Update...

Update on a thing or two...

Piper the duck has started hanging around the pond. She quacks and walks to meet me when I go out but does not follow me back to the house. I suppose that's a good thing, but I miss it. All that water is just too tempting. The lonely muscovy needed a friend. I'm happy they have each other...

And the cherry tomato looking mushroom...this is how it looks today. Still inside the little cup...

Also, the little bantam couple, Festus and Lucille, have adjusted to their new home and seem to be happy. I am wondering more and more about that feed I bought for Sweet Pea, Popeye, and Olive. It just seems odd that all three died shortly after starting them on it. I called the company that makes the feed. They are interested and asked me to send them a bag full to be tested.

The sun was pretty early this morning...

Thank you for stopping by. Hope to be back soon.

Love,
Henny Penny

  3. We have some fog here this morning too, heavier than yours. It can offer some interesting photo ops though:) So glad that the two ducks have become buddies. I hope you follow up on the chicken feed issue, it would be good to know.

  4. Isn't it interesting how animals recognize another one of their species? They've never seen themselves in a mirror, so how do they know the other guy is the same??? Nice your ducks have made friends. No fun to be the only duck in the pond.

  5. The tomato mushroom is no longer looking EVIL but has turned downright beautiful!

  6. I did some checking on your unusual mushroom. I believe it's the American version of Caesar's Amanita (Caesar's mushroom), the A jacksonii. The Caesar's Amanita is edible and was such a delicacy the it was a favorite of Roman emperors. That's how it got its name.

    1. Peg, thank you! That is so interesting! I had planned to look for something about this mushroom but have had company the last three days! Can you imaging having the nerve to be the first to try eating this weird looking mushroom?

  9. It's sweet that the ducks have become friends, life is always easier with someone to watch your back.
Your mushroom is exquisite, it's a pity you couldn't dry it out and save it's beauty.
