The pond

Comparing photos again. The pond. A foggy April morning early last spring...

The pond today, after lots of rain and more snow than usual this winter. Muddy water comes rushing down the side road and into the pond...

It's only been a few days since we hung the new duck box and every morning since there has been a pair of Wood Ducks on the pond. The female disappears so hopefully, she is inside the box deciding whether or not it would make a nice home.

My heart goes out to our one muscovy duck. She hangs out with the chickens now. I need to find her another duck...and soon.

Thank you for looking in.

Love,
Henny Penny

  6. Hello Henny,
I just got a chance to catch up with your last several posts. I hope you continue to do all the busy things that have made your days so rewarding, and do not have any problems with your back. Maybe you will be mindful of the heaviest lifting, and be sure not to twist at the same time! Your bonnets are so lovely, and I have one of them by our door at our beach house. That puppy is the cutest thing ever, and I know he will be a big help keeping your other animals safe. Plus he is just adorable. When spring comes, and you get to planting again, he will be right there digging!

    1. Thank you Pam. I will remember that about lifting. I am still so undecided about taking the medications?? The chickens are already driving me crazy scratching in every flower bed...I had not thought about the puppy digging!!! Thanks for reminding me! :)

  7. Hey Henny! Your new camera must have came and the pictures are lovely! I love your blog because it is always so peaceful and reminds of the gracious homeplaces of my grandmothers! Though, I think the cutest picture you had was the puppy and the bull looking round the corner of the building. You will be busy busy soon! Take care of your back, I hurt my tummy this week lifting, so it will heal probably but lifting heavy sacks of food and soil, you might ought to be careful! It's funny isn't it, how we go along and then the doctor says you have this or that and we are suddenly stuck with something we didn't know about. Let us know when you get your ducky a new friend, I miss my farm animals, that is for sure! XO Terry

  8. The new camera did finally get here! Aren't those puppies cute!!! That picture of the bull was one of the best ones ever. That was luck. He looked like a big coward in that picture! Hope you will come down this way this year and Lynn and I can meet you. Sorry you hurt yourself. It's easy to do. I felt like I could do anything until the doctor told me what bad shape I am in! :)

  9. I have one sheep left, she hangs out with the chickens too:) I think as long as they have some company, they are okay, but probably not as good as having one of their own kind.
