The crafting mouse

Dear friends,

It's looking more and more like there will be no pictures of family gatherings or craft bazaars and such that include me.  Strolling around taking pictures is too much like being on stage. I am a mouse. I've always been a mouse. Sneaking around, keeping quiet...never wanting to be clearly seen. Yep, that's me.

I unintentionally frightened a gentleman at the craft bazaar. He was bending down trying to read the labels on Shelby's jam and jellies when he saw my eyes looking back at him. I was sitting behind the table, hidden by the little stair-steps filled with jelly jars.

I did get one sweet picture...

This is Paula, the Pastor's wife. She was very nice and had the sweetest smile. Sorry that my one picture is blurry. She bought the bonnet and matching apron and said she just might wear them to work one day over her scrubs, for her patients. Paula is a Registered Nurse. Bet she is a good one, don't you?

Shelby's jams and jellies were a big hit, and many jars sold. I sold all my small dolls, a couple of aprons and a few bag holder. I left the bazaar happy, so all is well.

None of my little angel garlands (cut from empty chicken feed sacks) sold, but then, most of the time I kept them covered, thinking folks might laugh at them. :( I did give one away.

Hopefully, I am not as awful as I make myself sound. Rarely do I sit at a craft sale. Standing is much better and smiling at folks has always been easy for me. Mostly I just act like an idiot when someone hands me a twenty dollar bill and I have to give them change.

Better get busy this early Monday morning. Eli has an appointment with the groomer...and speaking of the old sweetie-pie.

"I really really want to try that fruit cake too, okay?"

Love,
Henny

  2. Your bonnets are so sweet! I'm glad you were brave enough to show your things at a bazaar because they sure are beautiful. Eli looks like he's very interested in what is on that plate! I hope your week is lovely.

  3. I am thrilled to hear that you did well at the craft fayre, I am not surprised your bonnets and aprons are a delight. Hope Eli was not too traumatised by the grooming. Mickey our standard poodle has just been, he tends to sulk for a couple of hours on his return. Take care.

  4. Dear Sweet Henny Penny, I just wish that you could see yourself as others do . . . You are pretty, big hearted, talented in so many ways and someone that has a love of all God's creatures. You're the kind of person everyone wants for a friend. I wish you lived closer to me, because I know that we would be great friends. I'm happy to hear that you did well at the bazaar. The picture of your pastor's wife may have been blurring, but you captured her wonderful smile.
    Have a lovely week.
    Connie :)

  5. You make me laugh, but I see so much of myself in you! I'm amazed at how neat and tidy your fabric is. Mine can look like that when I first tidy them up, but then if I want to pull a piece out further down the pile, I don't have the patience to make it all tidy again. I do have a big pigeon hole type shelving. I rolled the fabric and put the rolls in the squares of shelving. Then it was relatively easy to pull out the roll I wanted without making a big mess of the rest. Glad you had some fun and success at the craft fair, and it would be so much fun to be doing it with your sister!

  8. Craft sales are a lot of fun at Christmas. I volunteer for the nature center bookstore when they have a booth in the mall. It's hoot.

  9. How nice that you get to do these fun things with your sister. That is very special and I LOVE her kitchen. She really must enjoy baking and preserving. You did really well; that's fantastic. It's a lot of work getting ready for a sale so I'm happy to see you feel good about this one. Btw...I would have bought one of your garlands as I think they are sweet. Can you send me your mailing address as I have a little something for your Christmas tree. :) debsteckly@catlover.com

  11. Connie said it so well. I too wish you lived closer because you are such a warm hearted person. I do wonder how many of us bloggers are on the shy and introverted side and we feel safer making friends on our blogs? Anyway, I'm glad you did the craft sale thing and did okay, even if you did give that man a scare!

  12. Thanks for the update on your sale. Sounds like you did pretty well. I think your angels are really cute....maybe you would have sold some if you hadn't hidden them? Keep up the good blog Henny. It's always a pleasure to see your pictures and hear what's happening in your life!

  16. Mama, I still have my angel garlands! I love them. In fact, I need to get them out for Christmas! You are a sweet little cottage mouse with a perfectly swept floor and well behaved children who sit on the rug and read books while you cook and teach them about manners and being kind. But you are not mousy. You are amazing! You are the best mama ever and you are so smart. I would not trade you for any other mother anywhere. I know that "idiot" feeling in myself when I am scrambling to chat and get change and not make mistakes and still keep communicating with customers. You are a smartie-pants though, and I have seen you in action at the craft shows. People love you! Especially the children. They know a kind mouse when they see one, and they love that!! Love you, mama!!!

  17. Dear HennyPenny, You sound like me, so know you are not alone. I love to read your descriptions of life on your mini farm. There is comfort in small, everyday things that you speak of!

  18. At least you followed through and making things and putting them up for sale. I am not talented enough to create anything that one would spend good money on! Can you place your leftover things with the local shop that sells your aprons for you? It might be easier to have someone else sell them.
