Snowing and a surprise package

Friends, it is snowing here. It really is!

Well, the snow has stopped right this minute but this is how it looked just thirty minutes ago. It's cold and windy too.

And to think that all during Christmas it was hot enough to keep the air conditioner running. Had to. With a ham and a turkey  in the oven and folks in the house and Eli miserable and hassling.  Now, it's looking like Christmas! Supposed to be down to 21 degrees tomorrow morning.

A package with my name on it was delivered to our door a few days before Christmas.

Inside that package was this beautiful teacup and saucer. I've mentioned more than once on my blog that pretty teacups are hard to find here. Isn't this one beautiful? The shape of the cup and the handle...and the flowers. I'm almost afraid to hold it.

Sharon at Rivercrest Cottage was going through some things and found this teacup and saucer and thought about me. How special is that...then had it sent all the way from Texas. Thank you Sharon. Sharon has a great blog.  She is always painting and decorating, or changing things around...and shopping. Sharon finds the neatest things, in the cutest shops! Her home looks beautiful. You can visit her here  www.theothermeissane.blogspot.com  Goodness, this is my first try at adding a link. No telling where I am sending you.

You know, the only thing missing from our Christmas Holiday this year was seeing Lynn and the other four grandchildren. So, yesterday Lynn and I met in Durham and spent the day together. Here's miss sunshine now, with those freckles and blue eyes...

It was so exciting to visit Lynn's shop, "Side Tracked". Oh my! I have lots of pictures, even a picture Lynn took of me. Imagine that! Guess I will save them for a post tomorrow.

Here it is after nine and bedtime already. Time flies! Can you believe that Christmas has come and gone and here we are into 2016!

Thank you for visiting my blog. I do appreciate you all so much!

Love,
Henny

  1. My the snowfall looks thick and heavy. I hope that you won't be snowed in too badly. I don't know who Lynn is but I'm guessing she is your daughter or step-daughter and it's so nice you got to see her. I love your new tea cup. The green colour is so pretty. I believe that is a flower from a Dogwood tree. That is the tree emblem of my province and I have one of those trees in my small patio garden :-)

    1. It snowed and snowed but then stopped and went away. Today is sunny. Lynn is my oldest daughter. I think the flower is a Dogwood too. :)

  2. We had some snow today ( actually during last night) and it sounds like we have about the same cold temps. If my chart is right then 21 degrees is close to minus 6 Celsius. Lately it's been minus 5 in the mornings here and warms up just above zero.
I love your pretty tea cup and I'm so glad you got it. I wonder, is that a Dogwood flower on it?
Lynn sure is cute and I'll bet she looks like her mom. I'm looking forward to seeing the pic she took of you on your day together.

  6. We had snowfall here yesterday, enough to get kids and teachers excited about a possible snow day on the first day back. But alas, it was not to be. Our freezing temps have moderated, the sun has gone away, and we are at 40 and drizzling. Ugh.

  9. Sorry about your weather. After all these years in Massachusetts, I thought I was immune to cold weather, but it was so warm here for so long that today's 8 degrees came as a real shock.
And what a lovely smile on Lynn!

  10. Some folks saw a flurry or two around here too but nothing to speak of. I am ready for some snow! That 80 degree Christmas we had is for the birds...lol! Your tea cup is just gorgeous...what a nice surprise! It seems funny a blog friend mentioning a city that is so close to me since most of us are spread out all over the map. Durham is about 30 minutes from here :)Happy New Year!

  11. Love the teacup! We had lots of rain, a little ice, and a trace of snow, for the holidays! A lots of clouds! I like sunshine so this was not a welcome thing for me but it is winter so I guess we will deal with it! So glad you got to visit with Lynn. Can't wait to see the pics!

    Grace & Peace.

  12. Our weather has been like your's is now. Trying to snow, a dusting on the ground, and now it is cold and raining. Pretty daughter and pretty tea cup! I had to go and check if it was the same as mine, but no. I have started collecting random bits of china with dogwoods on them. The dogwood is British Columbia's provincial flower.

  15. Are those dogwood blossoms on your new teacup? It's so pretty. Those look like big snowflakes and I hoped you enjoyed them while you had them. A warmup is on its way back down here. What a beautiful daughter! Glad you got to see her, even if it wasn't Christmas. Stay warm!

  16. Beautiful teacup! When Kim from "Musings On A Small Life" came to visit us she brought along a teacup for me. I love it! Hope your snow and cold doesn't last. I know we have another 2 1/2 months of it up here!
    Take care.

  17. Henny Penny, so glad you are enjoying the teacup! Was surprised to see it on your post and thank you for the kind comments and all. The other teacup and saucer is on its way to keep that one company. You honor me by displaying the teacup and hope you will like the other too. Thanks for all the inspiration you share on your blog. Always feels like a friend down the road when I visit your blog.
