Almost like a zoo here!

It is always a good surprise to see a new follower on my blog. I appreciate you so much!  Thank you!

Poppy didn't get a turkey yet, but he did catch an old sweet kitty cat hiding under the dining room table.

Speaking of kitty cats...

Here's Bickett, our inside cat. He has always been an inside cat. Lately though, anytime the front door is opened he shoots out and heads for the dirt path. He wallows in the dirt and dust and then wants to come back in and curl up on the bed in the sewing room.

Just look! and this is a black cat! I've been wondering about that big reddish looking, dirty, dusty, spot on that blue chenille bedspread.

Yesterday was my appointment with the orthopedic specialist to find out what the MRI showed. One thing was curvature of the spine, which the doctor said I've probably had all my life and did not know it...also three herniated discs which bulge out on the left. That's why my pain is in my lower back and left leg. Tuesday I'm going back for the injection and will probably start physical therapy next week.

Never a dull moment in the living room here with Poppy and Eli...

                                            you wanna play?
                                         let's fight!

I'm ready to haul that chair and foot stool to the landfill! Oh, and throw in that old coffee table and carry it off too.  The wear and tear is awful! Just awful! After wrestling there on the chair and footstool, Eli takes off running around and around the coffee table.

Better get a few things done. Poppy is turkey hunting again and will be in soon for lunch. Hope to be back soon.

Love,
Henny

  1. Glad you found out what it was and how you can make your back better! Dogs are hard on furniture, but other members of the family are too! :)

  2. Hope that your back treatment and therapy make everything good again! It must drive you crazy to be limited, but this is temporary. I think Eli doesn't know how huge he is! That is one big doggy to be racing around any living room. Watch out for the lamps and knick-knacks!

    1. Thank you Pam! Yes, I think we picked out a dog a little too big for our small house. :)

  5. Well, now you know and the healing can begin. Sending good thoughts your way. Look at that Smokey...I think he loves it all. Now that I'm in the country I know all about 'dirt' coming inside. I leave the vacuum cleaner out now unless we have company. lol Deb

  6. I work for a great PT...he'd fix you right up! I do hope that the injection and the therapy will give you relief for your pain! Do you like eating wild turkey? My son shot one years ago on Easter Sunday morning and we cooked for lunch. It was delicious :)

    1. Do you really! I still haven't heard from the physical therapy place yet. I have never been able to cook a wild turkey breast and have it turn out good. He killed one yesterday, so I need to learn soon.

  7. I think that Eli has no idea what a huge guy he is! I'm so glad you found out what was wrong with your back and you will be able to get help through physical therapy. I had one herniated disc and can't imagine the pain of THREE. I started getting relief immediately with the therapy and I hope that will be your experience, too.

    1. I think you're right. Eli thinks he is small like Weetie. It is encouraging to know that your physical therapy helped. I am so ready to get well!

  8. I had to go look up 'herniated disks' and now I know what they are and how much pain you must be in. You do sound like you're getting around a bit better now. Hopefully PT will be a big help. Will you have to drive far to get this therapy?

    1. I didn't know anything about herniated disk either, until now. The physical therapy place is about five miles from our house, so that's good.

  10. At least you now know what is wrong with your back and hopefully you can become pain free again.
I just love Eli. Is he a Great Pyrenees and how much does he weigh?

    1. That's true. Thank you! Eli is a Great Pyrenees. He weighed 135 the last visit to the vets, but I am sure he has gained a lot since then. That was probably five months ago.

  11. Step one: you know what's causing your pain. I hope step two works for you. I'm an advocate of physiotherapy.

  12. Good that you now know what's causing your back pain and you have a plan for fixing it. Hope it works out and you can get back to normal. I was reading somewhere a year or so ago saying that often physical therapy works better than back surgery so it certainly seems that starting with that should be the the first option.

    1. Thank you Vic. Thankfully, the doctor did not mention surgery. I am looking forward to physical therapy and hope they will teach me exercises to do at home. I don't ever want to go through this again.

  13. Your home looks so cozy and welcoming! Nothing like a fluffy dog and a couple of kitties to make it even more so!!

    1. Thank you. The house needs a lot of my attention right now. I've had to let things go lately. It is like living in a hunting lodge most of the time. Hope your back is better.

  14. Hi Henny! I hope the therapy works.
Aw! The pets are full of personality!

  15. Be sure to be an advocate for yourself with your back issue. Injections and physical therapy treat the symptoms and not the problem. If, down the line, surgery is indicated, do not be afraid of it.

    1. Thank you Linda. After going through this much pain, I would actually be willing to have surgery, if nothing else helps.

  16. Eeeww, the herniated disks don't sound good. Hope the injection and the therapy help you out. Given any thought to adding a chiropractor to the mix? Eli is soo big, and I have a hard time picturing him running around the coffee table. We need some real action shots of him, or video of him moving at more than a walk!

    1. PS. Yes, isn't that so frustrating to go to the doctor's office with pain, but the doctor can't make you flinch.

    2. Thank you Karen! It never fails...I always feel better once I get in the doctor's office. well, except for the back pain. :)
