A short visit

Does this look like the middle of February?

The trees are budding, daffodils are blooming, and look at this flowering quince...

The days are beautiful, but I'm scared to death winter will return and kill everything.

I fought the wind and raked leaves again today. Would you look at the size of this leaf that blew in and made itself at home...

Sometimes I think the leaves are watching me, trying to drive me crazy, or maybe they already have, driven me crazy. This big one keeps following me around. :(

lurking behind the flowers...revenge of the giant oak leaf.

Walmart had these teeny tiny pet beds for $5.47, so I brought one home for Weetie's little spot on the couch.

but look who else likes the bed.

Did you see all the scratches on the leather couch? Eli does that. The whole big couch needs going over with a rich leather conditioner. I just may start on that project tomorrow.

Here it is bedtime folks. Where do the days go? I will be around to visit and catch up. Thank you, if you're still here...

Oh, I've almost finished the doll dress...

To me, it looks a little big. Maybe I need to press the dress better and I still need to put snaps on the sleeves. Anyhow, at least she has a dress.

Love,
Henny

  1. She sure has beautiful hair! Your yard looks so lovely, Henny. I suspect the leaves in the trees are hoping for a good wind storm so they can see your lovely flowers close up. LOL.

  2. You are busy sewing, raking, always something to do, isn't there!!!

Amazing that your Daffodils are blooming!!! Oh how I hope Winter doesn't make another comeback.

  3. How lovely your doll looks in her new dress! My favorite patterns are the ones with a ruffle along the hemline. And, yes, I agree, it's an almost sure thing that we'll see some more winter weather...probably about the time we are all out planting our gardens.

  6. Looks like you need to get one more of those pet beds! They both look so comfy. Your daffodils are beautiful! I keep hoping for a really early Spring. ;). That dress is lovely - you have the best dressed dolls!

  7. Your blog is the first I've seen with daffodils blooming . . . how fast you went from winter to spring. Your yard looks wonderful. I have felt that way about leaves before, too. It seems like every time I rake the wind comes up and before I know it am back to square one, LOL. Your little dolls dress is lovely. I hope you have a pleasant weekend with lots of time to enjoy your pretty weather.

  8. As snug as a bug in a rug, Weetie and the kitty! The doll is cute with her green outfit, all set for St. Patrick's day;-) I am envious, a bit of your Spring flowers. I think Spring will be late here, but we have had a few very Spring like days. Today was just lovely!

  9. Our quince has buds too. Oh, I hope everything does not get zapped with a return to winter temps! My childhood home had a LOT of oak trees and boy, do I remember raking leaves! Our skies have been so blue and beautiful the last couple of days. Hope you enjoy your Saturday. The doll and dress are gorgeous!

  10. The doll dress is lovely, I can not remember the last time that I dressed a doll. Weetie will have to watch that he gets to use his bed, it looks like he could be evicted.

  11. Spring is certainly in the air with those beautiful daffodils, I am hoping it is here to stay. Loved the dress, such a pretty colour.

  12. It certainly seems like spring here in Florida as well. I hope all your pretty flowers don't get a cold snap. The doll's dress is so pretty. I like that green color. The new pet bed is certainly being enjoyed by more than just one pet!

  13. If we ever saw blooms in Feb. it WOULD be a disaster. We have five more week before spring and that's if we're lucky. Saying that, I certainly love to see flowers. The birds are singing their heads off this morning as it is well above freezing and sunny. :)Your doll is so pretty with her new dress. And look at that bed-snatcher. =^..^=

  14. Thank you Henny for sharing all your beautiful photos! To see daffodils blooming in the middle of February is incredible.
Weetie and Dumperoo are just adorable. Love the doll too.

  15. Oh I would be so worried, about winter coming back. -sigh- But of course, nothing to be done about it.

But then, you are in the South, I think. Or are you? Mmmm, not sure. Anyway, the south gets spring much sooner that we, up north.

My advice... about the big leaf, which keep "following" you.... put a stake in it!... next time it shows up!.... It might be a Vampire Leaf! >,-))))))))

Sweet dress. And you said it looks a bit large, so I see it that way. lol. But it is lovely.

  16. When my dog was still alive everytime I get her a new petbed she would refuse to sleep on it for hours. But the next day she was passed out on it

  17. I remember last year we had a late snow in March, and everything that was already in bloom suffered.
    Your daffodils are gorgeous :)
My husband bought Tom-Tilly a new Sherpa cat bed, and she refused to sleep inside it, but would lay on the floor right next to it, he ended up returning it and giving her the old bed back....lol
Rain here today, it wasn't forecast, but tomorrow they are calling for 74 degrees of sunshine...balmy.
Have a great weekend Henny !
    Hugs,
    ~Jo

  18. The dress is adorable! I'm not looking for this to be a very pretty spring simply because of how warm it is here in February. We are bound to have more cold weather...and freeze everything.

  19. Beautiful doll dress! I am always afraid when the flowers come too early too as we usually get more bad weather. It is nice here now but will probably get more chilly weather. Nancy

  22. Your flowers are amazing. I hope they will be okay if any winter weather returns. Your animals looks so comfy. I love your doll outfit. I have sewn that same outfit a time or two myself. I actually used lace on the apron part. I found your blog from EMZ-Piney Post. Will enjoy seeing more of your sewing for dolls.
