The silliest kitty cat

Has it really been six days since my last post! Where do the days go!

I promise, this old quilt was not pinned on the clothesline just to make a pretty picture, but it did make a pretty picture, didn't it?

The quilt hangs on the back of a rocking chair in the living room.  Every morning while drinking my first cup of coffee, I sit and think about how dusty that old quilt must be, so this morning I hung it out on the line. I was out feeding the animals and noticed how pretty it looked.

You know how Poppy just can't resist messing with Bickett. I've told him before, you know the old saying, "let sleeping dogs lie", well the same applies to cats.

but no, Poppy can't walk past without scratching B's ears and waking him up.

It is funny. Bickett loves getting this attention from Poppy. He thinks they are big buddies now.

There was so much I wanted to talk about but here it is almost 10:00. Maybe tomorrow. Poppy says, "I don't know why you don't work on your blog in the middle of the day when it's too hot to be outside". I've been terribly busy lately. Terribly busy, even during the heat of the day.

So, ending here, I will try to write a better post tomorrow, in the heat of the day...if I can catch a time when Poppy is not on the computer!

Love,
Henny

  1. The heat has been terrible. Can't wait for Fall to get here. The quilt does look lovely hanging outside and I imagine it must smell really good after being in the sunshine.

  2. The disadvantage of husbands being retired, or partially, is that they 'hog' the computer more ;-) Funny, here Larry and Nelson seem to be good buddies!

  3. We seem to have tumbled from spring straight into autumn, no summer to speak of. I have started to hang a different quilt over the banister every couple of weeks. It keeps them fresh and I get to look at them in rotation.

  4. well howdy-----there you are! I've been looking for you and wondering when you might post again. There is almost no prettier sight than a quilt hanging on a clothesline!! Loving that. I have quilts from both my Grandmas and they are such treasures to me........full of memories. They sewed (one Grandma on the old foot pedal machine)...they quilted beautiful quilts of many colors (sounds like a Dolly Parton song? ha ha LOL)...they cooked amazing meals and canned hundreds of jars of vegetables on sweltering hot summer days. They dug "taters" and picked strawberries and hung snow white bleached sheets and towels on the clothesline to dry on hot windy days. They had hard chores.....and much more work than us women of today. But the simple life they had sure as heck seemed happier to me....and safer and more secure. That's what quilts on the clothesline remind me of.

  7. Love the photos of Bickett! He looks like he doesn't mind Poppy waking him up. It is hot enough here working outside mid-day I can imagine how hot it is for you.
    Take care!

  12. What a beautiful shot of the patchwork quilt hanging on the clothesline, surrounded by your pretty garden....timeless.
Little Bickett knows that Poppy is his buddy, the photo of him covering his ears is priceless :)
Don't be getting too overheated Henny !

  15. This certainly is a busy time of the year. Here it's still so very dry and although we've enjoyed a couple of cooler days as of tomorrow that changes. Also it's Airshow weekend so not only will it be dreadfully hot it will be screaming jets overhead. I am not a fan of either. ( Don't I sound like an old grump today?)
