A bright spot!

Goodness, I have new followers! Thank you, I appreciate you so much. Even back before Adam (Adam, the new follower, that is) :) were some that I failed to acknowledge and thank. I appreciate all of you and your friendship!

Still wet and rainy here on Henny Penny Lane!  We could really use a little sunshine right about now.

Actually, there was a bright yellow spot just outside the little kitchen window this morning, an American Goldfinch. Maybe I'll pick up a thistle sock in Walmart while I'm out.

Better get going. Need to get a few groceries, put gas in the car and get back home,

old sweetie pie has an appointment with Dr. Davis at 3:00. Seems he is due for everything but a rabies shot.

This cool rainy weather has all of us (except me) wanting to curl up somewhere and go to sleep. I actually slept eight hours without waking up last night and believe me, that is a rarity!!  Four hours is the norm for me. Somebody must have slipped something in my sweet tea at supper last night!

Hope to be back soon.

Love,
Henny

  1. Isn't it wonderful when you get a few bonus hours of sleep! We seem to have got into a weather pattern of rain for a couple of days and then dry for a couple, but still a little low with the temperatures for this time of year.

  2. My,everyone does look sleepy at your house, except the yellow finch of course. A full night's sleep really is a rare treat and a blessing. Wonderful photos.

  4. Hi,
We are just starting to warm up. Golly it has been cold. We had a low of 23 last Sunday and my bird bath froze!
I am hoping to get in the garden this weekend and next week and in the mean time pray the warm weather holds. I will wait to plant the peppers and tomatoes until June. Wisconsin weather, crazy!!

  6. Eli is going to be mad at you !
I love seeing Goldfinches in the garden, and they are so easy to spot, just like a wild canary :)
    Sweet Smokey, he's a love.

  9. I know what you mean, Henny! I slept 8 hours last night, too. I expected to be Superwoman today, but I was actually a little stiff from gardening!
Aw! I hope the vet check went well.
Goldfinches DO love the thistle socks, don't they?

  10. glad you were able to sleep. How are things going with the snake problem? did any more show up? Hope you get some sun soon, but not us. We're loving the rain and 61 degree highs! Too sun it will be too hot and we'll be missing the rain.

  11. We are having very cold cloudy weather this month, it is so different from last year where we were already having a hot spell that lasted all summer. I'm enjoying the colder days and the bit of rain . . . less watering to do :) I love Golden Finches they are our state bird and one of the few colorful birds that we have around here. I'm happy to hear that you got some good sleep, it's so important.
    Have a lovely week.
    Connie :)

  12. Don't you love birds that are easy to identify? Like the Goldfinch. Sparrows drive me crazy. Birds of prey too. I saw a big bird over the lake this week, big enough to be and eagle but no markings so I couldn't know what it was.
I hope you get sunshine soon. We hadn't had rain for 2 months and last night it really came down. Now many of my flowers are flattened. I hope they can straighten up on their own.

  13. We are at Oliver right now and it is raining, which is a wonderful thing! Am also glad to hear from GM above that we got rain at home too. Both places need it. I can't remember what 8 hours straight of sleep is like. I get really darn excited the very odd time I only wake up once in the night!

  19. Love the sleepy picture of Eli - although a trip to the vet's will certainly wake him up.

  20. I almost didn't notice the American Goldfinch until you pointed out he was there. He blends in better than I expect for a colorful bird.

  21. All your animals look tired out! That first photo is so pretty.

  22. Wasn't it wonderful to sleep that long? It's a rarity for me also, but these last few weeks (knock on wood) I have slept like a log every night. I wish my Katie would sleep a bit...she has been wired and crazy lately.

  23. I can't remember the last time I slept 8 hours, must be at least 5 years! How lovely, was it the rain on the roof that lulled you to sleep?

  24. Hi Henny,
It makes my heart so warm and happy to see your Sweetypie Pyr!! We had a girl Pyr named Charmin who lived to be 15! She was a Sweetie good good girl, and I we miss her dearly. We also had a Kuvasz (Livestock guardian also)rescue at the same time! What two big white gorgeous doggies they were!! :-)

Thanks for your sweet visit today!
Sending warmth and joy and many blessings, Linnie
