Daughters

What a sweet weekend this was! Got to spend time with both my daughters. Poppy was away on a hunting trip.

Andee and I shopped all day Friday, and I actually bought some things. I sure did! Three sweaters, a shirt, and a new can opener; and not from a thrift store, mind you; brand new stuff! :) We even had pizza buffet for lunch. How fun is that!! Oh my, why is everything so fun and so funny when you're out with a daughter.

Andee spent the night with me but had to go home on Saturday...then late Saturday afternoon Lynn came to spend the night. She stopped in town and picked us up something for dinner. We ate and talked and laughed. Then I said to Lynn, "there is a TV show that I love. It's called "Molly B's Polka Party" and comes on tonight at ten. Will you watch it with me?  Poppy will not watch it. I'm probably the only person east of the Mississippi who loves this show! Anyhow, we watched, and laughed and even tried dancing the polka.

Before Lynn left going home Sunday morning, she said, "Mama, can I do a little video of your sewing room? You can put it on your blog."  I said, "Oh goodness, Lynn. What about all the dust?"  So, here is the video of my dusty little sewing room, which I must say, makes me sound much smarter than I really am...

Thank you friends, for visiting and for putting up with me.

  5. I agree with the previous comments. A very enjoyable post! I loved that your daughter said she wants to be just like her mama when she grows up.:) I don't think I'm brave enough to let someone video my sewing room. ;)

    1. Thank you lil red hen. Well, I am surprised that the dust and strings didn't show up too much. I did see my glasses on the floor in front of the sewing machine. :)

  6. You surely have a wonderful daughter who appreciates her mother so much. I loved seeing your sewing room and getting a feel for your personality. The rest of your home seems to reflect Poppy more than you, but the sewing room shines as a tribute to the gentle spirit who created it. I just filled a jar of buttons recently so was tickled to see all of yours. Wondering if the glass lamp by the bed could be filled with buttons if you tried?

    1. Thank you Sharon. You are right about the rest of the house looking more like Poppy. :) Buttons would be so cute in that lamp. I'll try it!

    1. Thank you Diane. If you looked closely, you probably saw why I am so tickled over the pretty fabrics you sent me. Most of fabric so neatly folded there is not pretty enough for an apron or bonnet.:) Oh, did you recognize the fabric in most of the new things I've made. Thank you!

  8. It was a joy to be peeking into your sewing room and you could feel the love that your daughter has for you as she walked us through it. Love & Beauty . . . that's what I call perfection:)
Congratulations on buying some new stuff, LOL. I know how you feel, it seems that most of my stuff comes from thrift shops, but I do enjoy the hunt and find great stuff at great prices:)
The other day when I was blogging I came across this quote; I think you will appreciate it. "Going shopping with your husband is like going hunting with the game warden", LOL. It's true, I always feel rushed because he doesn't really like the stores that I like to spend time slowly looking through :)
Wishing you a wonderful week and I'm so happy that you had some sweet time with your daughters. How very sweet of them to come and spend the night and weekend with you.

  11. Hello Henny, what a treat to see inside your sewing room and enjoy your daughter's video. Her love for, and pride in, you shine through. I saw no dust, only a rare glimpse of beautiful materials and haberdashery, like a treasure trove of yesteryear. It's charming. I love spending time with my mother too - I think the mother and daughter relationship is very special.

Such tidiness ... you'd be frightened at my little room :) It's fascinating how we creative ladies each have our own little things we LOVE to make. I'm fascinated with your clothespin dolls. So cool! And your sewing --aprons and bonnets -- amazing! Thanks to your daughter for that sweet tour of your special room.

  33. Hi Henny: Thank you to your daughter for the lovely sewing room tour. I think you are so talented and especially love your clothespin dolls. So cute. I will be pulling out my special apron again over Christmas baking time. It's very special to wear it and think about how kind you are and the distance in miles between us. I hope all is going well and your back is improving. Deb Annie and Wilson send love. (waving)

  34. I have been going down your posts and happened to notice this one in particular. How wonderful that you was able to have that weekend with your girls. Hearing the love expressed by your daughter as she was making the video almost brought a tear to my eye. That room and the things in it must be very special to her. I can't even imagine keeping my sewing room in such order! Maybe I should at least give it a try after we get into the farm house! Such a sweet post!
