Still laid up

Not much news here as I am still biding my time waiting to see the back specialist! Waiting is not easy and my back is not getting better.

It is almost impossible to be home alone every day and do nothing. Poppy has been feeding Rosie and opening the chicken house door before he leaves for work. He feeds and waters the chickens and other animals when he gets home in the afternoon.

However, mid morning every day, the rooster needs to be let out of the goat lot and Eli needs to go in the goat lot. I have no choice but to do it myself. After getting Eli's leash hooked on, I wind the leash around my hand all the way up to his collar then holding on tightly I coax him all the way, saying... walk slow Eli...walk slow Eli...good boy. But when we get to the gate and open the latch, there's Rosie waiting to run out. Still bent over, I hold onto Rosie, unhook Eli's leash and let him go, then pick up Rosie and hold her until the rooster scoots out behind us. Still bent over, I put Rosie down and squeeze myself back out the gate and close the latch, then painfully hobble back to the house, up the steps, and onto the couch...to recuperate.

Last night Poppy was in his usual place watching TV and I was, of course, on the couch. Eli jumped up on the foot stool and then on over into Poppy's lap...what a surprise that was! It was the funnest thing. Sometimes I think Eli thinks he is still a puppy.

Thankfully, the camera was close by. Big old baby, bless his heart.

Thank you stopping by. Hope to be back soon.

Love,
Henny

I completely understand your pain and difficulties of trying to carry out everyday chores, it's a nightmare. I'm confined to a wheelchair whilst recovering, I'm pulling my hair out knowing all there is to be done, but not able...
    No Easter dinner cooking here.
Hope you get some relief soon Henny !

  6. On my one experience with a wonky back, it did seem as though days went by with no change at all.
And I'm sure that for someone as active as you, it's MADDENING not to be able to accomplish the simplest task.
If good wishes through the internet could help you'd be cured by now!

  13. Oh, that's just awful!!! I wish I lived close enough to come help you. I think I'd call that doctor's office and tell them that you cannot wait until the end of the month to see him. You're in my prayers. That picture of Elii on top of Poppy is so funny. I hope he doesn't jump on you, though. Did you get the results of the lyme disease test? Please take it easy.

  15. Hi Henny Penny, So sorry you are still suffering. We can sympathize as my husband has a pinched nerve and it seems to take forever between appointments or waiting to get an appointment. He has had lots of pain but got more shots today and hoping that will help. I am glad you are going to be tested for Lyme just to rule that out as I have Lyme Disease. It can affect different parts of your body on different people. I do love, love that pink wheelbarrow you posted a bit ago. Hope your feeling better and get some help soon. Nancy

  24. Someone above suggested that waiting till the end of the month to see the orthopedist was too long to wait. I think they are right. You might call the Dr. with the end of month appointment and see if that appointment couldn't be moved up or at least put you on a list to fill in cancelled appointments. Talk to the nurse and explain about not being able to straighten up since, if I remember correctly, the "not being able to straighten up" part started after the appointment with the orthopedist was scheduled. It sounds as if your condition has worsened and that might play into their rescheduling you for an earlier appointment. Couldn't hurt (ha) to try.

  28. Your last photo made me smile. Now that is one big lap dog!
I have just read your previous posts to get caught up on your back issues. I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I know from experience how debilitating back pain can be. I will join in with the others who highly recommend chiropractic care. I went through a situation similar to what you describe six years ago. That summer I visited the chiropractor 3 times a week. I found her adjustments and the use of a gel ice pack helped to ease the pain. It was a long process, but I was unable to avoid drugs and surgery, which I am thankful for. To this day I visit her monthly and do daily "core strengthening" exercises.
I hope that you will soon find relief. Until then, you will be in my thoughts.
