Craft Bazaar done

Somewhere, tucked away in there, is a little house...
and when the sun comes up in the mornings and shines through the oak trees, a bright orange glow comes through the living room windows...

lifting my spirits

Raking leaves in the front yard for two hours this morning, hardly made a dent, but it sure does count for exercise. It will take several days weeks months of raking to get rid of all these leaves.

The lastest craft show...
the one my neighbor Ann asked me go to and share a table...
That's my little display to the right. Needless to say, there was very little room. I did make a few sales. Actually, sold all my sun bonnets except for four.

Oh, you've got the see the sweetest little lady who bought a bonnet, and wore it...
She had everybody oohing and aahing and taking her picture to put on Facebook.

I worked really hard last week making three old fashioned dolls, and another cross-back apron, and all were sold.

I love these little aprons and have decided to call them the Henny Penny apron...

I love how the ruffle hangs in the back. This one sold too, and I kinda hated to see it go.

I need to shop for more creamy calico fabric and muslin for ruffles, and make more of these aprons.

Guess that's about it for tonight. Thank you visiting. Hope to be back soon, but for sure, will be around to visit and catch up.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Love,
Henny

  1. You've been busy sewing; Nice that so many of your items sold at the craft fair. The woman wearing the sunbonnet is so cute. If she was modeling it no wonder others wanted to buy one too.
How are all your critters doing? It's been a while since you gave an update.

    1. Thank you. Yes, I think the lady wearing the bonnet did help sell a few. I need to post about the animals. You should see how the baby bunny has grown.

    1. Thank you! After retiring in 1999 I wanted a craft to work on at night, so started making clothespin dolls, then thought about aprons and old fashioned bonnets. All these fit perfectly with living in a log cabin. I didn't know much about sewing, but was determined to learn. It has been lots of fun.

  4. Such a tiny space to showcase your wares, but it sounds like you did well despite that! Congrats! After having lots of room at the farmers market, it just puts me off trying to display my things on a 6' table. Maybe that's the reason I haven't been a vendor at a craft fair for a few years.

    1. Well, that was hardly half the table...more like a foot and a half! I desperately need a an old coat rack with lots of hooks, and plan to have one before the craft shows next year. Thank you Karen.

  6. I absolutely love that apron. If you make more, please let me know. All of my aprons tie in the back, and that one just screams cuteness.

  7. I used my new electric cordless leaf blower for the first time the other day. It's nice, but I didn't quite realize how much of trouble the leaves were giving me.

  11. I know what you mean about those leaves...we have tons and my hubby blows them several times in the fall to get rid of all that fall. We have so many that decide to stay on all winter long! Your sunbonnet is adorable and I LOVE that darling cross-back apron...I would SO buy one! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

    1. Oh Debby, your yard must be just like ours. Most of these oaks will still have leaves in March. It drives me crazy. Will your new home have lots of trees too? Thank you so much; and hope you have a happy Thanksgiving.

  12. Congratulations on your sales! I love your aprons and bonnets! And your dolls are so sweet! Are people buying your dolls to display or for children to play with? I love to see children play with old fashioned, battery free toys. It helps them to use their imagination. I remember how much fun I had just playing with my grandmother's button box. And the basic toys are the best!

    Happy Thanksgiving Henny!

    1. Thank you Bonnie. The little lady who bought the bonnet, also bought a doll for herself. The others who bought a doll were buying for a daughter or granddaughter. When I sold at the farmer's market in Wake Forest, I sold several dolls every weekend. Lots of the children there are home schooled, and read all the Little House books. I think most of the young girls there owned one of my bonnets and a doll. Lots of times they would bring their dolls back to the market for me to see. The dolls cannot be undressed, but their bonnets and aprons come off, so I sold extra sets of bonnets and aprons. Some of the girls owned several dolls and their parents did not mind buying them a new one every weekend...they appreciated (as you said) the old fashioned toys. Oops, didn't mean to make this so long. :)

Reminds me of my grandmother and all the wonderful dinners in her kitchen. I don't remember my grandmother every getting a spot on that apron! Hmm.. Love to see all the crafts too!

  15. Hey Terry, and Happy Thanksgiving!! I really like that style apron too. Would you believe some of my best clothes have grease spots because I can't remember to put on an apron? :)

  16. I can barely see your sweet little house in the woods, but hints of blue assure me it is there, nestled amongst the trees.
We used to spend hours raking up leaves, my back would give out before I was finished, then my husband bought a leaf-raker to pull behind his mower, it makes raking leaves a breeze now !
I so enjoy my beautiful apron you made, and plan to wear it tomorrow :)
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day Henny.
    Hugs,
    ~Jo

  22. I looked at those photos and said out loud, "That is a GREAT apron." It really is. It lays so perfectly on the back. I used to make a few aprons, just for our use. My mother always wore the half aprons -- just a skirt, which I did not like, because I was always spilling on my blouse! So I made long aprons with bibs and long ties around the back. I like to wrap the ties around the back and then actually tie them in front. But yours is so elegant! I love that style. No wonder they are selling so well! Good job!
