Moving right along...

We have had another beautiful day! Gosh, that's three in a row with  sunshine, blue skies, low humidity, and a breeze...and low 70's.  Wish it could stay this way through August!

Is the potting bench finished??

Another brain storm! The new heavy wrought iron back on the little potting bench came off an old park bench Poppy brought home from work years ago. The bench has long been gone, but I held on to the back, it was much too pretty to throw away.  Glad Poppy was off work today. He bolted the back onto the table for me.

Sure is hard to stay away and stop moving and fixing up here. We did get all the mowing and weed-eating done today...and I brought three more big wheelbarrow loads of mulch to the teeny tiny garden...

Hope walking is good for my back, cause I've walked many a step from the woods to the garden with the wheelbarrow loaded with mulch.

Can't tell you how thankful I am to have a little garden, especially after my back problems and worrying that my gardening days were over.

My building of the little wattle fence looks pretty skimpy this year. The shorter wattle fence in back is a little sturdier and is for the yard long beans to climb. Yep, growing those yard long beans last year was fun and honestly, the beans were delicious.

Nothing really special in these pictures, except maybe to me. I needed this little happy place.

and looking from inside the teeny tiny garden.

and here too, the rooted cutting that badly need to be re-potted. I'll get to that soon.

Need to get the chicken tenders cooked for our salad tonight. Hope to be right back!

Love,
Henny

Oh, and instead of a kitty cat picture, how about old sweet Eli...

  1. Oh, I like your potting bench, Henny. That's really cute. Makes it special when you created it yourself. Your gardens look great.
Isn't it fun to grow your own veggies. This is my first year with a garden in a long time. It's about time I got back at it. "Hi Eli" You are just the most lovely dog. :)

  6. What a great idea to bolt that wrought iron park bench back on to your potting bench. I have a very nice black metal bed headboard and footboard that I've been keeping my DH from carting away. I just know someday I'll find the perfect spot for it.

Your garden is growing and everything looks super. I'm so glad you can garden again.

  7. The potting bench is pretty with that iron back. I see you've got your garden hand tools hanging from it. Mine don't always get put back right away and then I forget where I put them. I'm so glad your back is well enough for you to get out and do some garden work. The new bench looks like it's a good height to be easy on your back. Mine doesn't like bending just a little. I'm better off standing up straight or bending way over. That bench would keep my back pretty straight. I hope it's easy on yours.

  9. That is the prettiest potting bench that I have ever seen, the garden is looking full of promise. We finally had a cooler day yesterday and light rain overnight. There is still a light drizzle and I hope that it continues all day, the gardens need it badly. I never seem to keep on top of potting on, the seedlings grow faster than I can get round to them. The handsome Eli is always worth looking at. Walking is good for your back but try not to load too much into the wheelbarrow, it is not the pushing it but the lifting the legs off the ground when full that does the damage.

  19. Oh, the backboard for the potting bench is just perfect! It's exactly the right length for the potting bench. Did that just "happen" or did Poppy make the bench top to fit the back piece? Either way it was an inspiration. Love it!

  24. I love, love, the look of your potting bench with that wrought iron piece, complete with a guardian or gardening angel to look over you. What a clever idea.
Your garden is coming along nicely, each time you show the progress I can tell the plants are getting bigger and healthier.
Sweet Eli, he's such a beautiful boy.
    Hugs,
    ~Jo
