Thank you for your comments about the new chair. I replied to each comment. It took a while, you know how I go on and on about things, explaining, apologizing...and now I'm wondering, does anybody ever go back and check to see if there was a reply to their comment? Do you? Sometimes I just don't remember to go back.
Remember the Kimberly doll? She was such a pretty doll...
These came from the thrift store a few years ago. I cleaned them up and made their outfits. The pink marker ink would not come off the one doll.
The pattern I used to make their clothes would also fit the American Girl doll. I like the country look and wanted to make something similar for the new doll. Here's the thing...I've misplaced the pattern pieces for view a. Imagine that!
This is an old pattern, 1990, and I've used it to make dozens of doll dresses.
Anyhow, I'm sure there are plenty of these patterns for sale on eBay, cheap.
Sometimes Dollar Tree sells the prettiest gift bags...for one dollar! This one hangs in the teeny tiny sewing room.
and look...I simply had to get this little Brambly Hedge book, Poppy's Babies.
Okay, not much of a post here. Thank you for visiting. I plan to stand and stare at the new chair first thing tomorrow and figure out how to pretty things up around it. :)
Love,
Henny

I did go back and read your responses. I kept my childhood dolls until about 4 years ago. Since I don't have children/grandchildren, I gifted them to a blog friend with MANY granddaughters so that they could be enjoyed. I did keep a handful of special baby dolls, and my mom dressed them for me after I was grown. I love your sweet book and the pretty gift bag. We have a shop here called Tuesday Morning that always has the prettiest tissue paper with vintage prints. Have a pleasant good night.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mildred. How sweet of you to give the dolls away. There is a Tuesday Morning in Raleigh and in Durham. I love to shop there, but only go when I am out with my daughters.
DeleteMake your own pattern, you are a good enough seamstress to use that dress on the doll to make your own! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Far Side! I've tried that one time, and it didn't work. I am not good at that. :) But, thank you.
DeleteI seldom go back and read comments unless I know the blogger makes them often. Your sewing skills amaze me.
ReplyDeleteThank you, but I am really not good at sewing. I do okay on doll clothes and simple aprons but I can not make clothes fit to wear. :)
DeleteWhen I have time I like to go back and read responses. Makes me feel like I know the person better. Wonderful little book and gift bag. I don't have much desire to sew doll cloths. I don't have very good fine motor skills so maybe that is why.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I love to read comments and I love to reply, but sometimes I hardly have time to get on the computer. Thank you.
DeleteYour dolls and the clothes you made are absolutely darling! I remember making clothes for my daughter's Barbies and that was fun and interesting but hard being so small.I often go back and read responses. Your blog is always interesting no matter what the subject!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I like the new covering for that chair!
Shirley H.
Shirley, I cannot imagine making Barbie clothes. There is no way I could sew something that small. You must be a very good seamstress. Thank you so much.
DeleteThe dolls are so sweet. I'm sure that you could find many patterns on EBay. I honestly do forget to check back to see if my comment has been replied to. I'll do that now. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melanie. I forget to go back to check for replies too.
DeleteMy mother has a similar one at her house I think
ReplyDeleteOh, does she? Thank you Adam.
DeleteI only go back to check if I have asked a specific question. A lovely post today.
ReplyDeleteI do go back and see if there is a reply to my comment. I realize not everyone has the time to reply to comments so I understand that people don't reply. What a cute Brambly Hedge book, perfect title!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day.
Thank you! You know, I had never heard about Brambly Hedge until I saw pictures on different blogs. I have gone crazy of the little books. Aren't they sweet!
DeleteOh you have the Brambly Hedge books! I have Winter Story and praying I'm able to get the others :0) have a blessed week Penny :-) mari
ReplyDeleteThank you Mari. I ordered three little Brambly Hedge books on Amazon for .99 each, but shipping was something like $4.99, which was worth it.
DeleteSometimes I go back and read if I asked a specific question....but mostly I don't go back and read. If someone asks me a question, I try to go to their blog and comment and then answer that question by saying 're the question you asked on my blog.....'
ReplyDeleteThank you Rose. That's a good idea.
DeleteHow lucky and talented you are, to be able to sew doll clothes!!!!! Just amazing, to me. :-)
ReplyDeleteDo you have to have a special part, for your sewing machine, perhaps? Because I can't see dealing with tiny pieces, on a regular sewing machine....
