It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving Day has come and gone and here we are at the close of another day. There were last minute changes yesterday, leaving Poppy and me with only two guests for dinner, Poppy's nephew Josh, and Josh's girlfriend Samatha. It was a nice day.
Poppy had to work until 12:30 as you can tell by his work clothes...and please, excuse the cap and the open laundry room door .We could have done a little better with our Thanksgiving Day picture.
We had our usual...turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, collards, sweet potato casserole, broccoli casserole, blueberry salad, green beans, rolls, sweet tea and chocolate pecan pie.
Eli probably had more fun on Thanksgiving day than any of us. He said it was a good change having a young couple here, somebody who could actually run. He had a blast playing with Josh and Samatha.
Thank you all for the kind comments about our losing little Shae. I sure miss her. You know, she died during the night last Sunday. Late Sunday evening just before dark, I was standing in front of the kitchen window and noticed Shae. She was moving slow, but walked the entire perimeter of the goat lot. She stopped at BunBun's cage and stood for a minute looking in, then walked to her little barn and lay down. I can't help but wonder if she was saying goodbye.
It is surprising how calm Asa has been. She acts very normal, except for wanting more of my attention. This evening she stood up on her back legs, putting her front feet on my chest...like a dog will do. It was the sweetest thing.
then was coming right on out of the lot with me. She seems fine, but we are still looking for another goat.
Thanks again for kind caring comments. I appreciate your friendship so much.
Love,
Henny

Hi! Glad that you had a nice Thanksgiving Day. So sweet that Asa wants your attention and it looks like Eli had fun! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! Your table and guest look just fine! I bet Shae was saying goodbye, animals know those things:)
ReplyDeleteThe food menu sounds yummy! I am glad that you and Poppy had a great thanksgiving! Love and miss you!
ReplyDeleteI love photos of people around a table sharing a meal. They are special memories. I'm so sorry about Shae. It's so hard to lose our little friends.
ReplyDeleteYour Thanksgiving menu sounds great. Since you didn't have as many guests as you had thought, I'll bet you have yummy left-overs for the next days! Not having to worry about what to make is such a good thing!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great Thanksgiving meal, and nice to have the young company. Looks like Eli had a blast, I think that is the first time I haven't seen him looking pristine! Like GM said, leftovers are the best part of cooking a big meal.:)
ReplyDeleteThat was certainly a bountiful amount of food you prepared for your thanksgiving dinner. How nice to have a young couple to share it with you. Eli looks especially happy too.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you had a great Thanksgiving, the meal sounds beautiful. So much fun for Eli to have the attention of your younger guests. Take care.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful Thanksgiving. I always think animals know when their time has come. You gave Shae a lovely life and I am so sorry again about her passing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very nice Thanksgiving. Sometimes quieter ones are the best - not so hectic.
ReplyDeleteYoung people always liven things up! Nice they could join your for dinner and play with Eli. He does look like he's having fun with that big stick!
ReplyDeleteDear Henny. So sorry for your loss. I've been absent from blog world as we had my daughter and two granddaughters come stay with us for a few days. Shae was such a beautiful goat. I know you must miss her so very much. I hope you can find a sweet friend for Asa soon. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. Now the countdown to Christmas! Take care.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Darlene in Calif.
Came to stay with us! Boy I need to proofread!
ReplyDeleteHugs again!
It sounds like your Thanksgiving was a lovely one, lots of food, friendship, and shared with your precious family members.
ReplyDeleteOurs was just the two of us this year, the children and their spouses scattered to the wind and ate with in-laws and partners this year.
That's OK too, we'll get them for Christmas :)
Just look at Eli showing off, he's enjoying your young company :)

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving . Eli looks like he had a great time to lol ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteHello Henny,
ReplyDeleteCatching up with your posts after being away for a bit. Your little goats have been such fun to see and hear about, and I am sorry that Shae is now departed. I hope you find a pal for Asa, and I know you are giving her lots of love. We had a little smaller group for our Thanksgiving too, but it was the first time we had the new version of the kids table. For the 6, 5, 3 and 2 year olds! They did very well and just had too much fun pouring their own water from an old milk bottle. I think you had way more variety for your feast, and I am intrigued by the blueberry salad! Yum!
Henny, I am desperately sorry for your loss of your little goat, Shae. I have lost several little critters over the years that nothing is wrong on blood work, x-rays, or anything, they just go and I can only think that someone is calling them home. Blessings to you and yours, Henny. I hope you will find a Christmas goat or kid to help your days be brighter. Much love is being sent your way! Love always and Happy post Thanksgiving, Terry
