Those Darn Cats!!!!

Dear Friends,

I ran in to town yesterday to pick up a roll of poultry netting.  When I got home the cats were in their usual places, Dumper on the bed asleep and Bickett looking out the front door. But, this is what I found when I walked into the sewing room!!!

And who do you blame??? Both cats looked so innocent!!!

Cousin Pat, are you seeing this???  :)

Love,
Henny Penny

  1. Oh mom!!! Goodness! Yes, cats will be like that. I remember back in the day, with Patch and Oreo and Tabitha -- I never could have plants! Or anything!

    I love you!

    1. I remember your cats too! You know I had one plant inside and Bickett knocked it off the window sill into our new printer!!! No more house plants! Thank you for helping me Lynn.
      I love you,
      Mom

  3. Dear Henny,
Do you remember that commercial from a while back about what the animals in the house do when their owners are gone?
This is proof that some of that does indeed go on!
DH has a chair that the dog runs to when we are not present. While we've never actually seen him in it, his paw prints in the leather (must be a ph thing?) tell the story. You may have to hook the door somehow when you are out of the room.
Life would be so dull without the fur children. : )
    Love,
    Jen

Your baskets are arrayed so prettily!

    1. Dear Jen, I do enjoy your comments! You're right, life would be dull without our animals. It's like they take over when we walk out the door. Can't you just see the cats shaking each paw as they stroll off (the way they do) after all that stuff hit the floor! Do you have large dogs? We miss having a Lab. I want another one. Thank you!

  4. Dear Henny Penny,
We have one dog. He's a Scorgi, which is a cross between a Scottish terrier and a Welsh Corgi. He weighs in around 23 lbs. We got him from a breeder (who breeds Scottish Terriers and Corgis, imagine!) when he was about three. He had been the only dog of his litter, and belonged the their daughter, who needed to rehome him as she headed off to college. My dear Bing Crossbreed had recently died and I wanted another brindled dog that was part terrier. I found him on Puppy Find. When I called they told me that someone had put him on 'hold'. I told her about my Bing and how he meant so much to me, and how he had died. She said she wanted me to have the dog, because that was how her daughter had loved him too. The family all loaded up and we went to meet the dog.
Well, he was a terrier mix, but he had a big 'ole wolfish looking head and big teeth. He seemed much more wired haired than my previous silky little dog (barely 20 lbs. if that) My heart sunk and I felt perhaps I should leave him there. He seemed very hairy. Before we left, my husband said, 'Are you sure you want to leave him?' I looked at the dog, and he cocked his head sideways, as if to say, 'Yeah. What Dad said!'
The rest of course, is history. He is a love. He lays on anyone's lap in the evenings, with his feet in the air, like a cat. He barks each and every time like his life depends on it. He listens actively when I play the piano or flute, as though he is studying for performance himself. He loves to rush over and grab bits of vegetables as they fall from the cutting board, then hurry back to his kennel as if there's threat someone may challenge him on it! He looks like a slightly larger Toto and we call him Reilly. As in 'The Life of..'
That's my dog tale. Get a Lab. Next to Bantham chickens, they are the very best return on your investment! ;)

    Love,
    Jen

    1. Dear Jen,
What a sweet story. It's amazing how you can look into a dogs eyes and feel like you know what they're thinking and feeling. Dogs are very smart. I'm glad he went home with you. A couple of years ago, I kept hearing a small dog barking, like something was wrong. The barking was coming from the woods near by and this went on for 3 days. Poppy and I were working in the garden and this little brown and white dog came creeping up with her tail tucked under. Someone had moved away and left this little dog. She is now our "Weetie". We love her and she sure loves us. I think someone was mean to her though. It scares her if you pick up a stick from the yard, like she was whipped. Good to hear from you...

  5. To my dear Human,
Thank you so much for taking me in. You can't imagine how frightened I was when my people left me. I was all alone and didn't know why they didn't take me.
I decided to try and find them, and instead I found you. Thank you so much for loving me and giving me the home I always wanted. May your kindness be magnified and returned to you in joyous, abundant ways.
    Love,
    Weetie (and Jen ;)