Sweet finds! Oh I love Brambly Hedge!
Happy Monday,
Luna Crone
Thank you Luna. I don't have any talent, that's for sure. I was just determined to learn to sew enough to sell bonnets and aprons at the farmer's market. It has been fun. Oh, and I use just a regular J.C. Penney $99.00 sewing machine. :)
DeleteI love all your dolls and the cute clothes you make for them! I've always been a doll lover. Your newly covered chair is just beautiful! The room looks great with the chair but I understand how you feel - when you update one thing it makes you want to do more. Every time I paint a room it makes me want new curtains, rugs, furniture, etc. and of course I can't get all new things!
ReplyDeleteI do go back and check comments for reply's, although I understand no one can reply to every comment. Like another person said, it helps you to know a person better. I also enjoy reading everyone else's comments as it seems more like a bunch of friends just visiting together!
Thank you Bonnie. I love reading comments too, and on others blogs too. I also enjoy replying to the comments. I moved a couple of lamps around in the living room which helped the looks of the new chair. I do like the chair though.
DeleteI also usually go back and look for replies. It's a nice thing to do. Maybe I should start doing that on my blog .... I'll have to think about that!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cynthia. I can't seem to get into any kind of routine when it comes to comments. I want to reply to each comment but sometimes run out of time.
DeleteThanks for sharing your dolls with us since I'm also a doll lover. I like to look for replies, but sad to say, I don't leave many replies. I also like to read comments from others; just may lead me to a new friend.
ReplyDeleteI know, me too. That is how I found your blog...reading someone else's comments...on their blog. :)
DeleteBecause I know you often reply to comments I always do check but it depends on the blogs. Those that I know often reply I will check. I would love to respond to each and every comment but so often I run out of time.
ReplyDeleteI never thought to check for cute gift bags at the Dollar store, I'm going tomorrow!!!
I love Jill Barklem and Poppy's Babies looks to be so sweet.
I don't think any of your posts have been boring but I understand where you're coming from because I often look at mine before I press POST and wonder if anyone will be interested in what I've written.
Thank you! I love the Brambly Hedge books and can thank my blogging friends for that. Usually Dollar Tree has pretty Christmas bags too, but not this year. Not here anyway. :)
DeleteLovely photos - all of them!! I always enjoy your posts so much.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do go back and see if you leave a reply because sometimes you do.
I always check on the people who usually leave replies.
Thank you! That's nice that you check back. I've always wondered if folks do check back.
DeleteI am late getting around today, Henny. These dolls are beautiful and I love the clothes that you have sewn for them. The newest find, complete with her beautiful clothes, is like a totally different doll. You did an amazing job with her hair, too.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful week!
Better late that never Dianna. :) Thank you so much. Today, I am behind with everything!
DeleteWhen I have the time I always look to see if I have a response to a comment; some times life is just too busy. Most certainly if I ask a question, I go back to read the answer:) Doll clothes are just too hard for me . . . the parts are just so small. You are a brave girl! Was the little book from the Dollar Tree too? I love the art work . . . the pages could be cut out and turned into a lovely banner:)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a warm and sunny week.
Connie :)
Thank you Connie. No, I ordered the little book from Amazon...you can get them "used" for $.99 plus something like $4.99 shipping. I've ordered three, so far. That would make a sweet banner.
DeleteI enjoy reading the comments almost as much as the post itself. I've, as of late, been sewing for my granddaughters' American girl dolls, so I perked right up when I came across this post. And, on the previous post - no, the chair is not too bright! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for looking at my blog and leaving a comment. I'm tickled to have found an American Girl doll.
DeleteI love the dolls. What an awesome posting. Thanks for sharing this wonderful posting with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :)
DeleteLove Brambley Hedge books, have them all. Most bloggers do not answer comments, I usually do,sometimes I can't. Of the blogs I follow, only a handful of Bloggers reply to comments, so I know to go back and see the reply and always do. I don't mind a blogger not replying, it's not necessary most of the time, unless a question has been asked. But I feel like I am having a conversation with my readers when I reply on my own blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeri! I feel the same. I really do love to reply to comments.
