Been Decorating, such as it is.

Dear friends,

It was the first part of last week, during those  three days of rain that I went to Ace Hardware and finally bought that gallon of paint.

The color is Legionaire Tan. Oh, I've been threatening to paint the bathroom and the little hall for months now.

You may remember this from 2017...Yuk!

Wonder what struck me to turn the bathroom into a barn? I'm thinking maybe it was Matt Dillon, and maybe too much Gunsmoke! But here we are, and I love it!
Anyhow, now my big beautiful Palomino horse has a stall.
and the tan wall has a border...

yep, old barns. I'm pretty much out of style all the time anyway.
Okay, I wanted to show you the opposite wall with the mules but the room is so small I could back up only so far.

And wait, that's not all. The toilet seat!
Poppy yelled for me to come to the computer. Look! he said. Didn't take long for it to arrive. Our finishing touch. :)

I'm thinking there is only a handful of folks who would actually like this barn decor, so don't feel bad.

Anyhow after the bathroom tour I'm sure you could use a breath of fresh air...

See the tiny black dot across the road...
That is Smokey! Good thing we live on a country dirt path where folks drive slow. He is so funny...there's lots to see out there...turtles, little snakes, frogs, bunnies...all cross the road and Smokey doesn't miss a thing.

and the purple clematis.

I've built two wattle fences in the teeny tiny garden. Things are beginning to grow. Can't wait to do a garden post.

Sure will surprise me if you're still here. :)

Love,
Henny

  3. Dear friend I adore your bathroom...the toilet seat made me smile for sure. The border is just perfect. As for Smokey I am thinking that the grass is greener on the other side of the road. Gosh your clematis is flourishing. Mine will not bloom for another month. Well take care. Thank you for allowing me to visit and see your bathroom. Hugs!

  5. Of course we're still here. Your bathroom looks great! I still like those mules. I'm more of a warm tone (tans) person too vs. the cool grey tones that are "in" at the moment. Looking forward to seeing your garden :-)

    1. Thank you Lady Locust. Oh, those cool grey tones look awful with these log walls; simply awful! I love the warm tones too.

  6. Of course, I love the bath! (Remember that one of my favorite songs is Dolly Parton's "Mule Skinner Blues." The tan walls are perfect. I am looking forward to one of your garden posts, which are always a delight.

  7. I like how you decorated your bathroom just the way you like it. That's so much better than trying to follow the trends. The shower curtain made me smile and the toilet seat made me chuckle. What a fun place to visit :).

That chocolate vine is huge, so very pretty hanging over your arbor.
I always enjoy your posts Henny, your farm is so very special.

    1. Thank you Jo. I can picture you being a horse-lover. Aren't horses beautiful. Wish I hadn't grown up being so afraid of horses. I did a post my first year blogging about the horse that ran away with me on it's back, back when I was a teenager. The family sure thought it was funny, but not me. :)

  9. I love your bathroom decor. The wall color is really nice, so soft and warm looking. Perfect with your horse and mules. To each his own I say. Do what you like and don't follow the herd (just a small pun)-----who know where they might be heading. Over the next cliff?

    1. Thank you Vic. That's funny, follow the herd, but so true. I'm not crazy about most of what's in right now anyhow. Bet your yard is gorgeous now. Send pictures any time. :)

I keep looking at that last picture with the wonderful vine-covered arbour. It's so lovely ( and frames the little goat perfectly).

    1. Thank you Granny Marigold, Well, on my last post I had a picture of the black goat, Rosie, standing behind the arbor. Happened to look out and there was Heidi behind the arbor. It made a cute picture.

  12. I love your new bathroom and that horse is sure handsome! All your pictures are just wonderful. The purple clematis is beautiful beyond words! You sure do have a green thumb! Henny, how is your back? Did you get results from the MRI? I hope it can help the doctors to find a better way to help you. You are just too busy of a lady for all that awful back pain! Love you!xx

    1. Thank you Bonnie. I don't know about the green thumb. If you could see all the plants I killed over the years. :) My back is much better. The month of being on Ibuprofen calmed that sciatic nerve pain. I worry every day that the pain will return so I am being very careful. I've got to call today about the results of the MRI. Thank you for asking. Love you!

    1. Oh Willie! Thank you. Glad you like the new bathroom. Glad too that the toilet seat doesn't have to be unlocked before using. :) Would you believe that your idea of hay on the floor excited me...then I thought, you can't put hay on the floor! :( I would love a bale of hay in the bathroom.

Bet your flags are beautiful. I would love to see a picture, and picture too of your hanging baskets. Oh, Smokey said tell you not to worry about the snakes...we saw a tiny green snake in the dirt path that had been killed. Who would do such a thing?

  20. "Style" is for people who don't have their feet planted in the earth and their hearts filled with God! I love your barn bathroom. You can't possibly be the only one who likes such things or they wouldn't be available to buy. I think it's perfectly you, and that's what our homes should be. I love seeing your surroundings, too, and I hope Smokey always comes back home safe and sound. Stay safe and well!!!

    1. Thank you Ruth. I like what you said. Yes, I worry about Smokey. He loves being outside. Thankfully, the path is straight easy to see an animal ahead. We have ducks and guineas and sometimes chickens in the path. The neighbors watch out for them. :)

  21. Your bathroom is just perfect. You have the exact right color of paint to go with the horse and shower curtain. And the toilet seat! Wonderful! So many people have their houses all exactly the same. I've never been like that. I love to see personalities show through.

  22. I'm late looking here, but I love the bathroom paint and wall trim. It pulls the color
of the pictures right together. And the purple clematis is such a vibrant color. Boy, I
don't think Precious even considers going outside in the "real" world. Bet Smokey does see
all matter of live things. Hope your MRI came out OK.

  33. Your bathroom is one of a kind, and really quite cool! I'd say it is the most interesting one I've ever seen, but I have seen one that beats yours even. It was all rubber ducky themed. I couldn't get over it. But your's is a close second. The shower curtain and toilet seat almost look 3-D! I think you did a great job!

  35. I’m so jealous of your clematis! I just can’t get it to grow beyond one season so I never get to see it bloom. Oh well, I’ll enjoy yours! Your bathroom is so cute. I really love the shade of tan of the paint and you found such fun barn-y things to make it complete. I’m sorry I haven’t been here to visit for a while. I won’t go into why, but I’ll say ... life just keeps happenin’!! Tell Smoky to look both ways when crossing. :-)

  41. I love your palomino horse and the mules in harness and the whole effect is charming and expresses what you like. Do you love mules as much as I do? There is a great book which features mules and their personalities, called The Oregon Trail by Rinker Buck. He and his two heroic mules drove 2,000 miles recently with a covered wagon.
