It was 7:59 when I pulled into the parking lot at the doctor's office this morning. Nah, I'm not sick, at least not to my knowledge, it was just to get blood work done before my yearly physical. Nothing like getting this stuff done and over with early in the morning. Besides, that first cup of coffee had to wait until after my blood was drawn...that will get you in a hurry! Can you drink cold coffee? I fixed my big mug of coffee as usual this morning and carried it with me. Even cold and about two hours old, it was still downright good...
Leaving the doctor's office I swung by the, combination, "seed store and license plate agency" to hang more bonnets and aprons. Sorry I've never taken a picture of that place to show you. Just about everybody in the county goes in there and while standing in line they can't help but see the aprons and bonnets hanging on a rod above the front window. Occasionally, Jimmy, the store's manager, comes in Food Lion where Poppy works and hands Poppy a little wad of money to bring home to me. Yep, spending money. My spending money, and that's exactly what I do with that money.
Finishing up at the seed store I did a little grocery shopping, then came home to begin the day's work...still sipping on that cold coffee. Couldn't help but think about Mama. She used to sip on her cold coffee all morning. Mama enjoyed dipping her toast or biscuit in the coffee, and so do I.
Yesterday morning, at least I think it was yesterday, when Eli and I were out early, this was the sky we saw. I came running back inside for the camera. Poppy said, you have enough pictures of the sky on your blog. But seriously, this one was breathtaking. The colors change so quickly and had already gone from a fire red to orange and it was still mostly dark outside...
And one more thing. Look who enjoyed the new pine straw...curled up in the warm sun under a thorny rose bush...
and stretching out, curling those sweet little back feet...
Okay, I simply must get busy. We've had rain this morning but now looks like the sun may come out. It's very very windy! In fact, the weatherman predicted gusts up to 45 mph. Hope the roots on these tall trees around the cabin can hang on in this wet ground.
Thank you. Hope to be back soon.
Love,
Henny
Only hot coffee hits the spot for me!
ReplyDeleteLove the trees against the sky (and Smokey!)

I do love that first cup hot but after doing without, even the cold was good! :)
DeleteYou need to take some of that "spending money" and invest in a good insulated travel mug. Of course, you don't mind cold coffee, so maybe you don't need one of those. If I have to leave home in the morning before my coffee, it goes into the travel mug and at least stays warm until I can get to it. Once, several years ago, my nephew gave me one of the insulated mugs that actually plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet in the car. I really keeps the coffee hot. I've taken coffee with me when we left at the crack of dawn, napped in the car, and had hot coffee when I woke up. I don't like the coffee at the fancy coffee shops I've tried; give me home-brewed coffee any time. I also don't like paying those exorbitant prices they charge. Even if I did like the taste of that coffee, the cost of it would take away my enjoyment.
ReplyDeleteWe had those high wind gusts last night after dark. Sometimes if sounded as if everything would blow away. Every time I heard an especially loud gust, I'd look over at the thermometer that shows what the outside temperature is. It dropped a little every time a new strong wind blew through.
Hot coffee is definitely better. I've never had a mug that would keep coffee hot. I really do need to buy a good one. Especially since I'm thinking about selling at the farmers market again. I like home-brewed coffee best too. Oh, the wind was awful here too. I really did worry about a tree falling on the house. It's calm today, but cold! Too cold to work outside!
Deletegot a kick out of the combo seed store and license plates. Perfect place for your aprons.
ReplyDeleteThat is a funny combo. It is the perfect place!
DeleteIt was 8 below zero when I left the house this morning, with my coffee in an insulated travel cup. It was barely warm by the time I got to my daughter's 35 minutes away. I drink it anyway, but it is nicer hot. My grandma always called it "mad money". Everyone needs some of that!
ReplyDeleteI am freezing this morning and it was 25 here. I cannot imagine going out and it 8 below zero! I am going to take some of my "mad money", like your grandma called it, and buy myself a good insulated coffee mug, as suggested by Peg! :)
DeleteLooks like you have had a great morning. I like cold coffee drinks but I don't like cold coffee weird huh. I do love my morning coffee though. I also love a cup of hot chocolate. Smokey looks so cute laying in the sun. Hope you have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteLove you!
I love hot chocolate too! I have never had one of those cold coffee drinks like those at McDonald's. Lynn loves them. I keep thinking I will try one. Love you!
DeleteAmazing sunrise! Thank you for posting it. Hope the winds are not too fierce!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pam. The wind was terrible! Glad it has calmed down today.
DeleteI can't abide cold coffee - probably what turned me into a tea drinker. Now that I can drink cold.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Smokey had white touches of white.
Smokey really does not have any white. It must have been the glare of the sun, or my picture taking. :)
DeleteCold coffee defeats the purpose for me. I drink it for the hotness, not the caffeine.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some photos of your town, like the feed store/license dealership. Where you live is such a contrast to my lifestyle.
I will do that. A post on our town and some pictures. Thank you Linda.
DeleteI'm a hot beverage lover, no half warm drinks, otherwise they are zapped in the microwave :)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine your beautiful apron and bonnets displayed in the seed store, perfect environment.
Love that little Smokey, only he's growing so fast I should have to stop saying 'little'.
~Jo
Hot coffee really is much better. Little Smokey is growing up too fast, but they all do, don't they. :)
DeleteWell at least you got that blood work out of the way! I bet the Feed Store License Plate place does some good business for you...way to go..pin money..or my one Aunt called it rug money cause she bought rugs:)
ReplyDeleteThat's the truth! I hate the blood work because of not being able to eat or drink anything after 8:00 the night before.
DeleteHi Henny,
ReplyDeleteWhat was Poppy thinking? Truly, one cannot have too many photos of beautiful sky on their blog! Men do say the silliest things sometimes, don't they! lol
Oh that Smokey, he is the cutest little guy!
Hope the exam goes well!
Love,
Lily
Thank you, Lily. Men really do say the silliest things! :) Every time I see the sky look that beautiful I get excited...it's like seeing it for the first time. Love, Henny
DeleteI am not a fan of cold coffee, but can drink cold tea. The sky photo is stunning a real delight.
ReplyDeleteI like cold tea too. Thank you!
DeleteGolly, you are a busy lady. I don’t come alive until after breakfast. Cold coffee? Brrrr.
ReplyDeleteI am such an early morning person. I love getting up before the sun comes up. :)
DeleteThat's a neat way to make a few extra dollars for spending money. I can relate to your cold coffee because I drink cold Dr Pepper and caffeine is caffeine, right? LOL I try to become a coffee drinker about once every three or four years..but I just can't do it. Maybe it is the warm part, but more likely it is the nasty taste! I'm sure both are bad for us...everything always is.
ReplyDeleteThat's right! Got to be the caffeine! I do enjoy my coffee every morning. Thanks terri.
DeleteHey Mama! I love to sip on cold coffee. Tell Poppy that you can post as many sky pictures as you want!
ReplyDeleteLove you!
Your girl...
I know you like cold coffee. It runs in the family. :) I will tell Poppy just that. I love you!
