother that you've shown in the past. And I can remember pictures of your pond when the water was up to or over the dock. Has it ever gone dry? Is it spring-fed? The weather all over the country has been crazy. It seems that it's either drought, floods or fires.
ReplyDeleteYou live in such a beautiful area! We live on 5 acres too in rural Georgia. I think that is amazing that you were able to have so many animals and really make use of the land. I was hoping to accomplish similar things myself , when we moved here 20 years ago, but then I suffered a major injury to my thoracic spine, so I was am unable to do many of the things I had originally planned. But even so t has still been so wonderful to have the space and enjoy the natural world around us. Our leaves are not yet so bright. They will not reach their peak for a couple of weeks yet. I was attracted to your blog because of the name Henny Penny as that was my favorite story growing up! My mom probably read it to me every night. I am a new follower and just started writing in my blog again this month and I am enjoying it very much. I have loved looking at many of your older posts. Hope you have a nice weekend ahead! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view of your pond and that tree is so pretty!! Violet looks so cute! Hope she gets lots of 🍬 🍬 candy! merry trick or treat to you! Debbi at debbis front porch, not anonymous ha ha 😂
