My Merry Christmas Wish to you

I'm thinking I had better wish you all a merry Christmas right now...just in case! :) so, MERRY CHRISTMAS dear friends!

Andee, Todd, and Madison will be here early tomorrow to spend Christmas with us. I love having them home for Christmas and can hardly wait. When they leave on Saturday, then Poppy's daughter Windy, her husband Brian, and their boys Jacob and Luke will be arriving to stay five days with us. There just may not be another chance to get on the computer, for a while anyway.

and needing a Christmas picture to go with my post, let me show you the new little Polar Bear on the tree.  Rarely do I buy a new ornament, but how could I leave the store without this little bear. Besides being cute, he was marked 70% off. He looks like a little Eli.

Sure, you have already seen our tree a dozen times but Christmas comes but once a year and I love the pretty packages and the Christmas tree and the lights. It will be a whole year before we can do this again!

and you all know how patiently sweet Eli has waited by the tree for Santa, but today he had to move just outside the living room window to the old cast iron bed on the back porch, where the air is cooler.

It may look like Christmas on the inside but I'm about to show you how it looks outside here on our teeny tiny make believe farm...

This was taken about thirty minutes ago. We have had rain, rain, and more rain...and even a couple of tornado warnings in the southeastern part of North Carolina.

and this pretty little pool of water is actually the walkway to our front steps. I had planned to mop the kitchen floor with a little clorox water late this afternoon...should I even bother?
 :(

Wish I could take credit for baking this pretty fruit cake. But no, it came from Costco. Shelby got one for her family and one for us, when she was out shopping. Is there anybody out there, besides Shelby and me,  who still loves fruit cake? I had not baked the first thing, not even one cookie until this morning when I made this pan of fudge.

Gosh, I could have at least put down a red checked cloth or something to make this look food look good. I'm headed back to the kitchen now to make something else. :)

Seriously, I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas. I appreciate your friendship so much! Thank you for looking at my blog.

Love,
Henny

  1. Your tree is so sweet and looks pretty with the packages all done up with bows. Yes, it only comes once a year so enjoy it to the fullest. Love Elli and hope Santa is good to him with a special treat. The stockings are hung here and Audrey hasn't moved far from hers all day. She wants 'EVERYTHING'. Have fun with your guests and enjoy the Christmas celebrations. Thank you for providing such a unique, sincere and lovely blog for us to enjoy all of 2015. I look forward to more in the new year. "Merry Christmas'. hugs, Deb

  2. Yes, a lovely festive tree, with all your pretty packages painstakingly wrapped with care and much love.
We are facing the same weather as you Henny, warm temps and windy, and tonight we are being prepared for tornado activity, so unseasonable for this time of the year.
Sweet Eli he's a handsome boy, I never tire of seeing his picture.
Sending Merry Christmas wishes your way, I know you'll enjoy having your family to share it with you both.
    Hugs,
    ~Jo

  6. All the packages under the tree looks so pretty! I like fruitcake but seems I never buy it. I rarely make fudge either. We are having rain here too. Better than snow I guess for us. Merry Christmas and have a wonderful time with your family! Nancy

  7. Merry Christmas Henny and Hubby! Love all your pictures and pretty Christmas views from your house. Sorry to see all the rain pooling up outside....hope it stops soon and pray for no serious storms by you or by my sister who lives near Charlotte. Up here in Wisconsin we're having our second green Christmas in a row, although I see there may be snow for the week after Christmas. Anyway, just love your tree and pretty presents, and your new Eli ornament, and delicious look fudge. And yes, we love fruitcake....just received ours, made by monks, today in the mail! God's Blessings on you and yours! Thank you for a great always blog!!!

  8. Oh, I love fruitcake. I even make it about every third year. It's called Kentucky Whiskey Cake and has lots of fruit and nuts as well as a good little bit of Jim Beam. It's really good. It makes a whole tube pan full so I split it up into smaller pans and give some as gifts (but only to people who appreciate fruitcake!) and keep a couple of little ones just for me. I'm the only one here who has sense enough to like it.

We are in the middle of a pretty good thunderstorm right now. I think it's just about the first we've had all year. It's pouring down rain and windy. A big gust brought down a good size tree across the street earlier this afternoon and at that point the rain was just about horizontal.

Wow what a wild and wooly night. Good thing I like storms.

Hope you don't get rained out----it does look pretty wet there.

Your tree and decorations look beautiful. Have a merry Christmas and enjoy your company.

  11. Merry Christmas to you, too. I hope you have wonderful visits with your and Poppy's daughters and their families. We're still over 60 degrees here in St. Louis and it's getting dark. We had over an inch of rain today and another 5 inches are predicted for the days after Christmas. That would be over 60 inches of snow if it were cold enough and we really get that much rain. I'll take the rain. Your fudge looks sooo good. My mom used to make fudge every Christmas. She put black walnuts in it. They're plentiful in Missouri and my sister and I had the job of getting those nuts out of the shell. They've got to be the hardest nut to get the good stuff out. What a job. But the fudge and apple cakes they were used in were heavenly. Enjoy you family and have a blessed Christmas.

  13. Merry Christmas, Henny! I love your home sweet home! Eli is SO dang cute, too! Happy fruit cake eating. It DOES look good but every time I tried it when I was a child, I couldn't swallow the citron taste. Maybe I should try again.
    God bless you, friend.

  19. Everything looks so festive and pretty around your house. I love the new polar bear ornament and I really thought it was a miniature Eli until you explained what it was. I happen to like fruitcake although I didn't make any. Yet. Why not AFTER Christmas, right? It's good all year round.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and I want you to know that you are one of my absolute favourite blogger friends.

  23. Merry Christmas! So far I have only baked two sweets, which are almost the same except I flavoured one with brandy and one with coffee. I LOVE fruitcake, and still plan on making one. I looked it up and there are lots of recipes out there which don't use regular flour,(which we aren't using anymore), and I have bought some nice dried fruit to go in it. I too thought the polar bear was an Eli ornament:) A very Merry Christmas to you and your family, including the animals!
