Color from the garden

Computers, computers, computers!!! I could use another lesson but Lynn has so much going on in her life right now.

Shelby has tried several times to follow my blog but the system won't let her. She has tried leaving comments, but can't. The comments won't publish. Then there is my cousin Pat...same thing. Her comments never come through. I've had others tell me they cannot leave comments on my blog.  If anybody out there has any suggestions I would be most appreciative.  :)

Poppy went to the garden this evening while supper was cooking. He came back with the most colorful pot of vegetables...

That big tomato in the pot weighs one and a half pounds. It's been a long time since the teeny tiny garden grew vegetables this pretty...

First time ever growing orange bell pepper. My favorite...

I was awakened in the middle of the night last night by Eli hassling. Panting heavily, his hot breath hitting me right in the face. Go lay down Eli I said quietly. Eli walked away but was back in a few minutes. I quietly slid over to the middle of the king size bed and patted the bed for Eli to get in. He got his front half up on the bed but I had to help him get his other forty pound half up. He was so pleased. He lay there quiet as a mouse but he did reach over, take my arm in his mouth and pulled my arm over him. It was the sweetest thing. Something must have frightened him. Poppy didn't know until this morning that Eli had slept with us...

Better start getting the animals all situated. Here it is almost 10:00. Thank you for visiting.

Love,
Henny

  1. Eli's whiteness amazes me every time!
Aww, that's a cute story. He must take up an awful lot of room on that bed though:)

    1. PS. I am mightily impressed by your garden! That is one colourful bowl of goodness! Some stores sell okra, but I don't think anyone grows it here. I was interested in one of your other posts to see what the plant looks like, as I have never seen it before.

    2. Hey Karen! Thank you. I don't know how Eli stays so white. Dirt seems to brush right off. Those big feet do hold dirt though! I meant to take a picture of the okra bloom. It is actually a pretty plant. I hat to cut okra, it makes my arms sting like crazy.

    1. This is the first year I've seen orange bell pepper plants for sale. Now that I've grown a few I don't know what to do with them. :)

  3. Dear Henny: I have been away from the computer trying to look for a job. I am just tickled to see your new bantam couple.
Festus looks like the character he is named for. I sure miss this but I have to find work. I am going to get down there to see you when that happens. Your garden produce is beautiful! It sure is a blessing isn't it? Take care, have a great day. I miss you, XO Terry

  4. Everyone should be able to leave comments. I see you have an anonymous comment so your settings are okay. They have to select a profile ...one of many and anonymous is the last choice.
Your bowl of veggies is sure pretty! :)

    1. Thank you for the help. So it must be something with my sister or her computer. She says she does not know a lot about computers...like me. :)

  5. Hi Henny: What a charming blog you have. I popped over from Jo's blog and spent some time getting to know you. Your love for family and your animals shines through. So nice. I would love to find all that harvest in our garden. Our tomatoes just aren't doing well this year. Love your story about Eli. What a sweetie. Deb (Ontario, Canada)

    1. Hey Deb! Thank you so much. I'm always surprised that someone would follow my blog. I can put some pretty boring posts out there. This has been a good summer here for gardening here. We usually have a hot dry July which which ruins everything.

  7. Eli is a sweet heart.

Your garden vegetables look better than any I have seen in the store. Nothing tastes better.

Thanks for coming by. Hubby may have been after me for something...maybe a thrown pecan or something...but I would never do something like that, not me.

  8. So are you going to do something wonderful with all those vegetables?

Sweet is indeed the word for Eli. Any story about him always brings a smile to my face.

  9. I'm cooking and eating, canning and freezing, and most of all enjoying showing off the pretty vegetables. :) My garden rarely produces like this. It's the nice weather and right amount of rain this summer. I am sharing some with neighbors.

  10. My sister-in-law has told me that she is unable to post a comment from her IPad. She attempted when I was there, and when she hit publish the comment just disappeared. We made more than one try at it. Could that be it? and why I wonder.....

    1. It surely could be! She uses an IPad. Thank you.

  11. Blogspot works best with Google chrome. I don't know if that applies to comments too.
    What beautiful crops!

  12. Your veggies are a riot of color, and delicious, of course. Aw, Eli! You are the sweetest thing. I don't think he will fit in the bed with you both for long.
