A little bit of farm stuff

Here I am with all the symptoms of spring fever and hear that we could get three quarters of an inch of sleet today! And, if that's not enough, the temperature dropping into the teens tonight!!! Wow!

Remember the visits last week from Shelby and Jimmy with their trailer to haul firewood? Have I mentioned their farm is "Shelly Mac Farm"? Well, back at the farm with the wood split and stacked, this is the end result...Jimmy says all but a small portion came from our place...

Their wood heating system. I love this cute little building. Looks more like a playhouse...

I was out at 6:30 this morning feeding animals and adding hay to the chicken house. Nothing for the hens to do in bad weather but gather around the door and watch the sleet and snow fall...and occasionally peck another hen on the head. Soft hay to make them comfortable...

Again I left the feed bucket on the door steps and Weetie took it upon herself to stand guard. She is a sweety-pie. She takes this job very seriously...

The goats were playing on the pine logs and then saw me with the camera...

Okay, just a little pretend farm update. Wishing a nice sunny day to you all. Thanks!

Love,
Henny Penny

  3. Hey Henny, I am not looking forward to the ice and sleet either. Right now we are only getting rain the temperature is just starting to drop here it is still 48 degrees. I am looking forward to spring though. We went and bought us some grape vines to plant. Love the pictures.

    Love you, Vicki

  4. We do have sunshine today which is wonderful after yesterday when it sleeted/snowed all day long. Not heavy but enough to put down about an inch of sleet/ice. Will this winter never end?

It's good to see that the goats are making us of all your labor in moving those logs to an area where they could play.

That is a huge amount of firewood. It's hard to believe that it all came from your place. I can imagine how glad you were to have it all hauled out of your way.

  5. We had that same wood stove The Classic by Central Boiler made in Minnesota!!! We used ours for 12 years and just recently went to a high efficiency LP Furnace. Wheatie does a good job:)

    1. That's neat! Made in Minnesota! I'll have to tell Shelby. We wish that we had gone with wood heat when we build here, but we are too old to start that now! I think about all the wood we have given away. We have enjoyed the fireplace over the years.

    1. She is the little guard dog! She thinks that bucket belongs to her and me, and the chickens are not touching it!
