Ducky Lucky, and a special gift

Poppy said early this morning, "the Duck must be waiting for you"...
Oh, she is. She knows there is laying mash for the hens in the bucket, so while I'm getting hay for the goats, she eats the laying mash.

Laying mash is very dry so after eating, she must hurry down to the pond as fast as her little flat feet will carry her, for a drink.

Poppy says all these animals are spoiled and too fat, and it's my fault. :(

We certainly did get the wind and rain as that line of storms rolled through last Thursday. A little over 3 1/2" of rain fell on Thursday, and then terribly high winds blew all day Friday.

I tried to tell Smokey it was too wet and windy to be outside but he said not to worry...
there's a dry spot just under the edge of the house.

Oh, speaking of the wind reminds me...in a comment on my last post, Victoria asked, "what direction is all the treeless space from us"? Not good! It's North! We now really feel that cold north wind.

......................
Isn't it fun to get a surprise package in the mail?? Well, I did get one.

Connie over at  farsideoffifty.blogspot.com was doing some cleaning out...a big sort, I believe she called it, when she came across this cute little apron...

it is simply adorable...

looks old fashioned, doesn't it? It looks simple enough that I might can make a pattern like it. It is so cute! but that's not all...

little scrubby pads that she makes. These things are wonderful! I've had one for a while that Connie made. Poppy is always borrowing it to use on things like the car...because it won't scratch. Now he can keep the old one. :)

and like I told Connie, the little card with the Lady Slipper is a gift in itself...
Connie paints these Lady Slippers and makes her own cards. She is so talented.

Better get up from here and get busy! Started this post yesterday...here it is Monday morning and lots to do.

Thank you for visiting.

Love,
Henny

Thank you so much, Connie.

  3. Such a thoughful gift from Connie. She is a very talented lady and I love seeing her artwork. I make thouse scrubbies too and they work wondefully don't they?
Love your sweet duck and kitty photos. I would love to see the duck running for the pond. Our son's family had a couple of indian runner ducks a few years ago. They were the cutest things. :-)
    Have a lovely day!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  5. I love the picture of Ducky through the screen door. With so much green popping up, it almost looks spring time! :~)

  6. That IS a cute apron! I'm so sorry you are feeling the wind, Henny. I hope you have a wool sweater and wool socks.

  7. Storms are frightening. 3 1/2 in of rain would cause major flooding here. It's very flat here and our subsoil is clay so the water doesn't have anywhere to go.

  8. "Your" fault the critters are spoiled? lol. When ours are good Dan talks about "his" critters. When they misbehave they suddenly become mine! ;)

Apron is very cute. So is your duck.

  9. I just love all your critters and I know they all love you! Connie has a wonderful blog and she is just the sweetest person! That apron is so cute. I'm sure you can make a pattern from it. I love the scrubbies she makes too, so much I need to learn how to make them. They are the handiest and best non-scratching scrubbies around. Connie and her husband are so talented I think they can do about anything.

I hope those storms didn't do any damage around your place. Give all your critters my love and you and Poppy take care!

  10. There is so much green around your house already, Henny - it won't be long until you have daffodils!

  11. Talent recognizes talent, so the gifts you received are beautiful and appropriate
for you! And Precious says thanks for stopping by, as we see Smokey outside.
I take it the duck and the cats are friendly to each other? Or simply know who
should stay out of who's line of sight!

  12. What a sweet little ducky girl, and so smart :)
Smokey knows where he can shelter from the rain, but still play outside !
What a lovely gift that Connie has sent you, so very thoughtful of her.
Spring looks like it is popping up at Henny Penny Lane, so encouraging.
    Hugs,
    ~Jo

  13. That duck knows a good thing when it sees it ( like the pail of laying mash). Do you have more than one duck? I'm not sure I remember you mentioning ducks before.
The apron and scrubbies are neat and so practical. Connie is a lovely person.
Sure looks like spring around your house. All too soon we'll both be out there pulling weeds!

  14. That looks like a clothespin apron!!! What lovely gifts - but you are a lovely person, too!! (The scrubbies are wonderful for glass cook tops, too. And in the bath for dry skin - but not the same one!♥

I'm too old to have outside critters, so I enjoy seeing yours. And I would be absolutely heartsick to lose those trees from your view. I'm sorry that had to happen. May you live many long, happy and healthy years there and get to see what grows up across the road!!

    Lucky duck too.

  16. You're more of a lucky duck than that duck actually is! Miss you Henny Penny.

  23. I love surprise mail. Great gifts to receive too. Have a nice week.

  24. Sweet post, Hennie - our weather here is sopping wet, we may be getting a fish pond in our basement here with all the rain. I love that the little duck is waiting for you so patiently. It would be hard to get used to all the trees gone, but maybe after the spring gets here, it will look a little better. Have a good week, Terry

Ha ha! But this is a good thing!

  26. I think Poppy is wrong in this case! Your animals aren’t spoiled, they are well loved! How nice one of Connie’s aprons and a scrubby made their way south to your house. I have one of her scrubbies I’ve been using for over a year and it still works good-as-new.

  27. What a sweet gift and a nice one too. Love handmade items such as these. I have a few scrubbies like the one you have and they are wonderful to use. I used to have ducks many moons ago and I will say they were loved and spoiled. I love those ducks.

  28. Isn't it great the way pets all have their own personalities and little habits - even the ducks! Love the apron too :)

  29. Hi, HP! That apron is so delightful. I know you can make some like it too :) Daisy Duck is so cute out there, waiting for you. It's okay if the animals are plump. That just means they're well-loved!

  30. Well, you need to put out some water near the mash so Ducky doesn't have to hot foot it down to the pond :o) Falling down on your animal tending duties!

Oooh cold north wind. Not good.
